Young, Willing, & Eager and Bidwhack are giving you the chance to walk away with a brand new snowboard for less than you paid for that mocha your sipping! All you need is a mobile phone and the change in your pocket. Bidwhack can do the rest.

Q. What is Bidwhack?
Bidwhack is the incredible new system that lets YOU WIN amazing auctions for almost nothing! How would you like to win a snowboard for a few bucks? What about a cool phone or some kick-ass swag for pennies?!? How would you like to know that you’re supporting worthwhile charities at the same time? Bidwhack takes old-fashioned auctions and turns them on their heads. Most people can’t participate in traditional auctions for the really cool stuff because the person who has the most money is the winner.
We’ve leveled the playing field! Now ANYONE can win!! All you need is the Lowest Unique Bid or LUB.

Q. What is a Lowest Unique Bid or LUB?
A. It’s simple! The LUB is the lowest bid that only one person guesses. For example, let’s say you bid $1.12. Someone else bids 0.25 cents. Ah, but a third person ALSO bids 0.25 cents.  That cancels out 0.25 cents as the lowest bid. Therefore, you are still the LUB with $1.12. By the time the auction closes, if no one else bids $1.12 OR lower than $1.12 with a unique number then you WIN because it’s the Lowest Bid that only one person entered! If you had bid $1.12 in that LUB auction for, let’s say, a brand new snowboard, then you would have won a new snowboard for $1.12!! Finally, auctions that anyone can WIN!!

Q. How does it work?
Bids can be made by using your cell phone to send a text message to 87878 ($1 per bid charged to your cell phone account. Important: If you use your phone to text in a bid that is less than a dollar, for example 23 cents, then you must put a zero at the front like this, “0.23”.) You can also bid by mailing a hand-written bid to the BidWhack corporate address (must include current date, auction name, bid amount, a return address and a functioning email address). Bidwhack will let you know where your bid is at (Low, High or LUB) for the length of the auction to give you a chance to respond. Winners are notified by phone and/or email and all prizes are FOB Toronto, (meaning that you have to pick them up here, or let us know if you’d like us to ship them.)

Quiksilver Showdown Over the City

Grouse Mountain presents Vancouver’s largest Pro Am Snowboard Contest

with a roster of elite international riders.

January 30th, 2008,  North Vancouver BC – Vancouver’s largest Pro-Am Snowboard Contest is coming to Grouse Mountain on March 28th and 29st.  The Quiksilver Showdown Over the City brings together the best professional and amateur riders from around the world to Vancouver’s backyard playground. For the first time, this event has been selected to be included in the TTR World Tour, the largest international snowboard contest body. With a $20,000 cash purse up for grabs and international recognition, this annual Grouse Mountain event has reached new peaks.

“This is, hands down, the biggest park event to hit Vancouver” says Jeff Silcock, Events Manager at Grouse Mountain.  “Being selected by the TTR World Tour means this year’s event will attract even more pro riders. With an event of this calibre happening minutes from downtown Vancouver, we’re expecting to draw some pretty high calibre talent and big crowds over the course of the weekend.”

Located on the Side Cut run, overlooking the city, the Quiksilver Park at Grouse Mountain is a favourite location for local and international pro riders and filmers not only for its world-class features, but for its unparalleled location and pristine, panoramic views.

“Partnering with Grouse Mountain for this event is exciting for Quiksilver as it allows us to work with our local community” says John Rainnie, Quiksilver Director of Sales and Marketing. “An event of this scale has a significant impact on our local riders, because they are exposed to international talent in their own backyard.”  With Quiksilver as the title sponsor of both the Quiksilver Park and the Showdown over the City, Grouse Mountain continues to evolve its parks and events to meet the demands of the substantial Vancouver park market.

Course Details:

The course will consist of highly progressive jib combos and Grouse Mountain’s infamous twin hips that create the illusion of flying over the Burrard Inlet.  The hips, located at the bottom of the course, are expected to be the biggest and steepest ever to hit the Quiksilver park, attracting veterans like Travis Williams, Spenser Forbes, Logan Short and Johnny Lyall.

Friday:  Amateur qualifier and Night Jib Session

Saturday: Hip, jib and open sessions, awards presentation and afterparty

Photo and filming opportunities include: qualifier, jib session, vendor village, rider practice, jib/hip/open sessions, award presentation and after-parties.

All editorial writers, photographers and filmers must confirm attendance at least 48 hours in advance.  Accredited media will check in at the Base Guest Services office to receive contest and afterparty passes.

Vancouver, B.C. – Airhole – Ninja Masks You Idiot -  Launches in North American and Japan Fall 2007

The Airhole concept is from the twisted minds of Chris Brown and Kale Stephens. It is the most technical concept ever applied on a face mask before. It’s a hole and you breath through it. Sounds simple right? Well it is, you idiot.

“Kale and I were up shredding one day in the backcountry and it was super cold on my face. I had used all kinds of scarves and bandanas before but nothing was ever that comfortable. That’s when I came up with the idea for face masks. The name was formed from clouds of smoke and the slogan came out of Kale’s mouth in the first commercial on the Fury blog @ IS designs’ website. “AIRHOLE: Ninja Masks You Idiot” Out of all of that we got a company on the go”, says co-founder Chris Brown.

We have always been into ninjas growing up and the masks are, well, ninja masks so we decided to go with that theme. They are far superior to anything that you have put on your face before. They have high quality functional materials that will leave you satisfied in cold or sunny situations. They will also look really dope with stylized patterns and ill fits.”

Airholes are available in five different styles, all named after ninja swords and knives, and available in three different colourways: Black Ninja, White Ninja, and Red Ninja. Their team is already heavily stacked: Kale Stephens, Chris Brown, Paavo Tikkanen, Trevor Andrew, Erik Christiansen, Iikka Backstrom, Eero Niemela, Johnny Lyall, Andrew Geeves, Mikey Rencz, Chris Dufficy, and industry veteran Jon Sommers.

Airhole will be available in North America and Japan Fall 2007. Endeavor Snowboards is handling all sales and press enquiries for North America. For more information, please contact Chris Martin at 604.646.4727 or chris@endeavorsnowboards.com.

About

Heavywater Studios is proud to announce the premier of the second episode of It’s Your Life, a five minute peek into the very hectic lives of five professional snowboarders. The second episode stars Endeavor up-comer rider Johnny Lyall.

A cross Canada tour begins the episode, filled with footage and antics reminiscent of the
Wildcats’ days. A live appearance on Muchmusic’s most watched show “MOD” sets the tone for this personal journey through Johnny’s season. Returning to Vancouver, Johnny participates in a two day private photo session at Grouse Mountain. The episode ends with a unique snowboard trip to the Pemberton Ice Caps, where Johnny and his friends jump over bottomless cravaces. Self-filmed confessions using a Nokia N90 camera phone give the episode a truly unique and personal feeling.

Produced by Max Jenke of Endeavor Snowboards and Derek Heidt of Oakley, It’s Your Life intimately documents the aspirations of five professional snowboarders and their friends. The rawness of personal journals and footage filmed exclusively on Nokia camera phones combined with vivid narration, an amazing soundtrack, and first class snowboarding combine to make a unique viewing experience. Episodes launch every two weeks, with the third episode premiering November 15th.

Presented by Endeavor Snowboards, Oakley, Nokia, Snowboard.com, Whistler/Blackcomb, and Heavywater Studios.
