The doors at Olympic Village Lodge at Squaw Valley opened at 7:30 last night and Standard’s movie AESTHETICA was set to start at 8:30. Fuel TV, a sponsor, was on hand filming and reporting from the event. The Fuel TV reporters for the night were Tina Dixon and Jim Rippey. Other sponsors for the night were Porters Lake Tahoe, VAS Entertainment and Squaw Valley USA. As the clock edged towards show time the line to get in was spreading into the parking lot. Soon a roar of applause erupted from inside Olympic Village Lodge. Show time!

Once inside it was shoulder to shoulder and there was standing room only to watch AESTHETICA. The way that the lodge is laid out gave everyone in every corner a view of Standard’snew movie release. Some highlights of AETHETICA was Johan Olofsson’s part on Burton’s Nofish… he was killing the steep and deeps on this bindingless wonder. Torstein Horgmo part where he had an amazing shot at Homewood Ski resort on the west shore of Lake Tahoe As well as the monster spring jump at Alpine Meadows. Another favorite was Mads Johnsson’s part with plenty of fresh powder and steeps. For the rail junkies there was enough urban shredding to feed that need.

When the AESTHETICA drew to a close people started to migrate outside to a cooler and fresher atmosphere then inside where it was smelly and hot. Many folks left because the 21 and under crowd was not allowed at the after party.

To kick off the second half of the night Fortress came out to melt some faces with some good old metal, Fortress was formed in the early 1990’s in Lake Tahoe melting guitar solos by legendary Dave Hatchett, head banging guitarist Brian Harrison, bass by Mike Hatchett and insane drums by Rob Jaeger… Lights, Camera, Action. A little Priest, Maiden, UfO, Metallica and some Slayer had everyone head banging, crowd surfing and beer drinking. The crowd was hungry and thirsty for more metal and Fortress gave it to them rocking out the standard crowd for a solid hour and a half.

The Jared Chronicles: My Day On The Smallville Set!
By: canadian1st

I forgot to post this, and I'm not sure why. I got a free set tour of the Smallville set! It was awsome, I saw the Fortress of Solitude, The Barn, Luthor Mansion, The Kents House, the Daily Planet, and the Hospitol thingy, not only did I get to see the sets but I also met John Glover, the guy who plays Lionel Luthor, Tom Welling (Clark Kent) was there, but he was busy so I didn't get to meet him. I love Smallville, and you should all watch it!  I just hope Taylor dosn't read this, or he may kill me. Peace!

The day was Sunday, February 26th 2006.  Jeff Corrie and I were planning on an awesome day at Fortress.  Little did we know that if you lack a 4by4 you were not getting up the road.  If that is what they call I road I would hate to see the traverses there.  So we turn around and go to Nakiska.  Get the tickects sharlp a couple of runs on Silver to warm up.  Next run I decide I want to hike Bears Claw this dinky little run off to the left (skiers right) of the silver chair.  When I make it to the top to stop and enjoy the scene I notice that the chair was no longer running.  I made my way to the park to find a crew of rock n' rollers hikkinh the first table.  Props to Sanford on the cab 5's by the way.  So I hike for a bit...  get to the bottom and we decide to get a new lift tickect for another day...  turns out those 3 runs we got in took us into the half day ticket price so we didn't even get our moneys worth back.  Jeff and Corrie decide to go home but not this rapscalion.  I go to COP to take some turns.  At the end of my shrerd I realise that my expensive cell had gone missing.  It has stayed missing since then.  That was my wonderful Sunday.  I hope yours was a little better.

Oh and PS leave your number if you want me to call you sometime.
Because you know I lost my phone.

So on sunday I tried to jib the old ski jumps at fortress on our way back to the car... they have perpendicular boards sticking out and i caught my tail on the way down and landed on a metal fin putting a "two centimeter hole" (according to patrol) in my right hip which is now a big swollen purple handle of love. The patrol towed my sorry ass through the flats to get back to the bottom of the hill cause i couldnt really walk too well. So thanks fortress patrol, you guys rock. I've learned my lesson never to jib on a pow day.

Nakiska had a huge-ass park. they're super pipe was dope and all the hits are huge. I saw som guy hit a massive 900 or 1080 but i couldn't tell cuz he disappeared over the other side of the jump. I really like every single mountain for different reasons but i think next season is gonna be spent around the fernie area. I go Back to riding at marmot tomorrow.... hopefully my new warrantied bindings came in. if tour not riding lately... man oh man, better get on it. there's less then 55 days left for the season.
