Snowboard tech, it draws excitement for the season and like a new supercar, everyone wants the newest developments. The reality is most of us have limited funds so buying a snowboard is a big deal because dropping $300, $500, even $1000 on a deck is a something we have so save extra cash for. We all want the board that makes us honestly say "This is the best snowboard I've ever owned" Here is what the guys at Prospect have concocted and where their board construction fits into a long line of snowboards.

Reverse Camber "Tangent Tech" and Concave Base

Reverse camber has been established as boards that are great for park riding, powder riding, and great beginner boards. Although, just because beginners will like reverse camber it doesn't mean a hardcore thrasher won't like the same board. Prospect's "Tangent Tech" is a park and powder friendly board. The main factor is the camber height. Prospect's Tangent tech is designed for an optimal ride with the nose and tail raised by 5 millimeters. Boards with more reverse camber are great in powder, but unstable with any other riding. Less reverse camber improves riding stability, but reduces float in the powder and doesn't have that catch free ride.

Prospect's Concave base construction takes reverse camber to the next level. The base on the Tangent Tech lies deeper down the middle for the length of the board. With the edges sitting slightly higher it offers a catch free ride in the park. This means you won't stick to rails or catch a random edge. The goal of Tangent Tech is to offer a mellow reverse camber that performs well in both powder and park. Tangent Tech and concave base construction make Prospect's boards appealing to an audience that wants a "go to board" for all parts of the mountain.

Bamboo Sidewalls and Longer Effective Edges

All Prospect Snowboards offer bamboo sidewalls and longer effective edges for better overall control. The Bamboo sidewalls offer multiple benefits. Specifically it is lighter, stronger, and adds stability to the overall ride. Without getting too technical, bamboo is 25% lighter and its tensile "burst" strength is 2 times as strong as regular core material meaning more pop. Being set at the sidewall, the stiffer bamboo offers torsional stiffness and natural vibration dampening, leading to a faster, more stable platform. Bamboo is being used more in snowboarding not only because it of its high strength to weight ratio but it also lasts because it is continuously strong even when temperature drops. Neil Henderson, the owner of Prospect snowboards says "My goal was to make the fastest, hardest carving true twin snowboard available".

To accompany the benefits of bamboo sidewalls, Prospect's geometry stretches out the effective edge, aka contact points as far as it can go. This adds to the ride stability andactually provides the performance of a longer board. According to Neil, "It's like adding 2 to 4 cm of length without having to ride a heavier, longer board." The longer effective edge puts the contact points closer to the tip of the board giving your edges more surface contact to grip in turns. This means less washing out of hard carves and smooth, stable turns for maximum control. Together, bamboo sidewalls and the longer effective edge Prospect's boards offer harder carves and a ride smoother than other freestyle decks. Neil believes this sidewall and effective edge combination are the most underrated manufacturing techniques that contribute to his goal of making the fastest and hardest carving true twin available.

Rubber Dampeners and Strategic Carbon beams

Also underrated in the design of snowboards is rubber dampening, carbon fiber beams, and even more so their placement inside the construction of the board.

Prospect uses rubber in sandwich/sidewall snowboard design to reduce shock and vibration in turns and while landing big hits. According to Neil, rubber stripping is placed around the outside of the board and in the middle sections to act like a shock absorber. He says “Rubber placement is key to a boards ride because it turns the overbearing rigidity into smooth fluid movements.” His smooth ride philosophy on rubber dampening also contributes their boards lasting ride and overall durability. The way snowboards are ridden they are continuously flexed over and over again. Without sufficient rubber dampening the epoxy bonds break down leading to a lifeless board with no pop and it will eventually break. The rubber Prospect places inside the board allows small amounts of flex between the layers reducing wear on the epoxy bonds.

The Carbon laminates Neil puts in Prospect’s boards are common among most snowboards, but he believes his carbon “X-beams” also add to the boards ride. “Our X-beams are placed from the feet to the contact point at the edge. This allows Prospect to have lighter cores with added spring back. The carbon placement also contributes to their tensional stiffness, adding to the overall stability at high speed. Neil’s take on carbon fiber is: “We tried different carbon patterns, stringers, an “A” pattern on each end, Inverted “A’s”; the X pattern is the only thing that directly transfers power from your feet to the edge. There is a small sacrifice in low speed carving, but who rides slow?”

Seamless Edges, great construction, and great warranties

Also on the top of Prospect’s priority list is making bombproof boards. While no one should condone using a snowboard as a bomb shield, the fact is Prospect has developed 2 more ways to ensure Prospect is known as a brand that makes premium snowboards that perform and last. Neil’s philosophy is “I’m a product guy. I believe that the best products are better than the best marketing. Prospect isn’t a statement in style as much as it is a statement in quality.”

There is a few steps Prospect has taken to assure they achieve that quality. First, the Premier Special Edition Models have “Seamless edges”. Their edges are high carbon, hardened steel with no cut seam; a real 360 degree edge. This was developed to reduce edge failures from hard hits against rocks, trees, and rails. Second, the Two-part flexible epoxy serves as a dampening system, increases flexibility, and prevents delaminating. Neil’s take on Prospect’s epoxy system: “Our epoxy mixture adds a rubber like characteristic to the compound. It makes the boards tough as nails. “When we do Prospect Demos we always tell riders Hey, go break this board. We’re still waiting.”

Prospect Snowboards is on a mission to bring some killer decks to the table. They aren’t well known and they don’t dump their cash into marketing. Instead they stick to their mission. To drive home their point they gave all Prospect Snowboards a 2 year warranty and Neil Assures they stand by their warranty; if you break your board riding we’ll fix it free or you get a replacement if we can’t fix it. Good points, and Neil concludes by saying “Hey, ya know, we’re putting up a true effort here to bring out boards that pushes the accountability of a snowboard company. We listen to what each individual rider wants and we work to build that into our boards.”

Prospect Snowboards isn't in every snowboarder's daily vocabulary and we don't have a problem with that. Being a non-corporate anti establishment board company, I guess you can say our marketing isn't awesome. Well... our commitment to making amazing snowboards is awesome. While we aren't interested in corporate subculture that comes with being a mainstream snowboard manufacturer it doesn't mean the industry isn't recognizing what makes Prospect rad.
The New Kid in Town Prospect as an up and coming board company is getting tons of leverage from people and industry publications because of our "by snowboarders for snowboarders" core culture. Coverage on Snowboard-review.com, by the SoCal Skate/Snow crew Concreteownage.com, and abc-of-snowboarding.com shows our company is winning the favor of core industry players. Among the the best programs going in snowboarding is Prospect's Design Co-op which lets snowboarders and businesses design their own custom boards. Our Co-op gives designers real access to getting their designs published without paying a fortune for an individual custom board. So far, the Co-op has made custom boards for Honey Goat Brewery and Adrenaline Power Sports for the 09/10 season.

09/10 Prospect Gear
Prospect's board construction is also a constantly evolving machine to assure our boards take the beating you dish. Our 2 year warranty proves there is no doubt about the quality of our boards, but innovation with rubber dampening, bamboo sidewalls, seamless edges, and re-engineered carbon placements gives Prospect decks a super smooth ride and consistent flex. Also, our "Tangent tech" reverse camber snowboard is an amazing park and powder deck. The real secret; our convex base. If you want a base that rides super smooth in the powder and doesn't catch on rails in the park you'll never be disappointed. If tech isn't your concern, our "Vitality" line carries the best of both worlds: Built for lighter riders and urban riding the Vitality line yells fun. Other projects coming out of the Prospect development lab demonstrate our values for hand crafted goods. Our newest Project, screen printed Logo T-shirts are made by hand will killer comfortable shirts and no 2 are exactly the same. And last, but no least, our newest product, Prospect Graphite Snowboard Wax makes you board lightning fast in all conditions. It works by conducting electricity to minimize friction with the surface of the snow. Absolutely genius and made with environmentally friendly ingredients.

Smokin Snowboards
Smokin snowboards
Smokin Snowboards
So the Smokin Snowboard factory tour last week had more to it than just the tour, we also went down to pick up some 2010 newly pressed decks. I was lucky enough to nab the new M.I.P. D.I.R.T. Rocker with Magne-Traction with some custom graphics brought to you by JP Lagos at Thesnowlife.com. I was even more excited to try out Smokin’s Magne-Traction since out snow has been rock hard as of late and last time I rode a board with magne it made the saying “Turns ice into powder” hold true. Friday afternoon of last week Squaw was still pretty firm with a nice east wind keeping things rather chilly, so what better time to go try out Smokin Jay “the evil genius’s“new concept.

My first thoughts was the same as any of the other reverse camber boards I have ridden, the nose seems to hook a little quick when you really get the board on edge. Once I detuned the nose and tail a little the board simply took off. The M.I.P. has a great predictable flex that reminds me of many of the old boards from the good old days. Jay doesn’t use fancy barely known named stuff to create his sticks yet he produces a board that rivals all those high-end uber scientific factories. The M.I.P. holds a super fun edge, makes a snappy turn and rebounds really predictably that you can stray away from the park and still rip turns. I have complained for a few years now that many companies are making boards to specific to one discipline and are hard to enjoy on every part of the hill. I think the smoking M.I.P. brings back the idea that you can have a great park board that doesn’t sacrifice the rest of the mountain.

If you are looking for a great park and all around board that’s actually handmade the new 2010 Smokin M.I.P. D.I.R.T. Rocker is gonna blow your mind.

What about the graphics? JP Lagos designed the graphic based loosely off the Obey “Obama” Poster series. Taking funny pictures and translating them into the Obey scheme, JP created a series of Bromodel snowboards. All the boards were either using Smokin’s 2010 M.I.P. blank or the 2010 Superpark blank. So the boards that were in the pictures being finished during the factory tour were none other than the bromodel boards. Special thanks to JP for including my funny grill on a snowboard and Smokin Jay for pressing a super fun board!

Effective April 1 - 30, 2003 the Forest Service will be implementing and enforcing a Supervisor's Closure on Vail Mountain, which will prohibit unauthorized access to the Minnie's Deck area where the end-of-season BB&B event has occurred. The Forest Service issued a directive to Vail Resorts under the terms of their special use permit to shut down the BB&B event on Vail Mountain. Historically the BB&B event has taken place at Minnie's Deck and the event had evolved into a gathering of as many as 2,000 people. The behavior of participants posed serious risks to public health and safety as well as caused resource damage. The Supervisor's Closure will be in effect to ensure protection of public health and safety.

So, with a stroke of the pen, the US Forest Service ended the infamous end-of-season party on Vail Mountain, ending a 22 year tradition.  Know by many variations, Boobs, Boomers and Beers; Buns, Boobs, and Beers; Boobs, Booze and Brews, etc, (BB&B) was held on the second Tuesday in April as a way for Vail valley residents and employees to blow off some steam at the end of the season.  The event started in 1980 as a small end-of-season birthday party on Minnie's deck. BB&B devolved into an orgy of drinking, snowball fights and raucous behavior. During the last several years, partiers spent days before BB&B building large snow forts, stashing large quantities of alcoholic beverages, and, too often, hauling up more illicit substances.

Historically, the end of season party probably started much earlier with the Great Race.  This season-ender was usually held in Lionshead and People would dress up in all kinds of wild costumes. A photo of Vail local hooligan Packy Walker standing on the winner’s podium wearing nothing but a fig leaf and his gold medal made the front page of the Vail Trail newspaper. After Vail executives and lawyers killed that event people continued to get costumed up and party at Minnie's Deck.  In those days it was called the mountain formal.  Costumes included top hats and suits as well as high school prom dresses, horrible powder-blue tuxedoes and ballerina tutus.  The event grew and was combined with Warren Miller’s Mad Mountain Marathon and the Rubber Legs Slalom.  The race involved 150 or more slalom gates at the bottom of Vail Mountain and the event raised money for local charities.

When I was there in the spring of 2002, my brother Travis, his wife Michelle, Mayela and I went to the BB&B.  We all carried backpacks loaded with beers, booze and buds.  When we arrived at Minnie's deck the atmosphere was relaxed and people were lounging on the deck in the sun enjoying the event.  We set up camp on the deck and in one of the nearby snow forts crafted by a group of Beaver Creek's happyshack community.  We took some runs and explored the other various snow forts in the woods.  It was amazing the elaborate complex of forts and the adornments within.  Some had full Ice sculpture bars complete with barstools carved from compacted snow.  Others were complete igloos with only a small portal in the roof for ventilation.  Another was an elaborate maze to thwart cops and security spies.

As the day continued, there were jam sessions on the numerous rails that had been created in the woods.  One was a 50 foot long triple wave that dumped out into the main area opening.  Eventually the traditional snowball fight erupted with the main focus from the snow forts surrounding the opening at Minnie's deck.  Some forts were equipped with water balloon launchers.  A couple of times I snuck out through the woods with my snowboard to take runs down born free.  After riding the gondola back up to the top, I'd come rolling into the woods with my pants down and flipping the crowd off in my black afro.  The trick was to ride fast and get to the fort as quickly as possible.  Poor unfortunate souls that tried to follow in the wake turbulence of my entry would get blasted into oblivion.  I would stand on the wall and yell out obscenities to the enemy forts.  The response was a furious barage of snowballs.  People were getting pissed because we were getting bombed with snow.  One time, standing on the wall, I took a water balloon launcher shot to the chest that blasted me flat on my back.  Heffe came right up like a  medic with the Jaegermeister bottle to nurse me back to insanity.

In the evening when security starts to herd everybody out of there is a Chinese downhill of sorts.  This race to the pub progresses down the mountain. There is one particularly steep pitch where people who are so f*cked up that they just take their skis off and hurl themselves bodily down the face, laughing their drunken asses off.  I came up to the edge and launched the hand bag I was carrying as high in the air as I could--only to find out Mayela had her camera in it.  We all ended up at the bars in Vail village till the weee hours of the morning.  It was amazing.  I'm glad I got to experience the greatest party on earth before it was over.  Good times

As kind of a sick footnote to all of this, the event has been commercialized in a couple of different forms. Never shy about making a buck off the sweat and toil of the locals Vail Resorts promptly christened Siebert's Mad Mountain Marathon and Beaver creek Blues, Brews, and Bar-B-Que. There is no limit to the depth of slime with Vail Management.

It finally snowed a few days ago but its all melting now.
Its quite depressing actually. I was up on the hill in my backyard, setting up my launch deck on the top of the hill today and when I looked around it looked more like a cruddy spring day then November. Its too warm and it putting me in a not so cheery mood. So what now? Well, more waiting I guess, not much else can be done. I guess thats what brings me here, writing in a rather pointless and eventless blog posting.

Bored, tired and hopping for snow.

My Journal: 08/09
By: Raze

Seems I hadnt updated since like march. My trip to Colorado was SIIICK.  I never did so much glade riding in my life. Crazy stuff. All the mountains had something to offer, though I think I enjoyed Copper the most. We were up on an ice bridge at the top of a mountain, and we took some off the beaten path/possibly out of bounds trail down. Lost my friend along the way, totally untracked stuff, not even snowmobile tracks around. I thought I was gonna end up popping out on the highway. I truly was alone, riding through glades and jumping over small creeks, lost in the wilderness, so I thought. BEst riding experience ever.

I did learn something about me though. I found that I truly am more of a freerider than a freestyle person.  I only do freestyle at Creek because that's ALL there is to do, and I don't even do that too often, due to icy conditions/crappy landings.

Anyhow, the new season approaches and I pretty much have all new gear from last season, though I'm probably going to swap out my freestyle deck with something stiffer, like a Skunk Ape or the such.

RAMPAGE SERIES

The Rampage Series is a collaboration between Endeavor Snowboards and Ransom Holding Co., a Canadian street wear label focused on quality garments with an urban flavour. Over the past three seasons, Ransom has gained  recognition, being sold in street wear's elite accounts Union, HUF SF, Kicks HI, and their own stores Ransom and Goodfoot. The crew over at Ransom are avid snowboarders and friends of Endeavor, so what better company to collaborate with than them! For more information on Ransom, look online at www.ransomholdingco.com.

The graphic of the Rampage Series pays homage to the boards we learned how to snowboard on. This particular one was inspired by the Kemper Rampage, which had paint splatters all over the topsheet. The base is sublimated to get poppy colours and a rich black. The topsheet is very simple, inspired by prototype boards Endeavor makes for R&D. The minimalist style with a textured tone on tone graphic is consistent with both brands images.

The Rampage Series is an all mountain freestyle snowboard. With a medium flex, carbon stringers, Kevlar binding reinforcement,  and a poplar/quaruba wood core, this deck is fully loaded.

April 22, 2008 I wake up and look at my clock which sais 1:00 PM Whao, how did I sleep till one, and how come my mom didn’t give me crap for sleeping so long? is the first thing that comes to mind. Then my mom walks in and starts rambullshi*ting about how the breaker jumped and i have to many things plugged in. So I go to the kitchen to check the time, turns out it was just 9:48  So I set my clock, then the phone rings. After a short chat on the phone my mom sais “ Dad called he’s coming with the tractor go shovel the decks.” It had finally stopped snowing after about three days of heavy snowing. I didn’t think there would be very much snow, but when I walk out I found myself waddling in two foot tall drifts all the way down the side walk. Once I got to the garage I was standing beside a 5 foot tall drift of snow. Haha, winters back! I think I was the only one who though this big dump of snow was awesome, everyone else was like damn it. While shoveling the snow I take a quick look at my hill in the back yard, sweet there enough snow on it to shred so I make up my mind to go hit it after I was done. Work then play, so I finish up, get my gear and walk to the hill. My little sis and bro were following me but they had to stop since the snow was so deep my little sis couldn’t  get though. So I get to the hill and it turns out that there’s only snow on half of it, so I only had half a hill to shred, but it made it easier to walk up. Once on top and strapped in I head down and get stopped by a big drift. Well that was lame. I go back up and try it again, this time I make it down and hit my little blue barrel.  Then I see my bro coming back and he sais “The snow is so deep you could do like back flips and not get hurt!” I then decided to build a jump and try. So I unstrapped and head out in search for something to build a jump with. (since the last time I built a jump with just snow it was tiny, and took for ever to make.) We look around for a bit and see nothing. So we decide to start building the jump anyway. On the way I spot some bails, perfect!  My bro sais “there some right by the hill we just have to dig them out.” We find the bails no problem. Three square bails made up the base of our jump, we piled snow on it for about an hour and my bro was tired and cold so he went in. I finished up the jump, then pushed and packed the snow in a line down to the jump. Every time I looked back there was always something that needed fixing, but I was starving so I had to go in. Right when I get to the door I see my brother standing there with a grilled cheese and ham sandwich in his hand. He sais “I was brining you some food!” What a sweet little bro lol. But I had already taken my boots off, so I went in and had some soup with my sandwich. It was past two when I got in. Around 3:00 my brother and I headed back out to try out the jump. I walk up, hit the jump and don’t even get enough speed to get over it. I try again, and same thing is repeated. So we shave down a little bump, that I had made to help me go faster, but it just slowed me down. I hit it again and got over, but I just drop of the end. We do an bunch more trial and error, then we get called in by my mom. I didn’t even get a good jump in and it was already supper time. The next day I’m determined to fix the jump. I look around the yard to try and think of something. I walked over to my little sisters fisher price slide, and get an idea. I take the slide part off, and haul the base (Which is 4ish feet tall, 2ish feet wide and 3ish feet long.) to the top of the hill. I packed it down, cover the top in snow and tadah, a steeper hill! I get up, strap in and drop. Problem fixed! I hit it a few more times, go in for supper, then go back out till dark. The next day, my big sistah tried it out. After about 5 minutes of saying “Omg your retarded, who would build such a thing? Are you serious? Your on crack!” she hit the jump. She then hit it a bunch more times. After I convinced her to give me my board back, she made me jump over her. Crazy gurl! The first two times I bailed, I was sure something stupid would happen. But I finally got over it and jumped over her no prob…so I did it again lol. Then she jumped over me, I’ll admit it was a little bit scary! And the day was over. Even though the hills are shut we still shred!

We did a little interview about this cool skate design website called popdeck.com and we are giving away one board to one lucky gnarcore user.

See gnarcore.com   for full story and details.

Skateboarding, art and the web, Parker Newman from Popdeck.com talks about his recently launched skateboard design community.

What is Popdeck all about?

Popdeck is essentially a skateboard design competition.  Started out as a passion between our love for design/art and skateboarding.  We have always collected cool decks as art after we skated them up, and this was just the natural progression...........

Beijing, CHINA –

Hundreds of people from all over the world gathered
in the Nokia Nanshan Melow Park under floodlights that could be seen
for miles.  China’s top riders were showing the crowd what this great
country has produced; rail ninjas true and true.

DJ Wordy took to the decks at 8pm with his original hip-hop-to-heavy-
metal-mash-up sound while spectators from near and far headed up to
the park.  The riders jibbed, destroyed and got their grind on in
this rail only event during the one-hour jam session and showed us
all what Chinese snowboarding is about.  The park was in perfect
condition, including the ispo rainbow box made entirely from snow not
to mention free beers were flowing courtesy of Quiksilver and ispo
china.

The riders had only 60 minutes to show what they had and Li Xian Yi
was the first to pull a sick Gap to Flat to BS Boardslide Down which
scored him the first of the crisp cool 50 kuai bills offered by the
judges.  X-Fox was also on point with a couple of mad whirly birds
over the fun box leaving him in the running for Rail Disaster Of The
Night.  Andrew Wilde warmed up and schooled them all with a more then
sick FS to BS Boardslide Combo and we were definitely blown away by
Wanglei who pulled a crazy  Rodeo Back Flip Maneuver over the ispo
Ice Box.  Whew!  All these guys walked away with sick prizes courtesy
of our gracious sponsors.  Even the ladies were on point with Yindi
leading the pack and walking away with a  Dakine wheelie board bag,
not to mention three crisp, cool 50 kuai bills.

With tonight’s giant crowd including some of the biggest names of the
Snowboard industry, The Quiksilver Night Rail Session made history
once again.  This once small but influential event brought the top
riders of this great country together and along with the love from
ispo china and Quiksilver we were able to promote snowboarding and
push our favorite sport even further.

Everyone had a fabulous time and we really could not have asked for a
better night. A special thanks to our sponsors Quiksilver, ispo,
Dakine and Kagen…Yee Haw!

The snow is lovely. I love the lovely white snow. I love to love...but my baby just loves to dance, he wants to dance, he loves to dance... HAHAHAHAH! HA!

I am super excited because today we just had our first snowfall here in the wonderful city of Montreal. OOOH I LOVE IT! The weekly forecast announces up to 20cm of snow!!! (wet snow sadly) But who cares! Winter is here and the snowboarding season is on its way!!! YAHOO! Watch out skiers!!! But we still love ya! Anywho, now not only is it wet snow falling, the wind is blowing harder too... dammit... I guess Montrealers will have a white Christmas after all!

On to snowboarding... I'm getting back my deck this weekend, or when I have cash to pay for the damages... Man did Le Massif kill me!!! Too much flat land! How ironic for such a huge mountain! I can't wait to get back on and start riding again!
(not that kind of riding.. you ppl think i'm a freak doncha?) But, I must admit that le sex is pretty good! When needed and well deserved I might add! (my blogs are quite random aren't they?)

More to come in the following months.

(not that come)

We went skateboarding to Pemberton yesterday.
Pemberton is just 30min. north of Whistler by car and it’s a town richly
endowed with nature.
There are farms, ranches and golf courses so my impression of Pemberton is
like “an easygoing town.”

From Taka...

I joined the CAMP OF CHAMPIONS of Canada from the end of June to the beginning of July.
This time I practiced a lot of kickers and rails rather than the usual half pipes that I ride...
I had fun times and was blessed with good weather.

After this I’m heading to Mt. Hood!
I haven’t practice half pipe for a while but I can hang tough at Mt.
Hood because I learned something at the COC camp...I hope?

This morning, Shota and Taro left for Japan.
Everybody is leaving Canada and it makes me sad...
This season, Shota had his first experience with snowmobiling.
When he started riding his sled, he wasn’t good at all but at the end of
the season he became jump crazy. :)
We got so many things done in the unfamiliar back country.
I hope Shota will enjoy and be relaxed in Japan.

I saw some ladybugs when I went snowmobiling last time.
I was surprised to see that ladybugs live up in the mountain too. So I looked
closely...
You know what? There were some heart shaped prints on their back?!
I felt a heart connection with the ladybug and that made me happy.
This was my first time to see ladybugs. They must have emerged from
hibernation.

Hello, it’s Keiji-filmer.

Yesterday Tadashi came back from his trip to Hawaii and Las Vegas and today he left for Japan to do some Burton and Redbull stuff.

What a busy guy!

Lately, we are having so much rain in Whistler.

It’s unusually cold and not very sunny for this time of year.

We have started to edit our film so some times I don’t leave the house all day.

Nobu is eating Pringles like a bear. Pringles is his dinner today.

In a few days on heartTV, the KFC face off between Dice-K
Maru (photographer) and Zizo (photographer) will be shown!

The rule is very simple. Who can eat the most Kentucky Fried Chicken...

We Do Not recommend attempting this...You should just enjoy KFC!

お楽しみに!

を紹介します。
なんせ働き者なんです。ほらこの通り。

2007.06.12 Tuesday

Hello, it’s Koni!

Today, we introduce one of the silent forces of heatfilms - KEIJI TAJIMA!!!

He is a really hard worker. See?

Originally Keiji was a rider and stormed into Canada to do some snowmobiling
with his friends.

When he snowboards without his camera bag, he is really excited
and has so much fun.

I believe that carrying that big, heavy, camera bag (it’s
even bigger than Keiji himself) is much more stressful work than we could
imagine.

He became Tadashi’s filmer since...I don’t know when, but now he can
even use a 16mm camera!

He has grown up...Even though, I got to know him only recently though ...haha.

I would like to write about Keiji more and more but I should stop here.

Good night.

2007.06.15 Friday

There was a BURTON meeting at Odaiba, Tokyo!

It was such a productive meeting!

I was reminded that it’s important to listen to everybody’s opinions and also to express my opinions!

This morning, Shota suggested to go to the Tokyo Tower and we all went there.

It was really good exercise.

The Soba (buckwheat noodle) which we ate on our way home was so tasty.

I was super sweaty all day but enjoyed myself! Japan is HOT!!!

Knock knock knock!!
Someone was knocking on our door!!
We didn’t expect any visitors today...
Taro, Nobu and Keiji were editing then we froze...
We open the door very slowly...
There was...

どーもー
たかでーす。いきなりウィスラー来ちゃいました。
とりあえずハートメンバーとミーティング。
パソコンの多さとみんなのじみな作業にびっくりです。

Hello!! This is Taka!! A sudden visit to Whistler to ride CAMP OF CHAMPIONS new pro camp!!! -www.campofchampions.com
Anyway, We had a quick meeting with the Heart members and I was surprised by the number of PCs and editor’s that were working so hard!

いまパソコン講習中。 次からブログに書き込み出来るかな、、、?
Now I’m in a lesson. I should be able to write a blog next time...

たまには…Once in a while...

Hello this is Keiji.
We should leave the house once in a while so today I went skateboarding with Tadashi and Zizo.
The skateboard park is underground in a parking lot in Creekside so it’s nice that we don’t need to worry about the weather.
Tadashi looked happy to skateboard on his favorite new deck.
We had a good time and worked up a sweat.

This time of the year, we can have fun snowboarding, skateboarding,
mountain biking, rock-climbing and more.
It’s so nice and even nicer if we could have little more sunshine.

最近コットンツリーから飛びまくっている綿。空に舞ってる時は雪みたいです。

This cotton looks like it’s snowing.

That's right bitches, it's only a few short weeks til the slopes are open to shred. It's been way too long (well since the end of July, but 3 1/2 months is still too long), but it's finally around the corners. I thought I'd reach out to my fellow stoked boarders and see who else is so excited they shake and can barely sleep?
I pick up my WB pass tomorrow and should get my ass in gear towards pro-dealing a new pow deck for the season, but I'm still beyond excited to ride.
See you all in my dust in a few weeks... We'll share a run, but stay out of my way on a powder day :P
