The Rugged Riders Tricks R4 Chicks snowboard camp presented by Roxy was four days of explosive energy, determination and pure ruggedness. TR4C set a precedent in eastern Canada as the first, the one and the only, all girls snowboard camp. Mont-Blanc Ski Resort hosted the camp in the private TR4C snowboard park designed with Rugged Riders panel of women shredders and carefully constructed with the Mont-Blanc park rangers and Rugged Staff.

 

The journey began with pick-ups…rallying girls together at their closest Axis boardshops and then loading them into the Rugged Mobile. TR4C gathered girls from as far as Barrie, Ontario and Lac St-Jean, Quebec. From there we headed to the park to see what would be called home for the next four days. With two super smooth booters and a diversity of jibs there was something for everyone. The TR4C private park was the perfect design for learning, and learn we did…

 

Four days of thirty girls owning the private TR4C park was more than enough to pump up the girls to learn new tricks and make new friends. The girls exceeded everyone’s expectations and were progressing at a rate so fast that we could hardly keep up with them! Even the pros were surprised. Amber Stackhouse and Alexis Waite the TR4C guest pro riders camp had never seen a group of girls so motivated and rugged when it came to riding and learning in a camp atmosphere.

 

The beginner freestylers were quickly doing big airs, 180 spins and frontside boardslides while the more experienced riders were practicing their cab 3’s and 540’s or learning steezy tricks on the street rail.

 

After a day on the hill we loaded the Rugged Mobile and headed to camp for some good home-cooked meals, and extra activities. Nighttime was the perfect chance to learn how to crochet, skateboard, give massages, rock climb or have water fights while doing the dishes! The evenings were also the perfect time for the Rugged Crew to take a trip to the spa and chill out in the hot tub, steam baths and sauna.

 

All the girls left with goodies bags from Roxy and Axis Boardshop. They also benefited from great deals on SBC subscriptions, and prizes from DC and APO snowboards.

 

The Tricks R4 Chicks Camp had it all; experienced and certified coaches, guest pro-riders, a private park, awesome food and tons of girls that were truly rugged and ready to shred. We couldn’t have asked for a better group of girls, a nicer park or a more fabulous four days together.

Sooooo...I have this friend Kait, who not to mention, is the awesomest friend EVER! because she scored us passes to the COORS LIGHT MYSTERY MANSION PARTY!!! yes it is the same one you've seen advertized on tv...so sweet...She kept all of us in the dark about what was going on and when she told us we all freaked out...It was in WHistler..we got hooked up in the Hilton where everyone invited was staying....we checked into our hotel and got our packeages, writs bands, passes etc and were given a clue to where the party was...nobody had any idea..not even the people who were running the event to keep it a secret.

WE head up to our room and there is ice cold beer wating for us...( now many of you know i'm not much of a beer drinker....well that kinda went to shi*t this weekend) (Cal you wudda been so proud!) NE ways we start drinking get all dressed up (by the way Kait decided to buy us lumberjack outfits..who know whay but ti was halliarius) so we get ready and go out @ 6 to find our first location....we find it..some bar across from buffalo bills where we had to open a safe and get our next clue (ps there was free beer @ each location...as much as you wanted) we got ourclue and carried onn through the village in search of the next place...turns out it was the longhoorn...we had to do this weird beer bong ice thingy...(got beer everywhere) then got eh  next clue which sent us to buffalo bills....we got in there and it was crazy packed!!! (and more free beer) THis is where kait and this girl had a dance off in the middle of the break dance cirlc ...soo funny and then Astrid bused out the worm!

 

after bout an hour @ bills we get called downsrais out some back door and shoved into limos..and for some reason were the only 5 chix in the limo with all these random guys...it felt like paparazzi everywhere...there were so many camera's flashing i could barley see...i guess they thought we were promoters or coors girls or somethign cuz we were dressed up like lumberjacks? ne wyas it waas liek being freaking famous soooo weird...people both dudes and chix kept wanting to take pix with us all night....so after the limo it takes us to theis random back alley and dropps us off at the is hotel and it's done up to look like a mansion..theres red carpet everywhere..candells, big pix on teh walls, a fire place, beds, couches, bigscreens, a dancefloor with aband, a dj all these little bars wher you could get more free beer....and guys you would have loved this....coors girls in french maid outfits walking around with huge trays of beer and some had feather dusters lol oh yeah i forgot aboutthe sexy cops that "frisked" everyone on the way in.....it was hillarious....mikayla and i got "frisked" together lol so yeah the mansion was pimped...there was so many people and everyone was so cool and nice..and drunk ...lol so we partyed there for a long time

 

 

then kait knew this guy who was running the event and we all got introduced and we got introduced to the guy who ownf GArfs adn the guy who owns the ROxy...next thig we know were in a private limo to Garfs with all the old cougars from the ROxy...40 yr old single women are awesome! so we get in to garfs and dance do shots (again free) and dance more...mel gets felt up by a creepy persian guy...it starts  to smell like puke and we leave...so we get back to the hotel hammered...cant find our room...or our keys lol have to deal withthe front desk get to our room put on our robes and complimentary slippers ...eat popcorn and pass out in the most comfortable bed i've ever been it (cal even you would approve)

 

SO that was myweekend...so awesome..KAIT I LOVE YOU! and mikayla you are teh biggest trooper i've ever met! (we had to take her to the clinic on the drive up because she was puking blood (yup had to pul over on teh side of the sea to die so she could ralph  all over my door..so unhappy about taht)

So last week the Gromfest crew had a trip to the land of bikinis, movie stars and traffic jams...yes that's right, we went to Los Angeles.

 

You know there's something about that city (not that I could live there), but it gives off an exciting vibe when it comes to the world of skateboarding and snowboarding.  If you want to work in the industry that's the place to go.  Yes, yes I know you could always go work for Habitat in Ohio or Burton in Vermont or Mervin in Washington or Never Summer in Colorado or...you know what, that's not the point, the point is that the majority of the industry is based in Caliornia.

 

So for a week the Gromfest crew had meeting after meeting talking with potential sponsors about the big deal next summer.  What also got laid out while we were down there was the schedule for SoCal Snow Qualifiers.

 

Let it be known that Bear Mountain is the official host mountain for all things Gromfest in SoCal.  Yes, you heard me right, the all-park mountain is now the only place to qualify for Gromfest in Southern California.

 

Gromfest and Bear will be working together on 3 events that will act as qualifiers.  You show up to one of those events and kick some major keister and you just might receive a Gromfest board and the chance to compete in the finals next summer at Whistler.

Ive finally managed to get my butt down to Zumiez and hand in my work for the Roxy Contest. Even though there boards for girls, it's still designing art work. The guy I handed my work to was amazed with what ive done. Hopefully this will be the start of my career of designing snowboards.
