Hello friends,

Please mark off THURSDAY APRIL 9TH on your calendars, as you are all requested to get out of the office and join Malakye, KNOW?SHOW, Coors Light, SBC and IS Eyewear for a fun day of shredding at Grouse Mountain.

This is the day for you to band together with your co workers and come enjoy endless cups of coffee and bottomless boxes of Donuts, and shred some office boy (and girl, of course) sized obstacles. How does Quasi-Big Air sound? Those who came out last year remember the joy of the hippy jump. There will be "Brass Balls" awarded, "Blue Balls" called out, a "Scorpion King" Crowned, and success in your work will be measured pound by pound in the weigh off. Many other prize categories are up for grabs, and this year, we welcome you to help us out by giving us your ideas for categories and/or supply us with some used office furniture to build into the course.

Malakye just finished Office Booyz USA, click this link to get stoked.

You all know this event started right here in Vancouver, and though it looked like a good time at Bear, will definately be one not to miss in Vancouver.

To have an entry form for the Office Booyz contest sent to your office or to sponsor a prize category click here!

Duff's Bday Party at the Molson Brewery! Rep of the Month.

Duff celebrated his 19th Birthday at the Molson brewery this weekend. Here's some of the action I captured in between the many free pints of frosty cold Coors Light.

What a great time. Free beer, pizza and front row seats to the Duff and friends flex off. Martins called it about 20 minutes before it happened.

Even Tom Lee from POP printing made an appearance. Above he closely inspects the print quality of Duff's head.

Rep of the Month:
Rep of the month for October goes to Benny Couves for his feat of extreme office boydom with a pickled ollie at the Tofino park.

Yeah Couves! You win the left over Coors Light from our Monster Sale located in the mini fridge at Trustus.

Online competitor registration is now open for the first-ever Burton Canadian Open, taking place from December 1-7, 2008 at the Calgary Olympic Development Association’s (CODA) Canada Olympic Park in Calgary, Alberta. CODA has been providing world-class sport facilities for Olympic development for 20 years and Canada Olympic Park is home to the exact duplicate of the halfpipe that will be built for the 2010 Winter Olympics.

The third stop on the 2008/2009 Burton Global Open Series and a SWATCH TTR 5Star event, the Canadian Open will include slopestyle and halfpipe competitions, offering riders the chance to earn a piece of the $50,000 USD prize purse and gain valuable points towards Burton Global Open Series championship titles and the Swatch Ticket To Ride World Tour championship titles.

Here’s how to register to compete:

Head to www.opensnowboarding.com, go to the Canadian Open homepage and click on Registration in order to register online for the Registration Waitlist. Registration will be open until October 20, 2008. If we receive more registrations per format than the number of pre-qualification spots available, riders will be selected from the Registration Waitlist based on their BGOS standings/results and their TTR standings/results, with priority given to the riders with the best standings/results. On or before October 27th, you will be notified VIA EMAIL (and only email) if your registration has been successful and that your entry for the Canadian Open Halfpipe and/or Slopestyle Pre-Qualifiers is confirmed. At that time, your credit card will be charged a non-refundable $75CAD per discipline as applicable. If your name is not selected, you will automatically be added to the waitlist (which shall be selected at random). Top pros will receive special invites to compete. For complete details/rules on the registration process, visit the Canadian Open home page on opensnowboarding.com.

With events scheduled year-round and in six countries, the Burton Global Open Series boasts the most lucrative cumulative prize purse in snowboarding – over $900,000 – with equal prize money to men and women. All six Burton Global Open Series events offer riders the chance to earn points towards a male and female championship title, each worth $100,000, currently the largest single payout in competitive snowboarding. Following this summer’s New Zealand and Australian Opens, Luke Mitrani (USA) and Jamie Anderson (USA) are in the lead for the $100,000 Burton Global Open Series Championship title.

The Burton Global Open Series is also part of the SWATCH Ticket To Ride (TTR) World Snowboard Tour, the largest group of independent freestyle snowboard events in the world. TTR ranks riders based on their results at participating competitions and crowns the TTR World Champions at the US Open. The current leaders for the TTR titles are Chas Guldemond (USA) and 2007/08 TTR world champion Jamie Anderson.

For more information on the Burton Global Open Series head to www.opensnowboarding.com
For more information on TTR, visit www.ttrworldtour

If you can’t make it to Canada, watch the semi-finals and finals live on Go211.com, where webcasts and highlights of the competitions will also be available for on-demand viewing once the event is over.

Burton would like to thank CODA, Red Bull, Go211.com, Coors Light, Alberta Snowboard Association and Swatch TTR World Snowboard Tour for their support of the Canadian Open.

Throwin’ it down at Sun Peaks Resort

March 20, 2008 – Sun Peaks, BC – The season isn’t over yet and skiers and snowboarders alike will be showing off their skills at three upcoming events at Sun Peaks Resort.

The Garden - Sunday, March 23rd, 2008

The Garden, presented by Oronge Board Shop, is set to drop at Sun Peaks for the second time this year. The event format will be based on the basketball game of H-O-R-S-E, where contestants compete against each other on each feature. Skiers will compete against skiers and snowboarders against snowboarders. The jam will take place in the Blue Park, with a fresh layout to keep things interesting. Register between 8:30am and 10:30am on Sunday morning in the Village Day Lodge breezeway.

Coors Light “Quest for the Holy Rail” – Saturday, March 29th

Explore Sun Peaks Resort and follow the clues in search of the Holy Rail. On the way, Holy Rail teams of two will be collecting clues and playing cards to try and form the best poker hand in the competition. The final playing card is given out at the location of the Holy Rail, where at least one team member must ride the rail to receive that final card. Once your team has all five cards, head back to Bottom’s to see if their poker hand is the highest. The best poker hand wins a Coors Light Peak Party Trip for two people. And there’s plenty of swag being handed out to individuals for best trick, best bail, best style, worst style and best outfit. To register in Kamloops, visit the Oronge Board Shop at 257 Victoria Street, or register the day of the event at Bottom’s Bar and Grill from 10am to 11am.

Chairman of the Board – Sunday, March 30th

The competition is set to be fierce at the first annual Chairman of the Board, presented by 378 Board Shop. This rail jam will be taking snowboarders to the top of the terrain park to session the more advanced rails. Riders will be split into three categories and after a half hour jam session for each group, judges will select the top three riders for each category to face off head to head. There’s cash to be won, plus a ton of goods from event sponsors. Register on event day between 9am and 10:30am in the Village Day Lodge breezeway.

For more information on upcoming events, contact Guest Services at 250-578-5474 or emailguestservices@sunpeaksresort.com

‘You Look Good’ at Sun Peaks Resort

Canada’s Premier Slopestyle Series – March 15th

March 11, 2008 – Sun Peaks, BC – Snowboarders are taking over the Sundance Terrain Park at Sun Peaks Resort on Saturday, March 15th for the You Look Good Rider’s Cup. The event at Sun Peaks wraps up the 2008 tour of Canada’s premier snowboard slopestyle series that has already stopped in Martock (Nova Scotia) Mont Tremblant (Quebec), Banff Norquay (Alberta) and Blue Mountain (Ontario). Sun Peaks is hosting the only event in British Columbia on a tour that hands out $25,000 in cash and $75,000 in prizing throughout Canada.

This is truly an ‘anything goes’ competition. There are no compulsory tricks and judges will be basing their decision on four aspects: trick execution and difficulty, progression, variety and risk. In addition, the judges do not have the benefit of knowing what the rider will perform.

Competitors will be divided into categories: Groms (12 and under), Renegades (13 to 15), Salomon Amateurs (16 and over) and Coors Light Pro Open (cash prizing).

Coors Light is one of the major sponsors of the You Look Good Rider’s Cup. Other sponsors include Much Music, Salomon, Ripzone International, Yamaha and Snowboard Canada Magazine.

Registration for the Sun Peaks event will take place on Friday, March 14th from 4 to 5pm in the breezeway of the Village Day Lodge and again Saturday morning from 7:30am to 9:30am. Your $45.00 registration fee includes a loot bag, annual subscription to SBC and a $5 bib deposit. Either cash or cheque will be accepted (payable to eventSing promotions).

The women’s and men’s qualifying rounds begin just after 10am and the finals will start at 1:45pm. Awards will be handed out at 4pm.

If you aren’t competing, this is a fantastic spectator event, so don’t miss out! For the best viewing, take the Sundance Express Chairlift to the top and ski down the Sundance run over to Sun Catcher and down to the park.

Well the season is over, the snow is almost gone and out come the shorts and sandals. The tanning lotion will flow and Beer-leagues will run on Kokanee, Coors, and Canadian, until its all gone and we can no longer stand in the bating box!!! Blue Bridge parties will start up as they have for generations and the girls will be out dressed to impress. Going golfing with my buddies! Taking my homeys to the river and throw Frisbees, and swim till the sun goes down. To have quiet conversations with someone close with only a slow breeze to interrupt... memories never forgotten. But still the days on my calender have already started to count down, to that time when everything is white and P-tex touches snow. That my friends, is my Graceland! My Summer!
