When did you start to Snowboard?

All through my childhood my father was unemployed therefore I had to ski, when I turned 13 my dad got a job selling sausages in downtown Fredericton, that’s when I started snowboarding and living off sausages and sauerkraut.

When and why did you move to Whistler?

Ever since I watched Mack Dawg Production's Decade I knew that I wanted to snowboard for the rest of my life. Whistler seemed like the best place to do it. So right after I graduated I got on a plane with 700 bucks and flew out west.

What's a perfect day for you on your board?

Wake up 1100 o’clock; watch Tech Diff while I get dressed. Leave my house at 1145 to go eat at moguls. At 1150 I get to moguls, it’s a short walk; I live in whistler cay heights it’s so sweet, I like. I examine the hundred pre-made breakfast bagels, 90% of the time I buy one and don't finish it. Of course on my perfect day it landed on that 10%. I eat the last of my breakfast bagel as I’m being asked to lift my goggles by the aussie pass check, this is hard when your carrying your snowboard in the left hand, your smoothie and gloves in the right hand and a cigarette in your mouth. I get on the Blackcomb gondola at 1215, angry because the aussie tried to ruin my perfect day. I smoke a big fat joint to calm down. I get to the top at 1245, the sun has softened up the snow so its time to go hit some big jumps. I hit the black park till 300 o'clock and don't blow my knee or shoulder. At 310 I get to the bottom. I grab a beer at the longhorn and walk home. That’s a perfect day.

Who do you like to ride with?

Chris Wilson, Ryan Davies, Matt Poynter, Joel Lovern, David Melancon, Matt Richard and Trav the skid.

Which rider(s) inspires you? Why?

Dennis Bannock because he's been doing what he wants forever. Jeremy Jones because he is the craziest mother f@#$er out there. Anyone who films a video part using a snowmobile.

Scarth Photo

How do you like the scene in Whistler?

Whistler is like a high school and I’m the quarterback of the Football team.

Do you remember your first day snowboarding? What board did you ride?

My first day was on Crabbe Mountain, New Brunswick with my father in 1999. He was on an old 210 Nitro with hard boots; I was on a Kemper 142 with matching bindings and sorrel boots.

Do you like contests? why?

I like contest when it is sunny and I win. When the weather/conditions suck and I lose I don't like competitions

Did you do any traveling this year?

Yup went to Vancouver a couple times and Kamloops once that the extent of my traveling. It was so good in whistler I didn't feel the need to go to far.

Do you have any favorite memories that you want to share?

The day whistler got 72cm in 24 hours that day will be imprinted in my brain forever. Use my sled more; all I got to do is fix it first.

Anything you want to tell the people?

No, I was never good at the life coaching thing I leave that to RyGuy.

Shout outs

Can you explain the following word, Bro-mancing and when it would occur?

Bromancing is when a couple of guy friends get together and start to tell each other how cool they are or how great their friendship is or how awesome the crew is.   Normally you don’t see the bromance without the help of a couple cold ones.     The “Bro-mance” is also closely connected to the “Bromuda triangle.”      The only difference is that the Bromance can happen at any time, where as the Bromuda triangle can only be found on the main level of a major trade show floor and has more to do with impossible amounts of new foreign hand shakes and never being able to leave do to things such as: drinking, perving and Bromancing.

How do you like the night scene in Whistler?

It’s definitely a love hate relationship.   My tax report had a lot of digits from Garfs and Earls. The scene up here is pretty sweet right now, I swear there are more girls than guys out these days, and the bar management seems to be pretty tight right now so were getting hooked up and its lots of fun, should I say addicting possibly.

Some people might not know this, but you’re really into the moto scene. When did you pull your first back flip? How was that feeling?

Ya, I love moto, I can’t get enough right now.   If snowboarding didn’t run for so long up here, I would love to train and try my luck in the Canadian national motocross series, but I just don’t think I could get in shape in time to be competitive.   As far as the back flip goes…well I spent a week in Spokane Washington two summers back with Travis Pastrana, his dad, Andy bell and some other moto heads that were all on a weeks break from the Dew action sports tour. Within a couple of days my ass was on the line. Travis’s dad was calling me a pussy and I wanted to land a back flip just to throw it in my cousins (Jeff Williams) face.    It happened and it was one of the biggest and scariest adrenaline rushes I’ve ever experienced.

Waiting for the snow to fall in Whistler, you just did a road trip down to Palm Springs with your moto. How was that?

Palm Springs
is always sick, sunny and relaxing.   As for the moto, we stopped at all the major tracks and OHV zones. Had to rush back here because it’s dumping right now and everyone was calling me to get home.   The green trees were way too expensive though.

If you had a chance to make a snowboard video and had deep pockets to make it, who would you want in it and where would you want to film?

If I had a chance to make snowboard film I would run with the money and make a moto movie, cause moto kids don’t bitch and have whack style and talk smack all day. They just keep it pinned badass style, no complaining.

You have the “trav pop” as we’ve seen in the last shot in ‘In Transit’. Can you explain how to master the Trav pop?

It’s all in the genes; my brother and sister also have some pop. It was all the peach Gerber baby food I think.

You always talk about riding with your friends is what snowboarding is all about. So what’s a great day for you and the banc crew?

Just a regular day on whistler mountain with all the boys and Girl.   Some sunshine a big tree and a pulled pork sandwich at the end of the day, Oh and of course getting bombed at Garfs

Would you rather spend your days in the backcountry or playing on Whistler/Blackcomb?

Both

Thoughts on global warming?

It’s freezing here right now

AM Interview with Craig Bea...

Name: Craig Robert Foster Beaulieu
Sponsors: Sapient snowboards,Billabong outerwear, Von Zipper eyewear, Apok headwear, Want energy drink, Top of the World shop
Hometown: Timmins Ontario Canada
Current Location: Pemberton British Columbia Canada

You’re one of those Ontario boys that moved to Whistler, do you hate it when you get classified as “one of those”?

Why yes, yes I am one of those kids. I don't really hate it all that much when I am classified in that catagory, I mean whatever, Ontario or so what everyone else calls it, "Onterrible," is a really nice province in general. The streetrail scene is tight and the people are funny as fruit punch is delicious. It does seem to get repeated quite a bit with everyone replaying back "Oh. Another one comes down from Onterrible huh"  But I say, tough tits buds, Ontario kids are multiplying in the province like  jack rabbits and some of them kids are darned tootin good as well.

How do you like riding Whistler all winter?

I enjoy Whistler for its diversity and availability. I mean other then those freaky deaky tourists, high priced cheeses and the same "lets get drunk everyday scene" it's a cool place! I started riding serious backcountry this year with my sled by my side, and a shovel in my backpack. Filming and shooting with friends on a pow day is the best feeling ever! I recommend if not yet done. The park seems to be the same all the time, so I am shying away from the park a little. I mean don't get me wrong,  riding the park all day on a sunny day,  doing backside 180 nose grab, tail grab, nose, grab tail grabs are EPIC!  But don't be a park rat! The only thing I wish they had more off would be handrails. Damn handrails. The travel to Vancouver or Kelowna is no fun. First off, you have gas, candy, and also one hell of a work out getting all that snow from the arena to the back of a friends truck (cause I don't have one.)  In general, Whistler is hip hoppin like a Kangaroo Bra!

I know you just got a huge tattoo on your chest, how did that go?  What’s the story behind it?

I did just get a fairly large piece on my chest. The story behind it is that I think everything you do should be living life to the fullest. Carpe Diem correct? Well. I did not want the Latin term on my chest. I did a little switch-aroo and transfered it to "Seize the Day." My views on my tattoo began earlier this year with the ideas of a heart being so filled with emotion and love for life, it's exploding and dripping blood. I decided to proceed with that idea. I also included wings to give me strength to continue with living my life to the fullest, so to say.  As for pain, well...... everytime I felt like I couldn't take it anymore, I turned my head and looked at the finished drawing. That gave me strength and a little voice in my head telling me to quit being such a little wiener. The finished artwork  is unreal. I couldn't of asked for more!

Who was the tattoo artist and where can someone find him if they also want a huge chest piece?

Justin Ormiston is a god and also the artist who performed ink love onto my chest! That little tapeworm of love is an artist with so much love for what he does, I can't even explain. He works at Black Ohm Tattoo shop located in Function Junction in Whistler. Their are also two little comedians who perform amazing work as well. Dave Petko (pepe), and Robin Dutcher. Good work Cats!

How’s riding for Sapient?

Riding for Sapient is so.................... good! I recently got hooked up with them after the Showcase showdown. They are treating me so well, with trips to Aspen, amazing friendships and a sicker than sick stick and streetwear to rock. Our amateur team went down to the Transworld team challenge one week after I got recruited and did fairly well for ourselves, finishing 2nd position is the P.I.G  Game against 20 or so other teams that were attending.

I guess you are on the team with legendary Whistler local Tim Orr, mister 2MC himself.  How do you like riding with that guy?

Let me start by saying Tim Orr is a box of dynamite ready to be lit. The funny thing about that fisherman is, one minute he could be mellow as a marshmallow, the other, partying and drinking beer out of a street pylon in Colorado! That kid goes massive! When he is attending school, it's nothing but, when schools out, He is doing  quadruple backflips over resort chalets. The kid is nuts! Riding with him was a hoot. He was turning heads at the team challenge with his  210 foot airs out of the pipe. Watch out for him, he'll get ya when you are not looking"

What riders do you look up to that inspire you to become a better rider?

Personally, my friends are the ones I look up to. I have the best times just riding around with my friends. They are the ones who push each other to stomp that damn trick thats been haunting them all day. Every day I ride with my friends, not only do I grow into a better friendship, I am achieving the life I have to the fullest as a snowboarder.

Who would you want to go ride with for a day if you could?  Where would you want to ride?

I think I would ride with Craig Kelly. He was the word "Snowboarding" To imagin shredding sick lines as fast as your heart can pound trying to keep up to this legend who slays it right in front of your eyes. Truthfully a dream. If I did have a second person to ride with right now, it would have to be my friend Jay Robertson. Him and I have the funnest time bonking trees, carving mad turns on the cord, and droppin fun cliffs onto run where we try and avoid people.  (laughing)

Do you prefer the park or backcountry?

I'd have to go backcountry. Smashing a jump going mach ten, and stomping the Sh*t out of it, makes you feel like king of the world. Park is fun, but backcountry  jumps are alot funner, yet alot harder to land in. Having variety in your snowboarding, makes you a more diverse, better all around rider.

What would make a prefect day of snowboarding?

A perfect day of snowboard would include calling up the GLC crew bright and early to go shred somewhere. But First, a healthy bowl of captain crunch cerial ,perhaps a banana and a delicious cup of coffee with 7 or 8 sugars.  After that, everyday riding is a barrell of monkeys with kick turns and goggle tans. "Shred it hard Bra"

Have you been on any trips this year?

This year has been a sucessful year for me. I travelled back home to the dreaded Onterrible for a rail mission. Stopped off in Ottawa and shredding/filming some rails with my cousin Co and met up with Andrew Burns for a rail as well. On this trip back home I attended to Coors light triple challenge at Blue mountain in Collingwood and picked up a first place in the slope style, first in the rail jam and third in the big air. The Transworld team challenge I attended at Buttermilk Colorado was a big one for myself as well for Sapient snowboards. .Other than those trips, I have been keeping it mellow living in Pemberton, and chillin out with my friends and my cat "KEY KEY."

Can we find you in any videos this fall?

No, I believe Gnar core is putting out a Super D Dooper 2 year movie. This years footage will be kept in a vault with many diamonds and delicious bars of gold probably worth alot of money so no one can touch it!
( I think).  Other than that, I like to film myself dancing to the new madonna tune. Wanna see that?
Hit me up.

Best kind of food?

The best kind of food is anyfood I don't make. Actually, I do make a mean sushi dish. Heads up for my master piece flying into a mouth near you.

What would you like to do for next year?

Next year I would like to drop bigger cliffs and maybe expand the size of my testiculs. I wanna drop huge cliffs without hessitation. That's my goal.

If you could throw an event, what, where, why would you do it?

I would throw a mean event contaning a backcountry theme with jumps and rail tranfers in one big line. The course couldn't be too steep, yet steep enough to hold speed.  I think it would attract a whole new aspect Linking tricks, being consitant, and stomping you backcountry hits solid!

Anything you would like to mention?

I would like to mention that I suck at this interview stuff.

Shout outs?

All my sponsors, GLC crew, Pirates Crew, Parents, and last but not least Moguls coffee for making my day, everyday with their coffees ever so warm and scrumptious!

Thanks.

Interview with Andrew Hardi...
mug.jpg Full Name: Andrew ZINK Hardingham
Home Town: Banff Alberta,Canada, Earth
Sponsors: Drop, Ride, 686, Etnies, 32 boots, Vestal, Technine, Vonziper, Rudeboys.

First off we want to know, were you actually raised by dolphins?

oh yes. my mother was a dolphin and i loved her with all my heart. it wasn't easy though. she could hold her breath 70 times as long as me and could handle depths much greater then my cerebellum. but it never came in the way of our rich family love. she lost her lover to a tuna boat before i was found. i never got to meet him but mother taught me his clicks and to this day i still use them.

How was life growing up as Andrew?

well the grass was always green if that's what you mean. i was a happy kid that valued happiness over most things. i still live like that. i travel, buy and read porno mags when ever i feel like it. even if a cute girl is working the counter at MAX. I'm crazy

Anything you want to get off your chest?

there is no time for all my ranting. if its snowboarding related then it would have to be the lack of creativity. snowboarders are lame. they have no originality anymore, period.  the ones that do are few and far between and don't get the coverage they deserve. some made it through. like Jeremy Jones (big mountain), Travis Rice, and Travis Parker. but most will never be seen because the industry is made up of the most boring and unique-less people.

666.jpg

Can you explain what a fegit is?

that's a harsh word. how ever it does exist and i would be a hypocrite to act like it doesn't. i have always called it a Fajotey. its smoother that way. not that the act of a faj is smooth. unless it been going on for a long time and its well lubed. i think it might mean HAPPY.

What’s your favourite thing to eat for breakfast, lunch, dinner?

when i am dreaming and i happen to be eating its normally a huge round lump of orange meet (i think) so i guess my dream food would be just that. but i don't think it really exists so im going to have to go with cereal, sandwich, and noodles. sometimes i use the metaphor " i could eat that for breakfast lunch and dinner" when im referring to powder in Japan. so i guess as a man of my word, i to would have to say Japanese powder.

Do you have a favourite animal?

i used to love the cheetah a great deal. its speed and agility are top gun on my scale of cool traits. but lately when im playing a game where im an animal running through the forest after my pray, im always a demon panther. thats a panther that was spawned from satin and somehow still has to hunt its pray. it feels cool though so im going to go with that.

Are you happy with how the season went this year?

im always happy with my seasons.. even if there is no snow im cool with it because you have to get creative and grow some balls. most riders just bitch about no snow because they can't do there cab 900 to there back. well i say learn to do them to your feet and you'll be able to do them any time in any amount of snow ya fag. as for reading the terrain. its way easier when there is a ton of snow. so it teaches you to be a better rider when the snow is lacking.

 heli.jpg

Did you get to travel to any locations outside of BC Canada?

well other than Alberta i hit up Japan/Hokkaido, New Zealand, and Colorado for a bit. it wasn't a big travel year for me because i wanted to keep it real in the rockies. i love traveling. it the reason why i snowboard. well that and get rad amounts of stickers.

How’s life filming with Sandbox?

Sandbox is the only film that i can have creative control of my part. thats something you can't get from other movies. see when you watch some of the big movies made today your watching maybe 3 peoples creative input. most of them don't ride much or even see what the rider saw that day the shot was filmed. with Sandbox, the riders, filmers, and editors are one and the same. i know what shot was rad. i know what went in to that shot and i know the energy it has and will be felt by the viewer. i get to edit my own part in the films so i can bring exactly what i want to the table. thats a really cool thing and rare if not blue rare.

camera.jpg

What do you think about before dropping down some huge cliff, like your shot on the cover of SBC?

i don't think much. thinking is what gets you all f*cked up. your body is implanted with the task of keeping you safe and if i decide to drop some huge cliff then my body and brain will do everything to try to talk me out of it. thats when the body releases adrenalin and the fear emotion is brought up.

you have to learn to ignore everything your body was designed to do, in order to risk life and limb. thats why i like doing things like that. it teaches you to trust your abilities and not your primal urges. if you can concur that you can truly control your self in any situation of life...... that or I'm an idiot.

I hear you have a huge collection of home made videos?

i make videos that never see the light of day. thats how i like it. i don't like when they are censored or changed to meet fagy parent controls. that really pisses me off. so f*ck the world. they will never get to see them and im sure life will go on just as planned.

sno.jpg

To set the record straight, what's the story behind all the celebrity photos  that are signed (by you) hanging up around your house?

well what is an autograph exactly? its something to show off your cock size right. therefore its nothing to do with the person who has it as much as the person reading it. so i cut out the middle man. there just a bunch of porn stars with dirty little messages of love. they keep me in the loop.

What do you do during the summer months?

i travel a lot. i try to hit 3 international destinations a year. it keeps me sane. i love going to new places and getting myself in over my head. seeing if you can survive gang green in a swamp in Cambodia or questions like "does my internal compass really work as good as i think.

What new trend in snowboarding do you wish did not exist?

most of them. trends are everything gay about this sport. the funny part is they are the very thing that keeps it going the way it does. there are so few riders now that just love the shi*t out of the sport. if i owned a company i would love trends because i would make a ton of cash off all the suckers. that's how it works strait up. it is hard to stay away from trends though. they are every were and they keep us looking good. so maybe i don't know what im talking about.

What new trend would you like to see?

big booty ho's everywhere. like huge asses. rad booty yah

Do you have any predictions for the future?

lots... the world will be screwed by rich business men with no concern for the world. just for their wallets and shiny cars that help them bang gold digging bitches, strait up.

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when I say:

Jungle:   fever

Pop Tarts:   girls with white make up

Soft:   50 cent

Fegit:   pooping weird shapes

Madonna:   stolen style and sound and a good head for marketing

Dog:   fighting a golden retriever... and winning

Motor Boat:   Kamloops

Book:   dictionary

Water:    hydrate or dye mutha f*ckah

Well that’s about all for now, thanks Andrew.  Any last shout outs or thanks?

Interview with Joanna Majch...

mugshot.jpg Full Name: Joanna Majcherkiewicz

Location: Whistler, BC and Calgary, AB

Place of birth: Poznan, Poland.

Sponsors: K2 Snowboards, 32 Boots, Etnies Girl, Dragon Optics, Bonfire Outerwear, Gauge Clothing and MGT Snowboard Camp

First off, please explain MGT Camps and why we should know about it?

Hmmm...it's hard to summarize what MGT brings to the shred table because the camp has grown into this force - this snowboard community - that Leanne [Pelosi] and I did not anticipate when we founded it. Officially, MGT Snowboard Camp offers winter and summer snowboard camps that help female snowboarders push their abilities in all aspects of snowboarding, specifically in park, pipe and pow (freeriding). MGT brings accomplished / celebrity female snowboarders to resorts across Western Canada and California. But the camp has grown beyond the student/teacher camp relationship. There are now 1 day MGT park clinics, a slopestyle contest and some of our coaches become friends with the campers and mentor these girls and help them get sponsored. We want to show girls that the terrain park is not scary, that competing is good and fun and that it's possible to backlip a street rail. It's a big party and everyone is invited.

riding_with-campers.jpg

What is the most asked for trick to learn at MGT?

A 180. But we really try to emphasize the importance of doing a good Spawning Salomon, Donkey Kick or Jambone. Hahahah! We encourage girls to get the basics dialed (good ollies, 180s all four ways then 360s all four ways etc) so that they don't hit a brick wall in their riding a few seasons from now. But if a tindy makes them feel rad inside... run with it!

Any good camper stories that you can share?

Nudity and food fights are prevalent themes. Campers have done naked methods, pulled their pants down - while on a rail - to reveal "MGT" written on their underwear and full on cake fights in hotel lobbies that required restraining. Some blood too - face plants and one coach went to the hospital after her face was sliced open by a camper's snowboard.

What was the first big trick that you learned to master?

I thought backflips were 'the shi*t' when I started snowboarding! I began snowboarding when I was 19 and had no previous gymnastics experience but I was gonna learn them no matter what! Upside down maneuvers are still a mandatory crowd pleaser at summer snowboard camp. But I am most stoked on learning how to ollie. I was so... SO bad at ollieing. I was the stiffed legged tall girl. I was all like, yeah, I'm gonna learn a 540 today - but I still didn't know how to ollie.

What trick are you currently working on?

Besides the ollie and looking good at Mahogany Ridge (a.k.a. The Bar)? Hahah! Spinning over bigger tables and spinning all four ways. Frontside and switchbackside are easiest for me so I'd be stoked to make the other 2 variations feel like second nature. And street style rails. These are my weakness. Spinning of cliffs and other natural features. I am working on everything! I don't think I'll every tire of snowboarding.

riding_wallride.jpg

How do you think Snowboarding was represented in the Olympics that just finishing up?  Do you feel sorry for Lindsey losing Gold with her bail?

I am stoked for snowboarding in that it represents this energy that everyone wants to be a part of - since it's one of the most watched events. It's awesome that our sport embodies something exciting and progressive. I was actually locked away in a small Saskatchewan town, on a snowboard trip, during the Olympics so I missed most of it. One downer moment was when one of the Canadian riders shouted their corporate sponsors slogan into the tv cameras moments before they dropped into the pipe. It took away from the greatness of the moment and commercialized it too much. And, 'too bad so sad' for Lindsey Jacobellis! She should've kept her eye on the prize! Maybe she can come to MGT and we'll teach her how to land a method! Just kidding! She had bad luck. She probably lands that 99.9999% of the time. And I was rooting for Maelle. Not only because she's Canadian but because she rode that course with the most style and skill.

Have you been on the road at all lately? How do you like traveling on the road?

Oh yeah! Between MGT, Ride Guide TV and other media work I am on the road all season. Last year I was in Whistler for 2 weeks between December and April. So I'm a great roommate! I really enjoy being on the road and it allows me to see my shred friends more often because they're usually at the same destination.

If you could travel anywhere to snowboard, where would you want to go? With who?

That's easy! Mica Heli with my crew of girls; Leanne Pelosi, Amanda Mourant, Jody Wright, Dominique Vallee, Annie Boulanger, Vanessa Stark, Alexis Waite... there's so many more! Christy Chaloux would shred and take photos. And the old Mission Snowboard Shop crew. Those guys are rad and all my early snowboard memories are with them.

Did you ever think that Snowboarding was going to be a career for you?

Snowboarding is a career for me? Really? Can you tell my parents that because they think what I do is the equivalent of farming unicorns and playing banjo on the street. Hahha! No. I never expected to make money from snowboarding and I was scared of talking into cameras. My initial goal was to learn to turn toeside.

riding_gapjump.jpg

Do you think it’s getting easier for girls to get sponsored these days?

In the past, perhaps. But there are a lot of good girls these days and most of the lucrative positions have been filled so there is greater competition for fewer positions.

Do you think girls are more accepted in the parks/pipe and backcountry booters?

Not really. There are still events that exclude female categories, such as the Vail Session [Slopestyle] and in the backcountry girls really have to prove their worth and that they're not a liability before a guy crew will take themm out. Perhaps that's necessary. There are valid arguments to both sides but that's like arguing if red is a better color or blue.

Who do you like to ride with?

People who are really good looking, really serious and are rocking next year's product. Okay! No one else. Ya herd!? I don't like fun people who aren't scared to fall a lot, say 'hi' to strangers wearing turtlenecks on the chairlift, make jokes and who are determined and creative with snowboarding... like most of the MGT coaches.

Where do you like to ride the most?

Anywhere. I have fun at mega resorts on the west coast and humps in the prairies. Perception is reality!

What do you do during the summer season?

I snowboard! This summer MGT Snowboard Camp has teamed up with Camp of Champions to create the MGT Girls Session. So sign up for Camp D (July 6), girls! And this year I'll be putting that Bachelor of Commerce to use and working with Red Bull on their events.

Do you do any other sports?

I really like knitting sweaters and painting unicorns. Hahhaa! Mountain biking and surfing round out my top 3 favorite sports. A highlight for me this summer was riding the Whistler Bike Park late in the day with my ipod looping 3 Inches of Blood. I felt invincible! Hahha!

What kind of advice do you have for girls that want to get into Snowboarding?

Don't underestimate your ability, scare yourself a bit, don't give up (it takes me 1 zillion tries to get a trick) and don't take it all too seriously. It's just snowboarding!

lifestyle.jpg

What kind of music are you listening to at the moment?

Some of my current favs...

Wykydtron - 3 Inches of Blood

Don't Drag Me Down - Social Distortion

Be Quick or Be Dead - Iron Maiden

Big River - Johnny Cash

Tribulations - LCD Soundsystem

Dr.Jones - Aqua

... it's all good!

Any last comments you want to mention?
Nope.

Shout outs?

High fives to everyone in shredland because you've all been awesome and supportive. And Momma and Poppa Majcherkiewcz.

First off... Happy Birthday!  Do you find that having your birthday so close to Christmas kind of sucks cause people combine Christmas and Birthday presents?

Thanks Kyle. No I find it's better; it’s like an ultra b-day!

If you could have your birthday in a different month, what month would you want?

July!!! Not only could I go snowboarding but I could come down go to the beach [or] get some dirt bike action in. I love days where I can get snowboarding dirt biking and skateboarding all in one day.

How do you like the season so far?

This season has been great. It’s only December and we’ve already got rail action in so hopefully the snow keeps up and I can get my snowmobile on the go.

How did you like last season?

Strait up, the snow was horrible!! Although it was the perfect year for me to learn how to ride my sled and get some good awareness of what’s in the backcountry so can’t wait for this year!

Anything big planned this year?  Trips?  Rails?

I’ve always got some rails behind my back that nobody knows about but until it snows in the city, I’ll be spending my time on my snowmobile this year. A Cat boarding trip, a trip out east and a few contests.

aaronkid.jpg

What got you into Snowboarding?

My dad used to do a lot of cross country skiing so I would go up and follow him either on my feet or just with a good old crazy carpet (I loved simply being in the snow). Then one day he bought me a snow thrasher! Man that thing was epic! It had griping for your feet, a handle, it was the bomb!

You use to drive up to Whistler every weekend did you not?  How was that?

Oh god haha I loved it!! I would bus up every weekend and at some points like 3 or 4 days in a row going up and down each day! You could say I had the Whistler spirit. I still do it today living out of my giant Ogio bag going back and forth with my truck.

Who do you like to ride with?

I love riding with my friends that have absolutely no motives or goals with snowboarding. They are simply up there because they love it or just simply love being in the snow and with their friends. I think for me riding with those guys gives me the most motivation out of anything.

What mountain do you like to ride?

Grouse!! I was born and raised on that mountain. Nothing else will compare to the good times I’ve had up there.

Where do you want to ride?

I’d love to ride somewhere where there’s snow all around me for a long period of time. I went to Sweden and Norway 2 seasons ago which got me hooked (I think that’s the place to be for snowboarding). Not only that shi*t, but you can drive your snowmobile right threw the gas stations. Wait I’m I aloud to swear in this interview haha f*ck

How do you like your sled?  Have you been able to use it much this season?

Nothing else will ever beat sledding haha well maybe motocross but it’s unreal. I haven’t gone up just yet this season since I’ve been hearing a few people are still hitting rocks. You never know what you can get yourself into up there early season so I’ll be waiting for all the holes to be filled in and rocks to be covered.

What do you think about the Snowboard scene right now?

Haha I think it’s f*cked! Don’t get me wrong I love the people and snowboarding itself but I just think there are a lot of people out there right now trying to be the top scene star or cool guy rather then doing the actual sport. There’s a good chance that if you’ve heard someone say  “He rides for a ski company” then there’s a good chance cool guy is snowboarding for the wrong reasons.

Do you think most kids today are no longer in the pipe and backcountry but in the park hiking the rails?

Oh yea of course! I think there’s way more kids into slope style rather then backcountry or pipe these days but simply cause most of them don’t even have access to a pipe or to a snowmobile these days. Also Pipe and backcountry you have to hike and a lot of kids just don’t have the motivation to do that when there’s a park right under the lift. Personally I think if there were backcountry courses that were cheaper for teenagers available and more pipes with a good maintenance crew on the go then there would be a lot more kids into it. But for now I guess you just got to work for the cash and be smart about it or bust a move!

Where do you see snowboarding culture and industry in a couple years?

I think for the most part the industry is going to remain where it is now or at least in a strait line.

Where can we find you next season?  What videos are you starring in?

As of right now I can’t tell you my friend but I do like working with Finger on da trigger, Alterna action films, and any film that Sansalone's down for putting out

Anything else you would like to tell the members of Snowboard.com?

Hit me up with a comment I’m always down for meeting new people! And as Ali G would say “KEEP IT REAL” respect!

Shout outs?
