Hello everybody, it’s time for a new O2 Blog. As I told you in the last Blog, I was going to an North American EastCoast Trip with Isenseven for 3 weeks in february. We were a pretty big and good mixed crew of 6 Riders, one Filmer and one Photographer and our idea was to rent two RV in New Jersey and drive up the whole Eastcoast up to Montreal and stop at some areas to do some Urban riding or whatever we find to hit with the snowboard. So after our long journey from Europe we started our trip with holidays, left our boardbags closed and spent 3 days in New York. Our Isenseven „Daddy“ and Filmer Vincent was the only guy of our crew who has been to this amazenig city before and he showed us around... the time in New York was great, we spent our time on top of the Rockafeller Cemter, Times Square, in crazy good Night Clubs and Gay Bars, visited a OK GO Concert, ate good food and spent a lot of money for new clothes... I took a few pictures with my O2 Nokia N95 cellphone for you. Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket After the 3 days in New York we where a little bit sad to leave this great place but also excited for the next chapters our trip will bring. So we drove to New Jersey to get our rented RV’s, went to the Grocery Store to buy a lot of food and booze Photobucket And drove 6 hours up to our first destination Burlington, we had pretty good luck with the snow because as soon as we arrived it was dumping very hard and it was getting colder. Our American Rider in the crew Travis Limogue who used to live in Burlington showed us around and we got pretty sweet stuff done... and even delicious self-made hot dogs Photobucket Photobucket After a few days we continued driving and went up to Montpellier a small town one our away from the canadian border, there we visited some friends in the Rome Office, the Sugarbush Mountain Resort and some other guys who gave us some information about Rails and Urban Stuff, but we just spent less time in Montpellier because it wasn’t too good and we wanted to continue to drive up to our last Destination upper North, Montreal. Photobucket We spent the most of our time in Montreal because there was so much snow and good spots to hit with the snowboard. We also had a few pretty nice guys like JP and his friend in the Skateshop and Guilliome. Big props to those guys for helping us out so much and showing us around. But unfortunetly inbetween our Rail Sessions, great food experiances, Card Games and Sauna visits. Chris Patsch broke his wrist while hitting a Ledge in Montreal on his birthday... but we went out for party with him anyway this night, this evening was just amazeing weh ad such a good party with nice people, Champaign and a lot of Vodka. After our long time in Montreal our trip was going to end, all of us where pretty exhausted and really looking forward for a shower and a real bad so we left Montreal a day earlier and drove the down to New Jersey in on day to have our last day and night in New York again. Which was going crazy in the Annex. All in all, it was a great trip! Photobucket In a few days I am leaving for another Isenseven Trip to Colorado, you can read how this trip is going to be in a few weeks. Keep watching my profile and I wish you a great March. Beijing, CHINA –

Hundreds of people from all over the world gathered
in the Nokia Nanshan Melow Park under floodlights that could be seen
for miles.  China’s top riders were showing the crowd what this great
country has produced; rail ninjas true and true.

DJ Wordy took to the decks at 8pm with his original hip-hop-to-heavy-
metal-mash-up sound while spectators from near and far headed up to
the park.  The riders jibbed, destroyed and got their grind on in
this rail only event during the one-hour jam session and showed us
all what Chinese snowboarding is about.  The park was in perfect
condition, including the ispo rainbow box made entirely from snow not
to mention free beers were flowing courtesy of Quiksilver and ispo
china.

The riders had only 60 minutes to show what they had and Li Xian Yi
was the first to pull a sick Gap to Flat to BS Boardslide Down which
scored him the first of the crisp cool 50 kuai bills offered by the
judges.  X-Fox was also on point with a couple of mad whirly birds
over the fun box leaving him in the running for Rail Disaster Of The
Night.  Andrew Wilde warmed up and schooled them all with a more then
sick FS to BS Boardslide Combo and we were definitely blown away by
Wanglei who pulled a crazy  Rodeo Back Flip Maneuver over the ispo
Ice Box.  Whew!  All these guys walked away with sick prizes courtesy
of our gracious sponsors.  Even the ladies were on point with Yindi
leading the pack and walking away with a  Dakine wheelie board bag,
not to mention three crisp, cool 50 kuai bills.

With tonight’s giant crowd including some of the biggest names of the
Snowboard industry, The Quiksilver Night Rail Session made history
once again.  This once small but influential event brought the top
riders of this great country together and along with the love from
ispo china and Quiksilver we were able to promote snowboarding and
push our favorite sport even further.

Everyone had a fabulous time and we really could not have asked for a
better night. A special thanks to our sponsors Quiksilver, ispo,
Dakine and Kagen…Yee Haw!

Hello Snowboard people, I hope you all are doing good and enjoying the Winter. I know it’s a long time since I posted my last blog but I have been so busy with school and snowboarding the last month. But I will blog more the next weeks, promise. Ok since my last Blog I have been to a lot of places with or without Snow... At the end of November, one week before the Air&Style in Munich I went to Köln, Germany with Isenseven for some Streetrail Riding, which was pretty tuff because it was so warm and we just had space to bring barely enough snow for inrun and landing from the Snow stadium in Neuss to the Rails Spots. Which made riding in the city more dirty and painful. Photobucket But we had a lot of fun with our Friends for a few days. Thanks to the Carhartt boys, to let this all happen!!! At the end of our trip in Köln weh ad our last Isenseven „übermovie“ premiere in Germany, wich was a fun party with our fans. This nice boy Moritz, was so stoked to meet us that he even painted a picture for us with all our movie sponsors. Photobucket After Köln and a few days school, my best friends Peter König, Marco smolla and me were riding at the Nokia Air & Style in Munich for the Rookie challenge. It was my 2nd year at the Air & Style and I can just say its the most amazeing snowboard Copetition I have ever been. Ist so much fun, noise and incredible snowboarding. Its hold in the Olympic soccer stadium in Munich which is an amazeing location. After the Event Marco and me had a signing session with our sponsor O2, where people could win our boards.. Check out www.isenseven.de for the Air&Style Video footage. Photobucket After the Air & Style I had a lot to do for school and tried to film fort he Isenseven movie a few times but the snow conditions in Austria, Switzerland and Germany where so bad that we didn`t had much success. When vacations started I went home to my parents and family to spend Christmas with them and a few days of, which was very cool. After this I went to Garmisch Partenkirchen to spend „New Years“ with the Isenseven crew like every year and afterwards we straight went to Austria to find some snow and get some shots, which wasn’t too good because of the bad snow conditions. So we have hit a lot of handrails during this time. And I went to my Sponsor Vans, Park Opening in Mayrhofen, Zillertal Austria with Silvia Mittermüller. The Park is very great with a lot of small and big Jumps, Rails and Boxes for everybody and even a Halfpipe. You should checkl it out! Photobucket After 2 weeks of family, new years and filming I had to go back to school and write a lot of exams, which took me almost a month of hardcore learning and just snowboarding on the weekends. But its my last year school, so I need to do a little bit more for it. Last weekend we even made an avalance course with a skilled guide in sölden with the whole Isenseven crew, it was very interesting and important for us when we go out filming in the backcountry. Next week I am going to New York and then drive up the whole East Coast of the USA for some urban riding with Michi Zirngibl Chris Patsch and a few other guys from Isenseven. We will stay in the USA for 3 weeks so I think I have to blog a lot of stuff afterwards.... I keep you posted. I wish you all a lot of snow, wherever you are!!! Tobi Photobucket

Quiksilver's Jakob Willhelmson Takes First At The TTR 4 STAR 6 th Red Bull Nanshan Open.

Riders from all over the world take to The Nokia Nanshan Mellow Park for a battle the likes of which China has never seen before-

January 6, 2008 – It was all action here in The Nokia Nanshan Mellow Park as the top eleven from yesterday's qualifier converged for combat. The park was fresh, the riders were stoked and the crowd was larger than ever before.

The WInners, Photo by Lorenz Hoder.

Aside from a small wind in the morning, the weather was nice with blue skies and a spring like temperature. The riders had a tough time in the Finals due to the conditions causing an upset and knocking out our top pick for first, Freddy Austbo, in the first round.

Jake Koia, Photo by Lorenz Hoder.

Down to four riders and on to the super finals where the wind was a little lighter and the competition was tight. Returning rider Jakob Wilhelmson hit both big kickers in his first run with smooth 7's and 5's going big and standing out for the judges. It was so close; no one knew Marc Swoboda would be the runner up. Marc's run consisted of a BS 7 Japan and a FS 5 off the toes. Third went to Atsuchi Ishikawa from Japan who was killing it all weekend. He is also of return Nanshan Open alumni and he took it to the park with huge switch FS 7's and 5's. So stoked to have our asian brother on the podium! Jake Koia followed in fourth position representing the southern hemisphere.

Freddy Austubo, Photo by Lorenz Hoder.

Three-time DMC Champion DJ Wordy was on the snow all day spinning his Wordy-isms for the crowd and getting the onlookers stoked. So much more excitement followed with a live punk show by national punk treasures SKO and Recycle on the Gibson stage. Free Red Bull flowed like water and good times were had by all. Thanks to everyone who came from near and far for the event and high fives to everyone who helped out.

So i finally made it to munich this year =P though drive up there was real tough and tr00 torture…well not all true, but if you go from a party strait to the bus and drive for 6 hours it’s not really pleasant but everything for fame and glory >.< edit: fun anyways ^^

it was around 10 am when we arrived to munich so we went for a mornin’ coffee/tea at fellows (still can’t get over their cinnamon apple tea <3) and then for some shopping and just couldn’t get enough of  those Christmas decorations on the streets. It was kinda magical. But that wasn’t why we were there…nokia air&style!

When we got there I was siked by the size of the jump, it was enormous!! the view on the arena and all the ppl who were already there was also spectacular. After visiting all the tents and participating in every possible award game we drag our self down to the arena (run would be a better term). Just the feeling that you’re there with thousands of ppl who are living and breathing for the same thing it’s simply…amazing. The pressure was rising from the beginning to the end of the event when Kevin Pearce slammed that cab 1260. I was rooting for young Mikkel who came 2nd, not bad at all. No need for me to say that the whole event was a huge success. With The Hives warming up the crowd just before the finals and Sean Paul ending it in the reggae style.

Will sure come back next year ;)

When most people think about China, they imagine Kung Fu, The Great Wall, poverty and communism.  Where these things still make an appearance in our daily lives every so often over here, the new face of China has changed.  In an economy that is flourishing, not only are most snowboards now produced here, but also the sport itself is finding is feet in what turns out to be the new snowboard market that has the most potential in the world.

Just a few short years ago, the population of in China had never even heard of snowboarding (or skiing for that matter), but thanks to Steve Zdarsky and his event The Nanshan Open things are changing.  Nowadays just outside of Beijing you can find 14 ski areas, one of which is Nanshan, the host of the only international snowboard event and the resort which boasts The Nokia Nanshan Mellow Park, the best freestyle area in the country.  With the first and largest event in China, The Nanshan Open with only 6 years behind it is now a 4 star TTR event and has a prize purse of $25,000 US Dollars.  But, things were not always so glamorous…

              Austin Smith, frontside 5.

“The Chinese people remind me of the early 90’s when snowboarding just   started. There is a buzz around it, like the good old days. Nothing but positive passion for this great shredding activity. I’m looking forward to experiencing this wild country once again." -Marc Andre Tarte”

Tadej Valentan with another front 5.
The Open was born when a handful of riders, mostly foreigners living in China, got together in the small but first park on Chinese soil.  The day was reminiscent of those homegrown events that took place twenty years ago in the west, but no one could imagine the potential. For an event to find such success in such a short time in a country that didn’t event have distributors of snowboard goods until a short time ago has never been done before.  And with International media attention, top-level riders in attendance and sponsors such as Red Bull, Quiksilver and Gibson Guitars, the Nanshan Open is putting Chinese snowboarding on the map.

The Nanshan Open has single-handedly driven the progression of snowboarding from a newborn infant to a teenager in the Peoples Republic.  The snowboard scene has by no means reached its potential, but when you witness the Nanshan Open you would never believe that this is Chinese snowboarding.  With Chinese riders competing head to head with international pros, musical acts on stage that are famous nationwide, and video productions like Mack Dawg and The Pirates on hand to catch all the action, its like you were magically taken back to the west for these tow days.

    Atsushi Ishikawa pleasing the crowd.

The park, which was expanded in 2006 by relocating 30,000 cubic meters of earth, is now the only international standard area of its kind in the country. Hosting top riders such as Hampus Mossesson, Marc Andre Tarte, Kier Dillon and Danny Davis, The Nokia Nanshan Mellow Park is an integral part of The Open.  Without the hard work of Steve and his crew of local top riders, the Chinese snowboard scene would sill be unheard of….

The Nanshan Open takes place this January 5th and 6th at The Nokia Nanshan Mellow Park, 20 mins outside Beijing, China.

CHINA’S ONLY INTERNATIONAL SNOWBOARD CONTEST ANNOUNCES THE RETURN OF RED BULL, $25,000 IN PRIZE MONEY AND A 4-STAR TTR STATUS!

Beijing CHINA – November 26, 2007 – The Nanshan Open, the first snowboard contest in China, has announced the return of Red Bull as the official sponsor for the second year in a row.  The annual professional snowboard competition is to be held at Nanshan Ski Resort January 5th and 6th, 2008 for the sixth consecutive year.

As the title sponsor of the Nanshan Open, Red Bull will once again receive title ownership as well as will be fully integrated in the marketing efforts of one of the most media generating sporting events in the country.  The contest has gained mass recognition after its 5 years of success, not to mention induction into the TTR World Snowboard Tour.

“We are more than excited to have Red Bull back as the main sponsor of the Nanshan Open,” said Steve Zdarsky, Mellow China CEO.  “We are now on our 6th year and have experienced continuous growth and this year will be no different.  Red Bull is the perfect partner to support our initiatives to continue to be the best event in China and we will cooperate and aim to push snowboarding in China even further”.

New for this season is a 4-star TTR status, which means riders will not only be battling for a whopping 25,000 American dollars in prize money, but also accumulative points which will ultimately name one snowboarder the best in the world.  Ticket to Ride (TTR) is the governing body of the top events worldwide and pays out $250,000 to the rider in the top spot.  Live music will also be an attraction on the Gibson stage with well-known national acts headlining the event making the Nashan Open the snow party event of the season.

As the worlds most sought after energy drink, Red Bull has taken the initiative to support athletes and sports that are relevant to the passion, activation and self-expression of the brands image.  With the local growth of snowboarding in China, the sport fits perfectly into the “breakthrough the extreme and express the potential” company slogan which has led Red Bull to support many action packed sports around the globe.  With Formula 1, The Red Bull Air Race Series and Skateboard Contests among them, The Nanshan Open gives Red Bull yet another place to showcase their passion for pushing individual limits and their sports to the Chinese public.

The 6th Red Bull Nanshan Open will take place in The Nokia Nanshan Mellow Park, well known for having the best freestyle obstacles in the country.  It was the first freestyle specific area in China and was possibly the best park in the world at contest time last season.  The park boasts an international standard kicker line, over 10 rails and boxes, a giant hip and some special features only to be revealed at on the first day of the contest.  “Its cool to see how Chinese people can [really ride] and this park was super nice”, said the impressed team Quiksilver team rider Hampus Mosseson after taking the top spot at the event last season.  “I’ve been snowboarding for 14years and its crazy that snowboarding has only been here for [such a short time] but they are catching on so fast”.

Nanshan is the best and most visited resort in the country and is the only place with the infrastructure to hold such an event in the region.  Local riders can qualify for their spot in the 6th Red Bull Nanshan Open this December 29th at the Nokia Nanshan Mellow Park.  The Nanshan Open is brought to you in part by Quiksilver  and Gibson Guitars.

and anyone who looks here knows it!

Since my last one, I have bought another car (pug 106 GTi), been promoted at work (now store manager), moved house and been on holiday to France. Not snowboarding though - thats coming up in a few months.

I now manage a mobile phone shop and do ok with it. Its nice and quiet most of the time but it does have its busy moments! I regularly get odd looks from customers who think that, as manager, I should have the most up-to-date phone but instead I have a 5 year old Nokia thats stood up to some brutal crashes whilst snowboarding and kiteboarding. Why would I want to change it?

Went to the final round of the BTCC (Touring cars) yesterday - a good day! Took some mates from the Nissan SX owners club (www.sxoc.com - I'm Teggers on there too!) and we all had a great time - especially as we got VIP tickets from my work!!

Well, I might write another addition here soon. Although it could be another 6 months!! At which point I will have been snowboarding again!!!

Hello People, Sorry this is a very late blog I wrote it like one and a half months ago but according to the Snowboard.com website problems and the problems with my broken Computer I couldn’t post it earlier. Sorryy, but here it still comes. I hope you are all enjoying a good summer wherever you are. Since my last blog where I reported about my last few days in school a lot happened in my life. At first, when summer school vacation started I spent a few days at home to have time with my familie and then I went on holiday to Croatia with my girlfriend Tine and my friend and Isenseven Crewmate Peter König. We had a pretty good time there, a lot of sun, good food, snorkling or just enjoying in the sun to get some Energy for our snowboard trip to New Zealand one week later. Here a few pictures I made in Croatia with my new cellphone Nokia N95 which O2 offered me to picture my trips. Peter and me... rollin Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket Ocean Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket Peter Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket Porec Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket Love Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket After Croatia I had just 2 days back at home to get my stuff done and pack my luggage for New Zealand. Then I went to Munich for my first real Concert in the famous „Atomic Cafe“ Bar, the Band was called „Voxtrot“ from Texas United States and it was just amazeing to watch them playing the tunes. Then the last day before our Flight left, I went surfing with Marco Smolla at the „Eisbach“ river in the centre of Munich. So much fun, there is a big Wave in the middle of the city. It was pretty hard for me the first time but it was real fun. At the next morning, Marco Smolla, Andre Kuhlmann, Peter König and me checked in at Munich Airport. After our last Weißbier and Weißwurst at the Airport Restaurant, we entered our Airplane and left Bavaria. On our trip we stopped at 4 different Airports and one gas station to get to our final destination. According to this 2 day long journey we where pretty excited to move our sore bodies and go Snowboarding. Thanks to Marco and Jorma, that they managed everything about the house and rental car before we got here. The mountain where we always ride here is called Snowpark, it’s one hill consisting of one huge Snowboard Park. With a Superpipe, Quarterpipe, a bigger Jump Line and 2 smaller jib lines on each side with different Obstacles, boxes, rails and smaller jumps. From now on we have one week left. One day we made a trip to the Western Coast of the country which was very exciting, we had barbecue on the beach with our friends from Switzerland and got a view of New Zealand great Landscape. We went skydiving in the morning with our friend Elias Elhardt which was propably the crazyest feeling I ever had, jumping out of a plane in 3500 meter high. After that we played some Golf to relax after this crazy jump. And in the Evening we played some Tennis. This was my favourite day of this trip so far. Fischi the Phographer and Photo Editor from Pleasure Snowboard Magazin just arrived today. So we will focus the next days shooting with him to get some snowboard photos. Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket ... will be continued.

Gulli and David were invited for the rail contest in Montpellier (French X-Games).
Gulli stole the show and went to the finals. after destoying the set up with crazy skills on the rails he ended up falling just once but it was in the finals. So he got second but with a good prize money anyway.
