I forgot how hard Mr. T ran shi*t in the 80's.

I bet if you would of sat 50 Cent down as a kid and asked who he wanted to be when he grew up he'd have told you he wanted to be Mr. T. Good on ya fitty, you're just a tv show and cereal sponsor away from making your dream come true.

Something you didn't know about Kale: Kale is absolutely fanatical about tubing.

Once the snow melts its eat, sleep, tube for Mr. Stephens. In fact I haven't even been able to get in touch with him for almost a month now. If you see Kale around please tell him to call us. Thanks, IS blog team.

So it is now spring time but judging by the conditions in Whistler right now you would think it is mid winter. check the photo below with Jake basically drowning in powder up at the lake the other day. We Just had a good 4 day stint of sunshine so Logan and I were snowmobiling everyday and we are a tad bit tired and sore now. Below you can see a picture of our backcountry tour guide (and fellow Endeavor rider) Kale Stephens taking care of his morning business before we went to build some jumps. We stayed up till about 7:30pm yesterday to hit our jump right till sunset and it worked out great! I raced to the city and barely got my life together, then jumped on a flight to Montreal for the Empire Shakedown this weekend. Stay tuned for some photos and video update from the trip out east.

The conditions in the back country of Whistler have been great the past
few days. I have a sweet sun burn and have been shredding tons of
pow. I have been going up snowmobiling with Kale Stephens, Nick
Gregory, and Jake Koia as well as we have been shooting photos with
Brad Heppner and Scott Serfas and filming with Morgan Rice. We wake
up at about 5:45 in the morning and finish around 7:00 when the sun
goes down. Yesterday we were scoping out a spot to build a jump and I
rode over a roll next to the zone to check out the landing. As i was
riding down on my snowmobile i saw a bunch of snow billowing up in
front of me like a small wave and i realized i was in the middle of an
avalanche! Right after i realized i was in the avalanche i felt it
pulling me and my machine to the side so i instantly pinned the
throttle and ripped over the rubble building up in front of me and
raced away from it. Luckily no one was hurt and the avalanche did not
travel far...

Kale call: I just called Kale (1:39pm) and he was actually out of bed. Its gonna be a productive day for Mr. Stephens!

There's a debate going on here at IS eyewear. Should we or should we not get involved in the new Belly Board craze sweeping the snow industry.

Considering the sport is targeting a more robust crowd which a couple of our employees fall into we're leaning towards yes. We still need to discuss with Dev so we'll keep you posted..

We haven't announced this unitl now so pay very special attention. We printed one very special Still Bastards DVD cover which looks like this:

If by chance you've ordered a Still Bastards DVD online and it features the Benji/JF GT doubling shot for cover art you've just won yourself plus one a night in Paris. We're not talking Paris France what you've won is one night of partying, which also includes a cozy spot on the floor at JF Pelchats Whistler hostel in Emerald. This dream night come true of "french style" partying can only be attained through copies of the Still Bastards purchased through the www.isdsgn.com site. Good luck. Either way you' ll need it..

Squamish news: Muriel "Kale's Grandmorther" has just recently founded a theatre night which is held every Wednesday at their Squamish home. When asked why she responded " I wanted to give Kale and his snowboard buddies something else to do besides wasting their time with those funny cigarettes and facebook".

Photographed below: Mikey, Paavo and Jbone exploring theatre at the Stephens' house.

The groups rendition of the classic "The Wizard of Oz" will premiere at the squamish rec centre at the end of the month. Keep posted for details.

Kale and Baby Girl

Kale News: Kale and his lady got a new puppy a month or so ago. They named it Baby Girl Stephens. True story...

I did a little interview with Dave England a couple weeks ago and finally got around to transcribing it on Sunday. He's a pretty funny guy. One of the questions I asked was if he currently had any projects on the go. He started telling me about this Bionic Dolphin documentary him and his friend were working on. You know I had to hunt down the trailer on Youtube and I'm glad I did. Here's what I found.

Vancouver, B.C. – Airhole – Ninja Masks You Idiot -  Launches in North American and Japan Fall 2007

The Airhole concept is from the twisted minds of Chris Brown and Kale Stephens. It is the most technical concept ever applied on a face mask before. It’s a hole and you breath through it. Sounds simple right? Well it is, you idiot.

“Kale and I were up shredding one day in the backcountry and it was super cold on my face. I had used all kinds of scarves and bandanas before but nothing was ever that comfortable. That’s when I came up with the idea for face masks. The name was formed from clouds of smoke and the slogan came out of Kale’s mouth in the first commercial on the Fury blog @ IS designs’ website. “AIRHOLE: Ninja Masks You Idiot” Out of all of that we got a company on the go”, says co-founder Chris Brown.

We have always been into ninjas growing up and the masks are, well, ninja masks so we decided to go with that theme. They are far superior to anything that you have put on your face before. They have high quality functional materials that will leave you satisfied in cold or sunny situations. They will also look really dope with stylized patterns and ill fits.”

Airholes are available in five different styles, all named after ninja swords and knives, and available in three different colourways: Black Ninja, White Ninja, and Red Ninja. Their team is already heavily stacked: Kale Stephens, Chris Brown, Paavo Tikkanen, Trevor Andrew, Erik Christiansen, Iikka Backstrom, Eero Niemela, Johnny Lyall, Andrew Geeves, Mikey Rencz, Chris Dufficy, and industry veteran Jon Sommers.

Airhole will be available in North America and Japan Fall 2007. Endeavor Snowboards is handling all sales and press enquiries for North America. For more information, please contact Chris Martin at 604.646.4727 or chris@endeavorsnowboards.com.

About

Founded by pro snowboarders Kale Stephens and Chris Brown, Airholes are face rags for all of your life activities – snowboarding, snowmobiling, concealing your identity. Using innovative functional materials, unique form fitting patterns, and the most ground breaking concept – a hole that you breath through, Airholes are the most innovative product available in the face protection market today.

My Blog: SIA Vegas
By: Matt_Turner

So i just got back from SIA Trade show down in Vegas and it was everything i expected and more.  Here's a quick review of what i remember:

Monday:
Fly from Vancouver to Vegas on the 12:44 flight.  Many of hommies on the plane, so the trip was already bound to be good.  Got to Vegas and ran into Cedric The Entertainer within mins of getting our bags.
Limo ride to our hotel "The Bellagio" only the one of the best.  Check in, up pack, start drinkin and cruise the strip while making a few phone calls.
Word on the street is that there were 2 hot parties planned for that night.  Hooked up with good ol Kale Stephens who was nice enough to hook us up with 2 tickets to the Burton Party @ Rain in The Palms.
So we head to The Palms, check out Hart and Huntington then head into the Burton party and what a surprise......Common was just taking the stage.  Chilled out to Common, while enjoying free drinks.  The night only got better when Mix Master Mike took the stage after.  Rest of the night was a blur, but i know we hooked up with everyone at the Hard Rock till the wee hours of the morning.

Tues:
We headed off to the trade show during the day and of course started drinking.  Probably my fav. booth was Volcoms Hippi booth.  Beers, Karoke and Volcom boys and girls dressed as hippies. Forgot to mention that next to our trade show was the Redken hair product show which = WOW.  I must have fallen in love many times.  Being drunk around thousands of hot girls was fun and trouble...but that's another story.
So we got tickets to another party we couldn't believe.  We were headed back to The Joint @ The Hard Rock for Bam Margera's private Bachelor party.  Check the pics, the nights kinda blurry from all the double vodka rockstars.  I remember alot of Weeman though.
End of the night finished again in the lobby bar of the Hard Rock.

Wed:
Woke up and got wasted in bed off Hypnotiq, then headed to the trade show.  Drank all day at the trade show, ate nothing and was sick all night.

Thurs:
Flew home feeling like sh*t but great week.  Already can't wait for next year.

Thanks again Vegas

I've just spent the last year backpacking around NZ. I spent 6 months up on the north island surfing and getting my adrenaline pumping, and 6 months on the south island snowboarding. Snowboarding in NZ is alot different then back home in Canada as the resorts are alot smaller and have way less snow, but Kiwis do put alot of effort into creating good terrain parks and half-pipes, so it's a great place to work on freestyle.

Now that my year is over, I am heading over to Aussie for the summer. Sometimes I think I'm crazy for giving up another winter, but I got hooked up with a job working for a surf school in Port Stephens (2 hours north of Sydney) and I'm quite keen to get over there and catch a few waves. Surfing all summer will help keep my mind off of how much I miss snowboarding.

Kale Facts
Just saw the new DVS ad of Kale doing his front 9 tail over perfect jump and figured I'd give you a Kale update as it has been a while. Actually, this will be the first one, and you will soon see that keeping track of what he is up to is a hard thing to do. First up, Kale picked up a new shop sponsor this month, The Source in Calgary. Those guys are super cool and Kale is hyped to be on the team along with Devun. Kale and Browner have been busy working on their Ninja mask company Airhole aswell, with Kale doing lots of the actual designing. Should be out soon. Next, Kale's song in this year's Wear It Well was hooked up since Kale is actually good friends with Skyzoo. Also, our scientists here at Whiteout have confirmed that Kale was a top 3 star of French Halloween, and this picture just confirms these results.

I went to the IS Design signing at Top of the World on Sunday. Duff and Walsh are the most laid back guys I've ever met. I guess it kind of hard not to be laid back if you snowboard for a living. Kooley seemed like he didn't want to be there, but Kale was just as enthusiastic as Duff and Devun. It was definately an experience to meet my favourite Wildcats. I even got them to sign my Reto Lamm Radical Airline board. They couldn't believe that I even had such a sweet oldschool board. It looks even sweeter on my wall. Hope I get to chat with those guys again in the future!
