Went to Mt Baker last weekend for three days of backcountry shredding. Hit up the Blueberry chutes as well as a few lines down Safety Ridge and below the Beast on the Shuksan Arm. Ready and willing to accept any marriage proposals from a hot American guy so I can migrate to Baker and stay there forever. Peep

So as of late I have been going on adventures every weekend and it has been quite nice. Since the beginning of the semester I've been to Whistler, Mount Cain, Mt. Baker and Mount Cain again... now headed home to Calgary for a week! Any Cowtown friends want to meet up and slide down mountains on snow?

Going home in T minus 2 weeks!
Monday, November 21, 2005
Last
night, on a whim, we decided to hit up the final film shown by the
Amnesty International Traveling Film Festival. I haven't actually
had a lot of experience with the organization, apart from being
accosted in the street one day while in a hurry to be somewhere, but I
am definitely stoked with what they do. We often take for granted
human rights, and could probably not imagine what a day would be like
as a persecuted individual.
We watched a documentary
called The Devil's Miner, about two young Bolivian boys who work in the
Cerro Rico silver mines. They both have dreams of going to
university one day, and they look at half a day of school as a
vacation. I can easily say that I don't and will never look
forward to a day at school the way these boys do. Go to www.thedevilsminer.com to see the
trailer.
Also, December 9th is
World AIDS day. At school there were 8,000 small crosses set up
in the middle of campus to represent the number of people who will die
each day from the disease. There is a myth in Africa that if you
have sex with a virgin, it will cure you of AIDS. This, terribly,
has led to the rape of many young children and only led to more
infected individuals. There is so much that can be done if we'd
just get off our bums and donate/volunteer/help. Go here to learn more:
www.worldaidsday.org
While I'm on a roll, I'll
also pass along http://access.jibc.bc.ca/avalancheFirstResponse/index.htm if you're interested in refreshing your Avalanche Safety
skills. By no means does completing this online course give you
the experience or knowledge to go out in the backcountry, but it should
at least remind you of what you already have learned or should learn at
an RAC course offered at most ski hills. It is offered by the
Canadian Avalanche Association.
Finally, on Friday night
we had a Neon Ski-On party to raise money for the UVic Ski and
Snowboard club:

You only wish you were this wicked awesome:

Missioning over to Vancity tonight to meet up with the parentals. Riding whis fri-sun with them, then monday with whomever wants to join me.
Saw Jason Alexander (aka George Costanza) at Sachi Sushi last saturday. RADICAL GNAR SESH that turned out to be. Thats what you get for liking sushi.
Missioned to Fernie for new years after narrowly escaping cabin arrest due to heinous illness of the stomachal variety. Shredded neck-deep powder with my toygerlike instincts and chilled in Kimberley for the new years event itself. More Fernie on the first.
I guess our Whis gangstas are begging Nix and me to attack their homeland again, we'll be there the 9th to the 12th. Peace like a river and I'll see you on the mtn.
