So my bro and I just got back from a week and a half straight of riding up over at Durango. .. . can we say goggle tan! ahh! Yes indeed conditions were .. .. lets just say .. . very hard packed. icy possibly. maybe some crusted over powder when we got lucky. anyways, crappy conditions never stop me from having a good time (just ask the Spring Break Whistler crew). Well, looking back on these past few weeks, thus far this season i have achieved 3 personal accomplishments:
1. I ride with some pretty nutty people sometimes. Well, we discovered this pretty good lookin secluded cliff-drop on the side of a run. It didnt look so bad from afar, and we journeyed up to the top of it. B-rad hit it first and crashed, which of course de-motivated me. I did the old "lean-over-and-peek-over-the-edge" move which never helps, and freaked out. of course i pulled some excuses out of my ass like the landing wasnt sloped enough bla bla bla but really i thought it was too high and scary. as we rode down to the lift i couldnt shake this feeling off . .this feeling of. . . feeling of .. . .of GIRL. i hate that feeling, especially while riding with the guys. So i went back up and hit it. 'twas a delight.
2. So this next accomplishment was actually really an accident. but a very cool one at that. I went to gap to 50/50 on a pretty high rail, and i guess i was leaning too far forward, and ended up fully nosepressing the rail and actually landing it, but then falling right afterwards in fear and shock (you know how that goes . .. oh wait you dont? . . .*me=pansy*). anyways, i felt pretty crappy because in my mind i thought i fell on a 50/50 which is truly a pansy thing to do. according to my bro, though, i fully pressed the rail JP Walker style, like you could practically read the bottom of my board. Apparently, someone yelled "Wow, did you just see that guy press that rail?!?" and my bro replied "Dude, that was my SISTER!"
3. I finally learned how to F/S boardslide. This almost resulted in some major head injury since Laura was bad and didnt wear her plastic dome of safety!
so yes so far this season has been fun and i learned some new things. my knees hurt and i have some bruises so i am glad i am going to take a christmas break with the Fam in Yuma b4 heading up to Jackson Hole and letting the guys boot-camp me on the backcountry. My mommy makes a mean sweet-potato dish which should fatten me up and give me a nice layer of flab to keep me warm. Saves money on long underwear. PEACE.
