Whistler/Blackcomb opening day!

Mikey, Browner, Bones, and Smythe-dogg did the boarding this past Thursday on the opening day of Blackcomb. I don't think it was amazing but either way they had a blast as usual and they took some pics to document the day!

These guys are going up to 'get every last piece of that powder!'

Mikey jumped over a f*cking box!

Bones doing a baby method!

Back to the Vill!

Then we went to Portabello for mushroom soup and i think browner really liked it.

This is gonna be one helluva show.....

PortersTahoe.com, Burton Snowboards, Corona, Transworld Snowboarding, Alpine Meadows, Ubisoft, Sobe and the Supersuckers are teaming up on the evening of Saturday, October 25th at The Underground club on 555 East 4th Street in downtown Reno, Nevada to present the Burton Team movie It’s Always Snowing Somewhere. A 7pm all-ages, free showing will be followed at 9pm by a $4.99 cover for a 21-and-over premier of the movie and after-party featuring the Supersuckers. Tickets for the second, 21+ screening are available online HERE or at any of Porters’ four North Lake Tahoe shop locations.

The movie It’s Always Snowing Somewhere follows the Burton Team traveling the northern hemisphere, from Austria to Alaska. It features action footage from Shaun White, Terje Haakonsen, Natasza Zurek, Gigi Rüf, JP Solberg, Heikki Sorsa, Nicolas Müller, Tadashi Fuse, Frederik Kalbermatten, Jeremy Jones, Jussi Oksanen, DCP, Mads Jonsson, Trevor Andrew, Keegan Valaika, Kevin Pearce, Danny Davis, Kazuhiro Kokubo, Mikkel Bang, Mikey Rencz and Peetu Piiroinen.

There are only ten other screenings of the movie across the country, and this will be the only showing anywhere in Northern California or Nevada this year. The first 100 people at the family-friendly, all-ages, free showing at 7pm sharp will receive a free lift ticket voucher to Alpine Meadows Resort and a free tour stop t-shirt. An autograph session will follow at 8pm with Burton Snowboards team riders Jussi Oksanen, Danny Davis, Kevin Pearce, Mason Aguirre, Heikki Sorsa, and Kelly Clark scheduled to appear. Doors open at 9pm for the 21+ movie and after party. Tickets are $4.99 in advance and this is expected to be a sold out show.

Local Tahoe bands Cohesion and Hunks of Metal will play before the second showing of the movie. Hunks of Metal feature early pioneers and legends of snowboarding such as Terry Kidwell, Shawn Farmer, and Bob Klein. When asked to play at the event Bob said, “Who has a chance to open for not only the Supersuckers, but a world class snowboard movie as well? We’re looking forward to rocking the Underground for the first time, hopefully not the last, unless we get too drunk and rowdy!” Immediately after the 11pm screening of It’s Always Snowing Somewhere the greatest live rock ‘n roll band in the world – Supersuckers – will take the stage for a rowdy and raucous set. More local bands are scheduled to finish the late night / early morning in the back lounge room while The Underground’s resident DJ will spin the rest of early morning in the main showroom.

For more information on this awesome night email me at chappy@porterstahoe.com or call us us toll free at 866.967.6783.

You won't want to miss this doozie.......

Holy crap.. Did you see that Party Snake teaser yet? If so there's really only been two responses. 1. You loved it and can't wait to see more or 2. You hated it and wish it would die. There doesn't seem to be much middle ground on this on. Check out some of the comments I found on the Gnarcore site.

I'm still waiting on a revised teaser before I post it directly in the furious blog but you can check the rough version out on the Gnarcore site or find it on FB. There's some pretty funny comments there too:

Wednesday theme slash trusty technics..

Not sure if you've noticed but this is my third blog post in 3 days. Yes, I'm trying to live up to my word. What to blog about today?? Boring team news like??? ah... Kales sleeping, Duff drank 10 coffee's, Dev's golfing, Mikey has a new weird voice mail message, Wille's experimenting with a new hair cut, Tadashi's eating rice... Nah.. I know, I'll use my trusty google and youtube search technic.

Its Wednesday so I googled "Wednesday images". Super creative, yes I know. Anyway, this is the gold that appeared.

You don't stop when you're on a hot streak so I hit youtube next, searched "Wednesday" again and tadah

I've never seen the movie "Big Wednesday" but will definitely be hunting it down to bring along on my "surf trip" or more realistically "drinking beer on the beach trip" at the end of the month.

You ever realize that once you're on youtube its almost impossible to get off. Its like internet crack. 90 percent of the time you're just watching junk but at the time its more like a butter sandwich. So good going down but you know its bad for you. I don't even know why I'm posting this but I bet you'll watch it till the end.

I guarantee your favorite action sports brand will be sponsoring these dudes next week..

Night shooting!!

2008.01.30 (Wed)

Yesterday we went night shooting!
The snow covered the mountain again so it will be really nice.
BUT, the temperature was minus 17 degrees in the morning...I don’t want to get frostbite...

For our night shooting, we need to prepare many equipment, such as lights or generators and it takes more time than daytime shooting.

Look at Tadashi’s back pack! He must be able to fly now.
We've finally figured out how to carry all the equipment!

from left, Koni, Anthony, Dice-K
The generator was on Koni’s sled so it looked like a custom-fabricated sled.
Dice-K could launch out into the universe.

After dark, the session began!
The terrain was kind of complicated and difficult for landing, because sometimes they had to jump into the dark.

Despite the complications, the riders kept trying to get great footage until they got it!
That’s heartfilms riders for ya!

We moved to another spot.
Koni shot sprays of powder.

The time we left our house was 2pm and we got home at midnight...time goes by so fast.
It was a long day for sure.

We will go again TODAY too!

2008.01.30 (Wed)

Trouble...

無念。。。

2008.01.30 (Wed)

The second day of night shooting!
It was really cold - same as yesterday...though it made the snow light.

We concentrated on shooting today.
There was a cool location that the riders can jump out between the trees.
Tadashi first, then Koni.

But something happened when Tadashi dropped in for his second try...!
Suddenly, it blacked out! The lights went down and the generator’s engine had stopped.
We had to stop shooting...

We couldn’t figure out what was the problem.
30-40min later we still couldn't start the engine...

Then we gave up shooting...
Too bad...

Although the generator was dead, we had a darkness session at the end!
They only relied on our sled’s head lights.
Koni shot some spray. The snow was a bit deep.

Tadashi also shot some spray, but he hardly could see anything.

The nice snow made Tadashi happy.
Do you see him happy?

We will go for a night shoot again soon!

KEIJI

LINE

2008.02.06 (Wed)

Hello, it’s Keiji.
I went to Pemberton with Fredi (Burton rider), Jeff&Jess (photographers), Anthony(filmer) and Tadashi.

It was a weekend so there were so many people with their sleds including someone with rifles. Were they hunters?

Which line would you like to ride?

In the afternoon, there was no shooting just some riding.
I really had fun keeping up with Tadashi!
Snow was great too. I loved it!

It’s different to see the line at the top or from the bottom. It’s not that easy to ride the line that I marked...

Tadashi can decide his line while he is riding and even though his lines are so sick, he is having fun!
I feel that riding lines are kind of difficult but the same time it’s very interesting.

Fredi and Tadashi
Fredi is a very friendly and nice guy.

We will go on a road trip with these members.
The goal is Revelstoke. It’s snowing there now and it must be nice!

2008.02.08 (Fri)

At Revelstoke

2008.02.08 (Fri)
Hello, it’s Keiji,
After the eight hours of driving we made it to Revelstoke yesterday!

Today we went snowmobiling but unexpectedly the snow on the mountain was so deep...
It was waist-deep snow so when you land the board stops and keeps sinking like a submarine boat and it was really hard to hike-up too.

It was so foggy that we weren’t able to go up, but at the lower side the snow was heavy...
Difficult situations for searching for spots to ride and shoot.

Ummmmmm... but there must be some good spots!!
We'll keep trying tomorrow too!

2008.02.09 (Sat)

ROAD TRIP DAY3

2008.02.09 (Sat)
It’s the weekend. There are many snowmobilers here.
Someone loaded the sleds like this...
I think tomorrow will be more crowded. There were many funky old men.

There were no trucks at today’s spot, no one must have been there for a long time.
The snow was better than yesterday’s spot.

This is a photo of Lake Revelstoke.

The snow get deeper and deeper as we went into the backcountry.
Even turning around was quite a job.
Everyone got stuck.

Tadashi rarely gets stuck but today he was having a hard time.
We dug too much today.
It was like muscle training.

Tadashi and Mikey.

After we got down from the mountain we washed our trucks.
It’s nice to see a clean car!

A huge truck was next to Tadashi’s.
It’s so huge that Tadashi’s truck looked small.

Tomorrow we may go to the same point.
We’ll try something newer than today.

Keiji,

2008.02.10 (Sun)

Heavy Snow!

2008.02.10 (Sun)

There’s some very heavy snow falling in West Canada.
Some highways are closed down due to avalanches, I heard.
Can we get home??

Jeff Curtes: THIS IS MY BED
www.jeffcurtesphoto.blogspot.com

Today we drove and drove and found some good spots and had some good shooting.
We’ll keep doing that tomorrow too!

This is a photo blog of Jeff Curtes, the Burton photographer, “THIS IS MY BED”.
on the blog you can see the photos he took when he was on his shooting trips.
It’s fun to see that kind of photos on his blog.
He has just started it and it’s going to be sick!
You’d better check this out!

Per request by friends and family of Mikey Peterson. I am passing on information about a service to be held tomorrow, at 12noon, in the White Salmon day lodge, at Mt. Baker

Mikey, a good friend and inspiration to our community passed away in the last twenty-four hours due to a fatal car accident.

For those who are concerned about the other three involved, they are doing well and will leave the hospital in the next few days. One-love to Mike Peterson and his family who remain in our thoughts and prayers.

Regards,
Cowboy

I wanted to make this because I woke up an hour early this morning and I'm bored as hell.
My name's Mike, but I have a few nicknames. Mikey, Big Red, Mr. Med, or just Doc.
Guess where they come from...

Anyway, as you could guess I live for snowboarding. I'm hoping to live in CO soon near breck with my Fiance and best girl in the world. (Yes, better than yours)
Why? Because she's sweet, caring, absolutely gorgeous, and could probably whup your ass if you pissed her off. Very self dependent, and the same needs me as much as I need her.
Quite simply, perfect to me. :)

I started snowboarding in 95 on a piece of plastic crap on a massive hill that daunted my backyard. Since I grew up under just my mothers doting care we didn't have much. I had sort of an old age Burton approach to my boards. I'd add simply things to the board to add flex in one place and ridgidity in the next. I still have that first board, a toys-r-us special thin plastic with a skateboard rigged on the middle for strength. I used to use skateboard wax and a home iron to make it go faster. Nowadays I can buy almost any board I want, but who can forget the old days? In any case I know a good board when I see one.

Nowadays I just travel mostly, trying to keep up with the best fall around the states.
I don't consider myself a pro, but I don't think I'm intermediate. Big jumps still scare me, but I do them anyway.
What a rush.

Yeah thats it for now...

We haven't announced this unitl now so pay very special attention. We printed one very special Still Bastards DVD cover which looks like this:

If by chance you've ordered a Still Bastards DVD online and it features the Benji/JF GT doubling shot for cover art you've just won yourself plus one a night in Paris. We're not talking Paris France what you've won is one night of partying, which also includes a cozy spot on the floor at JF Pelchats Whistler hostel in Emerald. This dream night come true of "french style" partying can only be attained through copies of the Still Bastards purchased through the www.isdsgn.com site. Good luck. Either way you' ll need it..

Squamish news: Muriel "Kale's Grandmorther" has just recently founded a theatre night which is held every Wednesday at their Squamish home. When asked why she responded " I wanted to give Kale and his snowboard buddies something else to do besides wasting their time with those funny cigarettes and facebook".

Photographed below: Mikey, Paavo and Jbone exploring theatre at the Stephens' house.

The groups rendition of the classic "The Wizard of Oz" will premiere at the squamish rec centre at the end of the month. Keep posted for details.
