‘You Look Good’ at Sun Peaks Resort

Canada’s Premier Slopestyle Series – March 15th

March 11, 2008 – Sun Peaks, BC – Snowboarders are taking over the Sundance Terrain Park at Sun Peaks Resort on Saturday, March 15th for the You Look Good Rider’s Cup. The event at Sun Peaks wraps up the 2008 tour of Canada’s premier snowboard slopestyle series that has already stopped in Martock (Nova Scotia) Mont Tremblant (Quebec), Banff Norquay (Alberta) and Blue Mountain (Ontario). Sun Peaks is hosting the only event in British Columbia on a tour that hands out $25,000 in cash and $75,000 in prizing throughout Canada.

This is truly an ‘anything goes’ competition. There are no compulsory tricks and judges will be basing their decision on four aspects: trick execution and difficulty, progression, variety and risk. In addition, the judges do not have the benefit of knowing what the rider will perform.

Competitors will be divided into categories: Groms (12 and under), Renegades (13 to 15), Salomon Amateurs (16 and over) and Coors Light Pro Open (cash prizing).

Coors Light is one of the major sponsors of the You Look Good Rider’s Cup. Other sponsors include Much Music, Salomon, Ripzone International, Yamaha and Snowboard Canada Magazine.

Registration for the Sun Peaks event will take place on Friday, March 14th from 4 to 5pm in the breezeway of the Village Day Lodge and again Saturday morning from 7:30am to 9:30am. Your $45.00 registration fee includes a loot bag, annual subscription to SBC and a $5 bib deposit. Either cash or cheque will be accepted (payable to eventSing promotions).

The women’s and men’s qualifying rounds begin just after 10am and the finals will start at 1:45pm. Awards will be handed out at 4pm.

If you aren’t competing, this is a fantastic spectator event, so don’t miss out! For the best viewing, take the Sundance Express Chairlift to the top and ski down the Sundance run over to Sun Catcher and down to the park.

About Sun Peaks
Sun Peaks Resort is a four season destination resort located in the interior of British Columbia near Kamloops. In winter, Sun Peaks is British Columbia’s second largest ski area with three mountains surrounding an intimate ski-in, ski-out village.  In other seasons, Sun Peaks offers a diverse range of leisure activities including 18 holes of golf as well as numerous events and festivals. Sun Peaks Resort was the first ski resort in North America and is the only resort in Canada to receive the ISO 14001 designation recognizing the resorts environmental policies and practices.  Sun Peaks can be accessed by two airport gateways - Kamloops (45 minutes) and Kelowna (2 1/2 hours) and by car, only three traffic lights and a 4 ¼ hour drive separate Sun Peaks and Vancouver, B.C.

I had to get up around 4:30 to pack for three hour trip to Mt. Hood. My friends drove in around 5 to pick us up and then hit the road. The morning forecast was cloudy and mild. The other day I bought reflective lense and new beanie so I am as stoked as ever. Speaking of lense and beanie, we got to Hood around 8 as we paused for view of beautiful Mt. Hood above clouds and as we got closer, the weather was not as cloudy and mostly sunny. As everybody in van exchanged words for how humongous Hood is and snow coverage. Pulled into parking lot which was half full then put on the gear as we take deep breath of thin fresh mountain air. It was quite chilly. Everybody was done gearing up and headed to Wyatt East Lodge to stretch our bodies then to Magic Mile Ticket Center to buy tickets. Hit up the slopes afterwards. The first two warmup runs went really well because the snow was mushy. My friends did most runs through terrain park but I spent time shredding slushy snow down Palmer Snowfield to tune up for possible boardercross competitions next winter. All I did was work on speed and turning no matter how the terrain is like. Music is another thing to help me get in flow of riding. The Swedish band "The Knife" had me getting the adrenaline going. I started to get more comfortable with the snow conditions since it's not groomed but I got used to it anyways. Snowbunnies, music, slushy snow were the three things in my mind when it comes to riding in typical summer day which made me a day. Speaking of doing runs...I noticed the summer camp on private terrain. Kids and teenagers came in from as far as Japan, Europe, Nova Scotia. The female skier from Nova Scotia who was in line for lift passed by me giving contact even she couldn't tell that I was making contact too cuz of my reflective lens. I was starting to get the vibe feel of the atmosphere here at Hood. I kept getting more hyped as I grab more runs. I was killing every run better and better with The Knife beat. As hours passed by...my body was running dry due to elevation effect. I took break and headed to Timberline lodge to grab water then headed back for couple runs before it closed down. It was one of my best days of riding this year. I want to go back again. At end of day...I said praise to the three climbers who had their lives taken by horrible winter storm in December. God bless them and bless the mountain for what God has created. Let it be and respect the mountain. Justin

Ex's suck ballsack. They really do. And for those who dont know, im talking about Tim. The bastard. Damn nova scotians. Im bitter. That's all there is to it. Why? ha. So many reasons...
Tell me, who does this? What guy who claims hes soooo in loooove with you yada yada goes and tells your two best friends in the whole world that hes gonna break up with you and thinks that they're gonna be ok with it? That its not gonna bother them? oh yeah, he did. Bastard. Then.....goes back to Nova Scotia and breaks it off over the phone!!! no, not in person like any decent human being would. Over the phone. Way to treat your gf of 3+ years, the one who stayed up countless saturday nights into the wee hours of the morning trying to calm you down after youve gotten yourself drunk and crying thinking about your dying mom. The one who was there for you and talked you out of tboughts of leaving this world after she died. The one who understood what you were going through when my own mom was diagnosed with a terminally ill cancer. But apparently thats not enouph? You couldnt hack it up here, when i started to go through what you were going through. I could handle it but you couldnt. I thought we were supposed to get through things together? work things out, help eachother along. So when we hit a rough spot, we'd get over it, just another bump in the road in the relationship. Right? Apparently not. you always said you didnt want me to run away from my problems by going with him back to ns. That i should face them head on, and that things will get worse before it starts to look up. So then, tell me, what did you do when things got worse, and i depended on you more then ever? you f*ck off to nova scotia, leaving my friends with the burden of knowing that it was over between us, but me just thinking it was another bump that we could get through. Well, whos running away from their problems now huh? can't handle when things go a bit sour. I was there for you, but you can't be there for me.
You once told me that you didnt know how you'd ever get over me because this relationship was so much more then anything else he's ever felt before.
Well, id say when i havent talked to you in over a month, you're over it.
f*ck you tim.

So yeah, im just a tad bit bitter still.

10,000 fans saw Matevz Petek (SLO) win the first big air in the NOKIA Snowboard FIS World Cup 2006/2007, held at the Olympic stadium in Stockholm (SWE). Petek triumphed in the big final against Peetu Piiroinen (FIN). This was the first Snowboarding event staged in the Swedish capital following the highly successful FIS Cross-Country World Cup sprint races staged there earlier. Aged 18, the Finnish freestyler was the youngest snowboarder in the finals of the best 16 qualifiers that applied the  new rules using the knock-out-format for the first time. In the semi-finals, Piiroinen relegated his team mate Risto Mattila to the small final (3rd and 4th), while Petek won against Florian Mausser of Austria. In the small final, Mattila successfully competed against Mausser taking the last place on the podium. For complete results, click here.

ok now i have more time to write here how it was....
last time i just didn´t had the nerve to cuz i was just dead of it all!

So....ok....it was all realy chaotic....not like the last trip but stressful as well...i had nothing with me cuz i decided on the way to graz to go there and there was no time for a stop.
so i just had some cloth but nothing more....even no money at all.
so we arrived on wednesday. From the parking to the festival-area we trailed about 30 minutes and 20 more minutes to a place were we formed up our tents. It had about.....i don´t know....over 30°C....
the first day....it was as hot (if not hotter) as the dsay before....the walk to the water-thing was too long....´bout 20 minutes or something like that.....
At the stage there was nowhere any place to hide from the sun.....no shade....nothing....just a WM-tent but there you didn´t hear the music quiet well.
so....after about 3 hour i was realy sun burned lol +outsch+
the bands weren´t absolutely not half as good as i awaited it so it was....dissapointing.
The night was freezing but at 7am you already sizzled in the tent so....no sleep anymore lol
Day 2....water-pipe break....! Wonderful! We had NOTHING left to drink and there was no water...i didn´t have any money so it was realy realy REALY worst. I had to go to the cash-machine were about a million people were standing. So i just decided to wait till the headliner...there wouldn´t be so many people....i was so wrong.....but it was not so hot anymore what was realy good. And i was lucky that so funny people were standing around me also waiting....otherwise i would not have survived.....so the 1 1/2 hours were sufferable.
so if one of these guy.....3 from Tyrol and one from Salzburg (yes, you guy specially!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!).....read this.......write me......i ran away after I got my money thinking i will see you again but i was wrong (again) and this sucks realy. =( I just thought too late of going to Placebo together and then i didn´t find you anymore! Also when BHG played cuz you said you will be there in the very front....
But maybe we will see us one day in Salzburg!
however....ok back to topic....
day 3 was ok.....also hot but....there were the goodies. Like Bloodhound Gang and Tool and yeah that was pretty cool! After Guns´n´Roses we just picked up our things and drove home....!
yes that was Nova Rock! :)

Ok, so a while back, me and my friend Nana thought it would be funny to snowboard down the hill in bikinis. Sounds fun enough, right? Well, she ended up bailing and I had to do it alone. Going down that one time, I'd never heard so many wolf wistles in such a short amount of time. Oh yeah, it was pretty cold too. Good times. Good times.

Time to Grow Up one might say.

So bartending school is over. I passed everything. Even the Bar Cost Control class most people fail... And its the x-mas holidays so im not going to bother looking for a job now, its way to late for that. but I figure once I get back from the Moncton Road Trip. I can start looking for a bartending Co-oP position, and maybe a full time job aswell. Just so I can make some money and move away.

Todays choices for moving away include. Whistler, Sunshine, Toronto,(and even got 2 invites to move in with bartenders out in Nova Scotia) each one of these locations would be shibby sweetness. I will keep you posted on where I move to within the next year ;)

some Serbian humor...

'Twas the night before Bozic and all through the kuca,
I sensed the smell of posna sarma and rakija vruca.
By the dimnjak the opanci were hung kind-a krivo,
In hopes that Sveti Nikola would soon bring me some pivo.

My Tata was in his soba and he was snoring pretty hard,
I guess he was tired from stealing the tree from my neighbor's backyard.
My Mama was in the basement cooking like a fool,
Adding just the right amount of Vegeta to her corba pasulj.

When out on the lawn there arose such a galama,
My dad yelled from his room "Pa, sta je sa vama!"
There was a knocking on the front door with such a loud barrage,
I yelled through the window "This is a Serbian house...come in through the garage!"

Standing in the garage right next to my car,
Was my drunk Ujka Rade coming home from the bar.
"Ajde, idi spavaj" I told him with might, Nobody was going to ruin my chances of seeing Deda Mraz tonight.

About two hours later I heard a noise down the stairs,
I jumped from my krevet to see who was there.
Standing by the tree and eating some leftover pizza,
Was good ol' Deda Mraz reeking of homemade sljivovica.

He was all dressed in red and big as an ox,
He wore some brown papuce along with black socks.
Smelling like a gipsy that's been drinking for days,
He wasn't what I expected...I was actually amazed.

"U picku materinu, kako mrzim ovaj posao," he said,
And then I think he muttered something about his wife and how he wished she was dead.
He started putting the presents under the tree with absolutely no desire,
They were all wrapped up kinda sh*tty with the paper bags from Meijer's.

A package of 12 carape for me and another pack of 12 for my brother,
About 3 pairs of gace for my dad and a can of turska kafa for my mother.
This Serbian Santa was crooked...he was nothing like the fable,
I should've known it when he swiped my pack of smokes that I left on the table.

I yelled out "Hej!" and Deda Mraz turned around like a car,
He quickly took off one papuca and threw it at me like a ninja star.
The look in his eyes was nothing but fright,
He said "Ma, jebi se u dupe" and dashed out of sight.

Up through the dimnjak I heard a loud shriek,
Deda Mraz had just farted like some wild bik.
He got in his fijaker, specially made for hladne zime,
And he yelled at his jelene, ime po ime.

"Napred Marko i Bobane, Petre i Gorane, Hajde Jovan i Nenad, Pavle i Zoran..."
And then he yelled, "Hajdemo brze, moramo poc',

SRECNA NOVA GODINA i SVIMA LAKU NOC!!!"
