"Enjoy The Ride...More" is DC’s marketing slogan for their highly anticipated release of snowboards this winter. Last night at 50-50 Brewery in Truckee, CA, PortersTahoe.com and the DC crew – including riders Devun Walsh, Iikka Backstrom, Aaron Biittner, and Lauri Heiskari – all came out with more than just their A-game to kick off this 20th anniversary edition of Mack Dawg’s "Double Decade."

Somewhere between 400 to 500 people joined Porters and DC at the biggest movie premier ever at 50-50 Brewery. There were two screens – inside and outside – showing the next progression in riding with several very well-received segments from not only the DC crew, but riders like Wille Yli-Luoma, Eero Ettala, and the closing part of Jussi Oksanen. The movie also sprinkled in 20 years worth of snowboarding pioneers and ground breaking MDP parts over the years from names like Chris Roach, Nate Cole, Noah Salasnek, JP Walker, and Jeremy Jones (past and present). "Double Decade" truly does give you more by throwing in a great, eclectic mix of music from the likes of the Pet Shop Boys, Devo, David Bowie, Doobie Brothers, and – believe it or not – the Grass Root’s "Let’s Live For Today" for a very soulful and artistic Jussi part.

But that wasn’t all for the day.

Chris “Gunny” Gunnarson from Snow Park Technologies arranged for some of the Porters crew and the DC boys – Devun Walsh, Iikka Backstrom, Aaron Biitner, and first-time golfer Lauri Heiskari – to play a round of golf at Northstar-at-Tahoe earlier in the afternoon. Conditions were ideal. Scores were very competitive in a "best ball", two-man format of 5 teams. In the end, a little home-field advantage – and let’s face it – just plain better skills from Gunny and Walsh propelled them to the win.

Longtime Nor Cal industry veteran and DC sales rep Ron Depp put the evening in perspective this way, "It’s amazing that we could draw such a large crowd with only 5 days advance notice and have so many ex-pros and industry people come out of the woodwork...or the Truckee woods!" Bill Markham, DC Snow Sales Manager, added, "Double Decade is a walk down memory lane that showcases many legends of the 90’s rail brigade. The film also captures how shredding has progressed from backyard rails to big mountain kickers. Couple this with almost 500 kids, beer from 50-50, great support from Porters and DC pro shreds Iikka, Devun, Biittner and Lauri and you got a night you won’t forget....or remember in some cases!"

Judging by how big of a smile Lauri Heiskari had at the end of the night, everyone truly had a great time...and MORE!

Sound the didgeridoos, the 2008 Burton Australian Open has come to a close and Torstein Horgmo (NOR) and Jamie Anderson (USA) have come out on top, winning the men’s and women’s slopestyle competition today at Perisher Blue Resort. After a week of dodgy weather, the sun broke through this morning, illuminating the 400m long slopestyle course that featured a downrail, battleship rail and three massive kickers.

With a field comprised of an Olympic gold medalist, the men’s and women’s New Zealand Open slopestyle winners, two TTR World Champions, six Winter X-Games medalists and some of Australia’s best, the day promised some serious riding and it didn’t disappoint. While the standard was high in both the men’s and the women’s fields, both winners were stand outs with Torstein Horgmo nearly ten points clear of Danny Davis (USA) and Jamie Anderson an impressive 15 points clear of her nearest rival, Raewyn Reid (CAN).

Horgmo’s $7,500 AUD winning run featured a fakie backside tail 270 on the downrail, into a switch 50/50 Cab 180 on the battleship, followed by a backside 720 melon, into a frontside 900 indy, finishing with a ridiculously big switch backside 1260 melon. “I feel really good right now,” said Torstein. “It’s crazy, I thought this course was so much fun, better than last year; you could do bigger tricks and have way more flow through the park. Everybody killed it today so I feel really fortunate to end up on top.”

Danny Davis landed 2nd place with a run that included back-to-back 900’s, riding away with $3,500 AUD. Eric Willet (USA) took home $1,500 AUD for his 3rd place finish, his winning run featured a switch backside 900 mute and frontside 1080 tailgrab.

Women’s slopestyle champion Jamie Anderson continued to be unstoppable in her pursuit for perfection with another podium win. She started her winning run with a tailpress on the downrail, followed by a noseslide-to-fakie on the battleship, sticking a switch backside 360 stalefish on the first kicker, into a Cab 540 mute on the second, finishing with an frontside 540 melon. “I am so stoked to win, it was a really fun day and we had great weather,” said Anderson. “The other girls were sweet; everyone was riding so well, it was an awesome day.”

Raewyn Reid had an impressive showing for the ladies with a backside lipslide on the downrail and a 50/50 frontside boardslide on the battleship, taking home 2nd place and $3,500 AUD. Kara Rennie (CAN) won $1,500 AUD and the third place title by styling it out on the rails with a backside lipslide and 50/50 to boardslide.

With the Burton Australian Open over, it’s on to the Canadian Open, taking place at CODA’s Canada Olympic Park in Calgary from December 1-7, 2008. The Canadian Open is the third stop on the 2008-2009 Burton Global Open Series. Jamie Anderson and Luke Mitrani are currently in the lead for the $100,000 Burton Global Open Series Championship title. The BGOS boasts the most lucrative cumulative prize purse in snowboarding – over $900,000 – with equal prize money to men and women

After today’s Swatch TTR 5Star slopestyle event, Jamie Anderson continues to defend her 2007/08 TTR World Tour Champion title, while Chas Guldemond maintains his tour lead. For more information, visit www.ttrworldtour.com.

Heavy snow resulting in poor visibility tested competitors today during men’s and women’s slopestyle qualifications at Perisher Blue Resort. Riders from all over the world took on the inclement weather during day three of the Burton Australian Open to earn a place in Friday’s slopestyle finals, alongside some of the world’s best snowboarders including Mikkel Bang, Chas Guldemond, Torstein Horgmo, Mason Aguirre, Kimmy Fasani and Jamie Anderson.

The slopestyle course challenged riders with a variety of features including a down rail, battleship rail, three kickers and a wall ride. Top men’s qualifier, Eric Willett (USA) landed a solid run that started off a front lipslide 270 out on the down rail, followed by a 50/50 gap to front 180, 50/50 out on the battleship, into a switch backside 540 mute, followed by backside 720 melon, finishing with a frontside 900 tailgrab.

“Practice was nice yesterday, but the new snow today made the course really slow. It was definitely a challenge, but it was super fun, the course is really nice and the jumps were well built, said Eric Willett. “Speed was kind of an issue but hopefully it won’t be too bad for Friday’s finals.”

Joining Willett in Friday’s slopestyle finals are Jaako Ruha (FIN), Halldor Helgason (ICE), Andreas Monsberger (AUT) and Markus Malin (FIN), in addition to fellow American, Sage Kotsenburg, who placed first in yesterday’s halfpipe qualifications.

1 Eric Willett USA VANS 69.33
2 Jaakko Ruha FIN KISSMARK 66.00
3 Halldor Helgason ICE DC 64.83
4 Markus Malin FIN BONFIRE 64.00
5 Sage Kotsenburg USA QUIKSILVER 62.83
6 Andreas Monsberger AUT K2 61.83

Although the snow continued to fall, the ladies braved the elements and took to the course. Kara Rennie out of Canada earned the top spot for the women in slopestyle quals this afternoon with a run that started off with a 50/50 to backside lipslide on the down rail, followed by a huge straight air on the first kicker, followed by a tailgrab, finishing with another straight air. Laurie Currier and Ashley Wendorf, both out of the US will be competing in Friday’s finals against back-to-back slopestyle X-Games gold medalist and New Zealand Open slopestyle winner, Jamie Anderson.

1 Kara Rennie CAN NIKITA 50.67
2 Laurie Currier USA OAKLEY 46.67
3 Ashley Wendorf USA --- 45.83

Quebec City, March 19, 2008 - Handrails and urban snowboard fans had everything they needed Friday night March 7 to appreciate the 3rd edition of Stairsmasters, downtown Quebec city. The Stairsmasters is the urban event taking place during the Snowboard Jamboree which celebrates snowboarding of all kinds!

The best of the best were all on Place D’Youville to show the public how high is the standard for becoming professional. Some never seen before tricks got thrown down, for the 4000 spectators. Such as the switch bs 180 to 50-50, backside 360 out from Brian McClatchy, or the 180 switch 50-50, to switch bs out from Louif Paradis. Also great performance by Frank April, Chris Rotax, LNP, and Alex Cantin. The victory went to Jason Dubois, who has been very consistent on the rail, but also pushed the limits on the wallride. Jason went home with a brand new Suzuki motocross, a huge medal and $375 for participation prize.

The Stairsmasters : stay tuned for next year edition.

See details, results and pictures on www.snowjamboree.com and of Video the event at 33mag.

So a few weeks ago, I decided to learn how to ride park.  I had done a few little jumps years ago but thought that it would be fun that when I rode with the guys and they went through the park, I could actually hit stuff too.

3 weeks, and many many bruises later, I'm trying to figure out how things work.  I have days like today when I can't even do a 50/50 properly.  Then I have days like last week when I was charging through the park and hitting the rails, boxes, barrel jib and jumps without a second thought.  I'm starting to think that park riding is all psychological. I need to get over my little fears and just do it.

Oh, and i need to bend my knees.  I'm such a lazy rider.

2007.03.30 Friday

Free riding!♪

We went to Whistler mountain!Tadashi, Aki, Shota, Taro, and me Keiji.Contrary to the forecast, it was good weather today. It was the first time in a long time we went up the mountain because we have been shooting with our sleds lately. There were still so much good snow on the peak and it boost our spirits. We all hit the mogul slopes so our legs are so tired but we had so much fun. Some birds came to have lunch with us.Aki with Taro’s sun glasses. In the afternoon, we headed to the snowboard park.It was so crowded because it was sunny. The people there were so greedy to drop in that you couldn't tell when and who was dropping in. It was like a boarder cross race. After we went down the mountain, we had some beers and chicken wings.Chicken wings are so tasty! Some are spicy and some are sweet. When I went to Alaska, I ate chicken wings all the time.Everybody loved it.We had so much fun free riding. Riding with friends is the best!

  2007.03.28 Wednesday

Fair skies!!

We went shooting from early in the morning. Today, we set off as two crews. Tadashi, Aki, Taro in one crew, and Takumi, Shota, Keiji in another crew.It was a very clear day and so nice.

2007.03.27 Tuesday

Nice day!

It looked like it was going to be sunny so we all met early in the morning.Tadashi, Takumi, Shota, Taro(filmer) and me, Keiji.Aki recovered from his back problem and joined us.We shot a cliff, and an up jump, and rode some lines and explored some new places.

Tadashi and Aki rode double on a sled heading to a kicker. It was very steep like a wall. (^^;)

We came back around eight pm. I was soooo tired but it was fun. We’ll take another go at it tomorrow!!

03/26/07

2007.03.26 Monday

Another exhausting day.

This is Takumi! I went shooting via sled with Tadashi, Taro, Keiji, and Shota. The weather could've been better but we managed to get a few shots when the sun peeked out. It’s going to be sunny tomorrow, and we will go shooting from early in the morning! Gotta get a good night's sleep. Good night!

ROAD GAP

Hey it's Keiji! Yesterday, early in the morning, we went to check out the very famous road gap! The members were Tadashi, Takumi, Shota, Dice-K Maru (photographer), Taro-san (videocameraman) and me.

Tadashi can imagine how the landing would be. We came here for the first time in a year and...the slope is really big as I was expecting... If the gap is compared to a building, the building would be how many stories?(^^;) The snow around there was bad and it was dark, so we decided to try this next time when the condition is better. Before we left this gap, we played long cast with snow balls and we tried to hit a piece of wood. It looked easy but it’s not actually. We started to get pissed off that nobody was hitting the target! Tadashi hit the target first and he got beers from everybody! He used to be a pitcher so he was good. Taro-san was 3 base and also a switch-hitter. We threw too many snoballs, like a 100 and now I have pain in my shoulder. Shota was the worst and he has to buy coffees for us. It was raining so we took the day off today and I went to the skate park with Tadashi. Since the skate park is under ground, the air is not clean but we enjoyed ourselves and broke a sweat. Now my muscles are sore.

03/23/07

Snowing Whistler!

Today, we went to a spot where it took an hour by car. It’s nice to go somewhere different. It’s so exciting searching for a nice spot. It's so much fun. Today’s agenda was to hit some pillow lines and Shota and Takumi did some awesome cliff drops. Their lines were pretty cool. After that, we moved on in search of a better place but we couldn’t find any. It’s really hard to find a nice spot, I’m telling you. I want you to know this! (Though its fun trying...)

03/22/07

2007.03.22 Thursday

Hey, yo!This is Keiji the filmer again.I went filming today with Aki & Koni.It was cloudy but we shot some mushroom lines and pillow lines. We had to wait for the sunlight to drop in, and it was tough but we got some nice shots despite the conditions.

  ↓ ↓

In the afternoon, we looked for a place where no one had been to.We kept getting stuck again and again!

2007.03.21 Wednesday

I’m hungry----!We were filming too!!Yesterday, it was nice weather and we did some shooting. Our crew was Taro(video cameraman), Takumi, Shota and me(Tadashi). It was sooo much fun! Shota and Takumi are funny guys. They took forever to double up but they made it! I knew the brothers could do it. It’ll be fun to follow their carreers. Everybody, wait till you see the photos and videos! They are killing it!

03/21/07

2007.03.21 Wednesday

What a relief...We gathered at the parking lot at seven thirty in the morning. The members were Aki, Koni, Maru-san, and me(Keiji). The nice weather made us high. (^^)

The snow was deep and a lot nicer than we thought. No one had come out yet so we had to make our own track to get to the top.But before we arrived to the spot that we had marked out, the other crews like Devun Walsh, Chris Dufficy and Sandbox came one after another and the “spot race” began. Devun’s crew was so fast... They shot a nice spot without wasting any time. We have to be like that...

Aki did a jump and it caused an avalanche and he got carried away a little bit. I was so frightened but he wasn’t hurt at all and he continued to film until nightfall.

We all came back safely and our sleds had no trouble today.I realized the immense values in this.Alright! We will kick ass tomorrow by drinking yummy beer tonight!

2007.03.20 Tuesday

This is Koni bringing you some news from Whistler under uninspiring weather.I’m at Tadashi’s place now. There are many books, DVDs, rare skateboard decks and some other interesting things. There's Grand Sumo tournament on TV, wow Kakuryu won by a frontal slap-down. It was quick. I took a day off today. The reasons was that my body got worked in last night's session, and the weather is bad. So I decided to go skateboarding in the evening. There is a skate park underground. “Under ground” it’s not just “Under ground” but on the third floor in the basement. We had to take the elevator to get down there, and it’s like going to a hideout. There is no fresh air so I can’t stay there for a very long time or I will get sick. So I just skate a bit and break a sweat and then take off. After I left the hideout I enjoyed coffee at Starbucks.I spend my days off like this. It seems to be bad weather tomorrow too.I want to go snowboarding!!! I’ll wake up at five o'clock am anyway with my fingers crossed!

03/19/07

Waiting for sunshine.

2007.03.19 Monday

Hey, This is Keiji.I went filming with Aki & Koni with our sleds.

We thought that in the morning it would be sunny so we left the house earlier than usual! The other filming crews were also gathering around the gas stand.

But when we got into the backcountry, there were more crowds than I thought and the visibility was very poor. We had to wait for the sunshine to get any filming done. Timing matters. It was tough to find the right timing for filming...

That night, Aki & Koni, Maru-san, Taro-san and I did some sessions at the Heart House.

Aki did a front side 180 and back side 180 from 50-50.Koni was trying to do some fun tricks like jumping over the wood rail. But he tried to jump over the last wood rail and bailed super hard.He fell dangerously but he was OK. Whew!Nice try, Koni!

2007.03.18 Sunday

Hi, there! It’s Taro.(heart’s filmer)When I woke up yesterday morning, it was snowing hard so we(Takumi, Shota, Maru-san and me) thought we could do something so we went to shoot near the house by sled.

We looked around for a spot and then Maru-san suggested one.Takumi and Shota scoped the area while we prepared for the shoot, then the snow became rain!

Since it turned to rain, we went to look for another easier spot and found this place.

Maru-san and I were having a hard time protecting our cameras from the rain.Takumi and Shota tried some tricks although they were wet, and we were able to do some filming because of their effort.Takumi, Shota and Maru-san, you guys did a good job today!

 03/17/07

2007.03.17 Saturday

Snow...!!!Powder!

14cm of new snow!I was so excited about going to Blackcomb with Tadashi! The weather forecast said it was getting warm in the afternoon. But when we got to the parking lot, it was already raining. We reminded ourselves that: ”It is only raining down here, up there it is snowing for sure!” and jumped onto the lift. But unfortunately, it was raining all the way to the top!In addition, there were strong winds. The strong winds were killer. The rain spoiled the long-waited snow...That’s life. I hope we have another snow fall!

We had fun in our own way despite the bad snow.

We found this unique kid. His lift ticket is too long!Whistler kids have a lot of energy even though it’s raining.

03/16/07

2007.03.16 Friday

Yo!Hellooo. My crew (Aki & Koni and me-Keiji) went to another spot.We scoped for a place to shoot some fun tricks. The weather was getting bad in the afternoon so we played with our snowmobiles and came back. (^^)

This is the place where Tadashi, Aki, Maru-san and I camped out with our sleds last year.

2007.03.16 Friday

Wassuuuuuuup? This is Taro (filmer).Today’s members were, Tadashi, Takumi, Shota and me.We went up to the mountain and...shi*t! I fell!I bailed when I was driving up a long slope and my sled rolled down over my head! Thank God for my helmet! THANK YOU MY HELMET!After the sled hit me, the sled went down hill all by itself and ran straight toward Tadashi and Takumi with unbelievable speed.Thankfully the sled stopped before it hit Tadashi and Takumi. It was miracle!I was worried about my sled hurting my friends, or what if the sled got broken?! Luckily, nothing bad happened and my wound was only a scratch.

After that we filmed here.

Tadashi, Takumi and Shota did really nice tricks for a total of nine times and it was cool to see them ride in person! It was worth getting hit by my sled!! Thank you riders.I’m looking forward to editing this footage for everyone to see in our DVD!!Ladies and Gentlemen, please wait a little bit more. Thanks!! Three riders were caught in an avalanche.

03/15/07

2007.03.15 Thursday

Yo! What’s up? This is Keiji the heart film’s filmer.I went shooting with Aki, Koni, and Dice-K Maru today. It had been a while since it was cold and today was a very cold day so there were some cars on the side of the highway because they had slipped on the ice. Some areas of the highway were closed. It was pretty bad. The weather was awesome so that I thought it’s going to be a great day, but... it wasn’t. My sled had trouble and I felt disappointed and sad. At the end of the day, I got a good shot with Maru-san and everybody’s help.

Aki & Koni

2007.03.15 Thursday

Hellooo! This is Taro the heart film’s filmer/editor.I came to Whistler and now I’m crazy about filming and my MAC!!Recently, my life consists of shooting and coming back in the evening, taking a shower, drinking some beers, do some work on my MAC, and then going to bed.In the heart house, there are Aki, Koni, Shota (who got a new MAC lately), and Takumi, who joined us yesterday and me. It’s nice and comfortable.

In the morning, I was about to start my sled and I couldn't find my key! Damn, I did it again!!It was so nice today so I must go up to the mountain to shoot so I went to the snow mobile shop and spent 40 min. each way (by car) to make a spare key quickly and come back. I kept everybody waiting in the beginning of the day. I’m so sorry everybody!Today’s members were Tadashi, Takumi, Shota, Jeff- (Burton’s cameraman), and me.

The places were like this.

Hi there! This is Keiji - the filmer.Today, I went to AKIHABARA looking for some new camera gear. There were many geeky shops like NAKANO broadway (did you know?) or maybe it is more maniac.People in AKIHABARA are quite characters! (^o^;)

Besides AKIHABARA, here is another report from the Moon Park Session.

We remade the hip and started a session. The shape of the item was like spine at a skate park. It’s like two quarter pipes stacked. Can you imagine? Sorry for the poor explanation…

2007.03.02 Friday

moon park 02

Hey, this is Keiji - the filmer for Heart Films. The Moon Park Session held from Feb.26th to 28th at Inawashiro was a hit!We were lucky enough to have our session in good weather at the Moon Park. We finished our shoot but we hope to continue with Moon Park and add extra features and keep making our ideas into reality. It is not a big space but there are many fun items. On the last day, I put aside my camera bag and had fun riding too!I liked the feature with the five jumps in a row. It was super fun to see all the riders do a whole bunch of tricks and one up each other and hit the jump all at once. It was crazy! The riders said that their heads were spinning doing so many back-flips!

03/02/07 moon park

2007.03.02 Friday

On the way back from the Moon Park… We stopped to shoot on the way back from the Moon Park Session.Aki, Shota, and Hiromi were there. Hiromi wasn’t in her best condition so she cheered us on.The spot was a deserted house. It's a spot that would be super scary at night, but under the fine sky it was a nice place to shoot. Aki chose the spot and Shota riigged it up and Hiromi cheered! The three riders had a fun time capturing some interesting images.

03/01/07 moon park

We just finished our 3 day shoot at “The Moon Park Session” with no problems.

The Moon Park Session was incredible! Tadashi Fuse’s vision for a fun park was built and created by “brave projects."All the “heart films” riders rode great and the filmers captured some sick shots for the DVD, HEART FILMS vol. 2!Transworld US cameraman Dice-K Maru and TWS Japan photographer, ZIZO, were there shooting the nonsense.Special thanks to everybody who came to the park!!The DVD and the photos will exceed your expectations!Don’t miss it!

The UBF: Episode One was released today and I waited a good month or so for this short film. The online film is approx. 10min long and it focused mainly on Paul Machnau even though there were other Globe Team riders in the film. Pro-Skaters like Chris Haslam, Mark Appleyard, Jake Duncombe, and David Gonzalez. David Gonzalez only performs one trick in the entire film (which he doesn't even ), so I dont think he counts as an appearance but whatever he was there. Some Team Riders weren't  seen such as Rodney Mullen, Matt Mumford and Greg Lutzka.

Paul Machnau was taking care of business with the rails, but what stood out to me was the kickflip to lipslide, the hip gap to lipslide, and the huge gap he ollied at the end his first part of his episode. I guess Paul's favourite trick for this video were the Lipslides and the Bluntslides since he did them quite a bit. Even though this Episode was focused on Paul Machnau, Chris Haslam had some great tricks in this episode. Like the One-Foot Tail Grab and the (Ride-in?) 50-50 to wallride. And Mark Appleyard's Heelfip Body Varial and Heelflip 50-50 trasition trick was dope!

The Cinematography in the Black/White segments felt somewhat post-modern with a slightly vague but interesting and creative concept. There was smoother transitions and I found it to be captivating aside from the skateboarding. The Filming of the skateboarding itself was very well done. Good framed shots, camera angles and camera movement. There were some shots that were quite unique at to the positioning of the camera and the movement. I also liked how the was a part at the end that ties Chris Haslam's Episode to this one. It hooks you into anticipation for the next episode if you haven't already after watching this episode.

We finally had a friggin snowday and it wasnt even for snow, it was for windchill. Last friday we got like 5-8 inches of snow though, it was sweet. I went snowboarding Saturday Night at Jiminy Peak and had a blast even though my friends ditched me. It seemed almost like they used me for the ride, but I know my friend Tucker didn't. He just got caught up in impressing my other, older friend, Matt. So yeah.

I got stuff done. Finally tackled the box in Alex's park. Finally got over that little fear and I 50-50'd the entire thing on my third try. It was nice having some real snow on the slopes. On Coyote Ridge where the pipe was last year, behind it all "blocked off" was some sweet completely natural snow. I looked at Tucker and was like "You Think it's safe?" "nope" of corse He'd say no. I slid down a bit and then went in. It was awesome. So nice.

So, besides my friends being stupid boys and ditching me, I had an amazing night. Might have another "wind chill" day tomorrow. x3

Oh yesterday I also walked around and snowboarded down some little hills while watching snowmobilers get stuck in ditches. My dad let me borrow a big piece of PVC pipe and I made a little drop in to rail like before (resort to snowboard-related stuff gallery), but couldn't set up the PVC pipe yet. I used my rail from before. Showed my dad what a 50-50 was haha. Maybe if we have the day off tomorrow I'll bundle up and go outside, today it was simply too cold.

Keep It Real!

HOT ZONE HINTERTUX PARK OPENING 2007

Steve Gruber won the Ästhetiker Wängl Tängl 2towsend7

After bad weather threatened to postpone the Aesthetiker Jam Waengl Taengl schedule, Sunday’s reserve day delivered broken sunny skies and a chance to run the 30-rider Finals. In a best 2-out-of-3 run format the creative slopestyle course, built by the infamous Aesthetiker crew in Zillertal, gave birth to progressive snowboard action through a two line course: the first consisted of three kickers in a row and a huge Taco at the end; the second, a down-box to a high-turn to a flat-down Suzuki box, followed by a cradle, a corner & three rails.

A high level of international and riding talent, including TTR World Nr 9 Henning Marthinsen (NOR) and World Nr 12, Arthur Longo (FRA), challenged the judges. But it was local maverick Steve Gruber (AUT) who stole the show, winning with a Cab 720, switch backside 540 & backside 720 to win himself 850 TTR Ranking Points, 5,000USD cash prize and a Suzuki Quad bike. Close behind, and earning the 2nd place result, Jaakko Ruha (FIN) impressed the crowds with a Cab 900, backside 1080, and frontside 900. Scandinavia took another podium spot with Kalle Ohlsson (SWE) scoring a 3rd place finish through a clean Cab 900, frontside 720 & backside 720.

stated an overwhelmed Gruber (AUT).

Post-crowning the TTR Tour Champions, the calendar continues through to the end of April 2007. All TTR contests attended until then will provide riders with TTR Ranking Points for the 06/07 TTR Ranking List presented by Swatch to add to their overall ranking score until May 01st, 2007.

Top Results for the Hot Zone Team Rider @ Ästhetiker Shred Down

3 Hot-Zone Riders in top 6 at the Ästhetiker Shred Down in Westendorf

Ästhetiker Shred Down
Westendorf 2nd to 3rd march 2007

(Westendorf/AUT ─ 3.3.2007) ─ Not that it is something new but snowboarding is still depending on snow. This winter season is not easy in Europe. The lack of snow before a contest means a lot of work for shapers to be able to have a good park setup. Therefore great respect to the well shaped rail line. The open training session on Friday brought a few surprises to shapers and riders. The riders had a fantastic powder session in the woods just above the park whereas the shapers had to completely reshape the park line. The opinion of the park team about the 40 cm fresh snow was consequently very different to the one of the riders. Around midday the untracked runs became less and the park was ready again.

The first riders of Friday used the obstacles to get warmed up. A small quarterpipe, a wallride, a straight box, a long downrail and a fat kinked box offered more than enough possibilities for the riders to get ready for the contest day. Impressing was the riding of Michael Stanschitz, Herby Thaler and Wolle Beer with 270 variations showing their motivation for the contest on Saturday.

After the successful warm up party on Friday night in the ‘Kegelbahn’ the contest continued on Saturday with the qualification and the finals. The weather comparing to Friday was everything else than predictable. Riders and organisation were confronted with very changeable conditions. Rain during the training, strong snowfall during the first qualification heat, light snowfall during the second qualification heat, sunshine at the beginning of the finals, fog in the middle of the finals and bluebird at the end of the finals. On top of it wind that was dismantling tents and banners. But none the less the contest with a high level of technical riding could successfully be implemented. During the qualification it was a tough job for rookies and not directly qualified riders to show their abilities over the straight box, down rail and Suzuki kinked box. The best seven riders of every heat qualified for the finals that was carried out in a jam session format. During the qualification the rookie Simon Pircher convinced everyone with his stylish and technical runs that he was ready for the finals.

His solid performance during the finals and especially thanks to his fantastic result in qualification made him the deserved winner of the Shred Down 07 rookie award. As for Simon Pircher the Friday training was a great warm up for Michael Stanschitz. In his second run in the finals he showed an alley oop rock’n roll on the wallride, nosepress bs 180 on the straight box, tailslide 270 out and gap 270 on the kinked box. On top of it Mone Monsberger and Reini Rieser made everything very exciting. Reini Rieser showed a huge frontside air on the quarterpipe, nosepress bs 180 out, bs 50/50 180 out and gap 270 on the kinked box which put him on the second place. The Ästhetiker Mone Monsberger with a huge fs 3 mute on the quarter, cab 270, switch fs boardslide and gap 270 became second. At the end last years winner Michael Sranschitz won the Ästhetiker Shred Down 07 with his first run of the day. For the first time in the history of the Ästhetiker tour a rider defends his title and wins the same contest in two consecutive years. The first three riders received with their results a highly desired wildcard for the Ästhetiker Jam – Wängl Tängl held from 22nd to 25th of March in Mayrhofen. Friedl Kolar proved his style qualities and won the legendary Style Award.

At the end the culmination of this contest weekend was the Shred Down to the valley. The name of the contest is part of the program and therefore riders, shapers, organisers and media partners shredded down the mountain together. With a smile in their faces everyone arrived at the bottom with the memory of a great freestyle snowboard weekend.

Seppe Smits Won the Forum Snake Session @ Nordpark

It was the first Snake Sessions tour stop at Innsbruck’s local resort, Nordpark on last Saturday and the park was in relatively good shape for the current snow conditions. Previous night we had a nice late-night-session at the park, so we decided not to hurry up to the mountain, just up for the finals.
When we got up to the park, it was only 8 young guns left in the finals. We caught up with the judges; Forum team captain Jon Weaver and team/host rider Peter König, sat down with them and followed the finals. It was a relaxed one hour jam session at the park that consisted of rail, 10m kicker and a rail box at the end of the slope.
It is pretty amazing how many times you could jump that kicker. The short chairlift takes you up in 30 seconds, and then if you hit it straight from top to bottom, you can manage to do the lap in less than a minute.
After following these kids with big clothes(apparently a current fashion) pirouetting one after another from the kicker, I realized that most of them had some killer style. And we’ve been wondering why they call these guys youngbloods. They definitely are the future.

Soon it was time for the prize giving and Peter König announced the winners. It was Seppe Smits who took the 1st place with solid riding leaving his brother Anthony Smits on second place.

Hot Zone ISPO 2007 Report

The biggest qualified visitor trade show in Europe the ISPO 2007 in Munich has opened the doors. All theóß

big board sport company’s, are there to show us the new collections of 2008 and also some unknown little company’s are here to get a place in the market. To show you some exclusive products of 2008 I have made a trip to Munich to give you the first report of it.

Munich  05.07.2007 10:30 Uhr.

It’s hard to wait for your Christmas presents but my anticipation onto the ISPO is so big you can not realize. What will happen this year?

My first route starts at the biggest hall A1, all the big named company’s are there like Burton, Forum, Foursquare and many more. Sensory overload is my first thought when I was going in the hall. The first companies I visited were Forum, Foursquare and Special Blend. Austrian The Program sales rep Daniel has decided to give me and you a little fashion show, to represent his exclusive collection. Thanks for this Daniel. After a couple of shots I completed my first mission, and made my way to Nitro Snowboards, they always got a sweet looking booth. I felt like a paparazzi when I was taking the pictures, but anyway, amazing designs, crazy colours and like the years before more stylish than Paris Hilton in her best Gucci outfit. After a couple of tacos I found a little booth with a brand directly from Canada, the name of it is “Nomis”; if you ask yourself, what the hell is Nomis? I show you! This little company was born in Vancouver (Canada) and they produce zip hoodies, sweatshirts, hoodies, caps and much more. But the sensational of this is the love in the details and function. Mat Chamberlain has shown me the hottest products for the next season, and I mean literally hot.

One of the exclusive products is a heater in the zipper, its true so if you getting always cold like a girl, wear this on and you can regulate the warmth with the control panel in the pocket. And it’s washable. Thanks Mat for showing me these hot ass products.

After my lunch brake I found some Ride bindings behind bars, to hot to let them out. For 2008 Ride didn't care and built a collection you can not imagine. To give an insight check the pictures.

Colourful, powerful and awesome ideas! Who is this? This can be only the Neff Headwear Company. With crazy colours, crazy designs and love in the details Neff is showing us the new collection. Hats, Caps, Scarf’s, Shirts, Zippers, Headphones and much more is what makes Neff the unique company from California.

Also Salomon was working hard on there products. With fresh styles and colours they are showing us how creative a bunch of snowboarders are. In other words, basically the company hands them keys to there factory and they go bananas.

SP United, bindings, boots company deluxe. Fresh on board with there new team rider Danny Kass and a Pro Model binding. They also created a binding for the Austrian Zillertaler Crew “Ästhetiker” artless white with the big Ä logo on the highback. They always got some secret stuff, but nobody was thinking that the secret stuff can dance on smooth beats. With the words of my colleague “sex sells “.

Last but not least, I have visited the Shop Summit booth. Now you will ask yourself what is the Shop Summit? I will tell you.

Shop Summit, discuss your answers! Interact with shop owners and get advice from experts. Question yourself: Does your shop have an image? Is your Shop just a sales area? What does your turnover have to be for you to make money? Can your Shop compete against larger shops? To reduce the risk you can talk with experts like: Muck Müller (AT), Jeffrey Harbaugh (USA) Stefan Dongus & Thimo Kilberth (GER).

An awesome, hard day is over, after a long day I will go back home. I hope you have got a little insight of the Products for next season. Enjoy the winter and pray for snow!

Have fun. See ya.

Rudi Kröll reports from the European open!

Tuesday I came back from the Burton European Open 07 in Laax. I went there to ride the Slopestyle Competition which they moved up to the “Vorap” glacier due to bad snow conditions at lower levels. The park, which included 4 kickers, looked really perfect but it was a very difficult setup to ride.

You had to speedcheck every single kicker whereas there was not a lot of time between the kickers which made it pretty hard to get the right speed. Besides the kicker takeoff’s where very steep and the landings too which made it not easier to neither have a precision landing nor to stomp it. That means it was perfect airtime for the photographers.
Furthermore I had to notice that this bad winter also makes me a victim because I didn’t ride a kicker like that in 1,5 month. And there have been 4 kickers in a row at 3000m.

On Saturday there were really good weather conditions during the first heat of the Qualification which I was riding in. My brother “CK” was not really lucky. He was riding the second heat where all the kickers were in the shadow already and also the wind picked up and affected the shredding.

So I qualified for the semi-final which they planned on Sunday. Well, I was checking the weather forecast on Saturday night and it predicted strong wind and snow. So the Chillertal “Hot-Zone.tv” Crew decided to make party and hope for postponing the semi-final. And the plan turned out perfect! I slept till midday till I noticed that the semi-final got postponed to Monday. Sweet! Also Reini Rieser didn’t step out of his bed till the afternoon that day.

So, it was the same then in the BEO 06. No semi final. Everyone of the semi-final moves to the final on Monday. We took the second gondola up on the glacier. It was cloudy but there was no wind when we came up. So we started to train and I was doing 4 or 5 runs. I also tried a bs rodeo 7 on the first jump which I slammed. I was so high and when I came around I couldn’t see the landing at all. It was all white in white and I didn’t see the landing coming. And after 5 runs when the wind was picking up to about 80 km/h it was just impossible to do a safe contest there! So I think it was kind of the only decision to cancel the Slopestyle of this years BEO. It could have been postponed to Tuesday but as Shaun White and some other guys have to go to the X-Games that day it seemed like that wouldn’t be a possibility.
For me it sucks, because this would have been my first TTR result and it would have been a 6star.

Now I am back home and because the park caused some tension in my back I already have been to the masseur twice. In the moment it is dumping and I hope the winter will come finally!

Greets from the Chillertal

so i got my front boards on this A-frame rail down today 2nd try whaaaaat. it was scary. it was awesome. stoked. .....oh let me clarify.. it was a RAIL. not a box, not a box-rail. thin steel yo. yeah i actually just started actually TRYING to hit actual rails like a week ago.. they always freaked me out... i pretty much wouldn't even 50-50 them. sliding boxes 39264309146 times before having a go at the rails again certainly has helped though! YAY!

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY!  It's been a shred-tacular start to my holiday the past couple of days hitting up Big White Thursday, Stompfest 3 at Harper on Friday, and then Sun Peaks Saturday

Big White was foggy Thursday so I ditched the Gem Lake opening and ran laps over the Telus Park jibs.  I tried a few new things like a 50-50 the down-flat-down for the first time and a butter to switch FS boardslide combo on a kiddie box.  I have never really jibbed much so I was pumped on that.

Stompfest was a bit of a let down as half the team bailed last minute.  Jana and Keith didn't get away from Kelowna til late and Alysia straight up ditched.  Lame!  Harper was good though...the jumps in the park had perfect transitions and the jibs were all doable even for my lackluster skills.  Did a couple runs in the dark which is a weird feeling.  Also, riding t-bars switch is a lot harder than it seems like it would be.

I rode some crazy deep pow at Sun Peaks today with Tori, Erin, and my parents.  Doesn't get any better than that.  Spent the whole day doing mid-station runs on the chief, sunnyside, kukamongas or in the crystal bowl.  It was like everyone else forgot it existed.  Sick day for sure.  Hopefully it keeps coming down for Christmas Day.  Gonna set up the boxes tomorrow or maybe set something else up in the yard.  We'll see how lazy I feel...

My Blog: Day 7
By: daisys95gt

I was seriously angry when I didn't think I was going to get to ride at all this weekend, until Annie called & woke me up to tell me Tyrol was opening Sunday, yeaaaayyy! So she and Edgar rode up with me & we ran into Palidon & Coco, & another guy Brandon I think?? They didn't have much snow & there was a really sketchy jump that even I wouldn't hit because the landing was, uhh...basically there was no place to land. So we hiked the rail park & poor Edgar fell on the box his 2nd run & it dug into his leg & took a chunk of his flesh out. He went into ski patrol & after a while we went in to check on him & he was wearing an oxygen tube! His leg was so bloody it got all over his boot & his sock was completely drenched..eewww mental picture! After they let him go we had lunch & then he went up and rode the rest of the day, lol.
I did a couple good tail presses & tried to do a nose press that basically looked like an ackward 50/50. Annie had a NICE wreck when she went on switch to bs boardslide to toe edge. And of course we ended the day at Grumpy Troll. Can't wait for day 8, but 1st is Thanksgiving vacation.

A solid few runs in the 40 min jam session for the Orange Aim Series at Milton Keynes resulted in an entry into the finals of the Masters class with two other local riding buddies, Alex and Walshy. It was good fun battling it out with them in a 2 run pressure session, with all the crowd watching etc. I put in a few solid tricks, but my kicker stuff let me down as the boys varied their runs a little more to push me into third spot. The highlight for me was seeing Walshy bust out a massive front 180 to switch 50/50 on the big flat down. It was wicked to get my first proper placing in a high profile national compeition. Buzzing my tits off afterwards. Highlights of the comp will be on podcast 17.

tongue out for the press.

Hey!

The way u say my name is Lee-nah not Lehn-a, get it?

My full name is f*cking long. Elena-Nicole Katya Katrina K. Czeski. Long da?

Very weird, random and outgoing.

When u ask me personal "?'s" I tend to get shy.

I have 2 sisters. Jen(twin) & Crys(Chris; little).

I'm from Moscow, Russia! Born & raised.

I speak 4 languages: Russian, English, *Trina & Drunk Trina*(Inside joke).

I love music, skateboarding, biking, running, school, sports, my family &  friends.

I get along w/ almost everyone I meet.

I love to joke around w/ my best bestest friend Trina!

I have a two "best friends".

They would have to be: Trina/funky fresh/captain obvious/spider-wo-man/ freak/homez/CANADIAN HOMIE& Kel-c.

"Funky Fresh" & I have been friends for a year! We get along so well, even though we have dated about 15 times in that 1 year!

I'm good friends with a few ppl tho.

"Captain Obvious" & I had a sum-wut bad break-up but now we act like it never happened!

Lastly, KEL-C!! Kel-c is my crazy, physco, funny, weird, awesome cuzin!

LENA WAS HERE!

She will just tell u to ur face if she doesnt like u! If she thinks sumthin looks bad on u she'll say omg u need to f*cking change! She's truthful. Plus we're family, why wouldnt we be friends?

Ok, um wut now?

Oh I got it...

I can be a bitch! No wait I am a BITCH!

As all my friends know I love to make up words such as: kinda-sorta-maybe, awesomeness, yesh, & many other words.

MUSIC IS MY LIFE!! If I didnt have music I'd die! Music is influential! It can help u w/ everything! Almost...Like: break-ups, family losses, coping and hookin up!

I DON'T FALL IN LOVE EASILY!!!!

To tell ya the truth I have only fallen in love maybe 4 times in my whole life and thats it!

I wont tell u i love you if i really don't.

If i like u or have a crush on u, u will find out.

My 1st "true love" was kewl.

Shes totally pure awesomeness and we love to joke around about bein' all gangasta.

Shes really my best friend now. We r still just as tight. U know who u r, for god sakes u better know!

I'm sure u know enough about me by now.

I DON'T JUDGE ON UR LOOKS, ONLY ON UR ATTITUDE!

If u must know more, just ask! So thats it.

Kthanksforstoppingbygoodbye(lol Kel-c)!

***hehemysupersecrethiddeniloveyoumessagethatlooksreallycoolhaha***

I headed up to Whistler last Friday to drop Peyton off at Whistler Summer Snowboard Camp. It was REALLY sunny and nice up there. I have always liked Whislter in the summer. It's grown quite a bit since the last time I was there in the summer. More bike stuff than before, and much busier. It's gettin' to be as busy in the summer as it is in the winter... not quite though!!

Peyton's been callin' every day and givin' me the reports. He's havin' a blast. So far, he's landing 360s now, board sliding fun boxes, and doing 180s on to 50/50 on a fun box. He went bungie jumping yesterday. He thought that was pretty cool. He went twice!!

And like all good things, Peyton's time at Whistler comes to an end this coming weekend. I'll be headin' up Friday and spending the weekend there. Maybe get some golfing in and some bike riding before I head home. If any body wants to go on a last minute whim, there's some REALLY good deals goin' on right now!!

Last night up Bromley was wicked. There was a bit of a thunderstorm on my way to the slope which instantly stopped the moment I strapped on my board. Slope was running super slick and almost responsive. Managed to land those switch backside 180s off the big jump which made my night. Even better, was the fact that one hand Dave got some of them on film for me! Got to get a new DV Cam though, my one has almost had it. We had the 20ft box out and I had a good session on that with Karl and Jay. My first shot at it was well hairy and I nailed my tail bone really badly. Anytime I butt checked after that I was in serious pain. Despite this, still went for some frontboards and managed it 2 out of 5 goes. More good news, got my front 3s back. Surprised I can still walk today despite everything, but the landings for my spins seem a lot more forgiving than the staight airs I'd been doing last week. Hitting up Chatham on Thursday night and hopefully Bracknell on Bank Holiday Monday with Angela, Takion, Janine, Fifty and maybe Karl. Some bad news, one of Ben's pals came off the box wrong while 50-50ing and broke both his wrists! Yikes!
