I'm not really into blogging, but i figured today was important. I want the date to be known to me.
Today was easily the best day i've ever had snowboarding in the park. I've only had one other day that comes close and that's only because there was a pro photographer taking pics of me, and if his company didn't go under, i would have been on his team.
Today I hit several milestones that just two years ago i never would have even thought I could do. I've done some 900's in the past, but with no grabs and so-so landings at best. Today I was throwing 9's like it was second nature. Perfect landings, grabs, even started doing cab 9's. Even then i knew i could do more. Eventually i worked my way up to 1080's!!!! Then i started taking them off axis. Then further and further until, i was slightly inverting them. Every one of them had a grab. Every one of them was landed. Some were somewhat sketchy, but they all were landed.
After a few hours of cab 10's, i tried a fully inverted 10. Unfortunately I pulled the spin a bit too soon, got caught up on the lip of the jump, and landed short on my back. When i hit, i heard some cracking/snapping sounds. That's sorta normal for a huge bail like that, but once the adrenaline started to wear off, the pain set in. I did one more 9 then called it a day. I have a separation between two of my ribs now. if i move just right, i can get the section of ribs to move out past the others and even overlap. After i go for some x-rays, i'll update what is really wrong. One thing i know for sure is that i stretched my MCL in my left knee. That's not really a concern to me. I've done it several times with my right MCL and ACL. If it's just a stretch and not a tear, it'll be healed in a week. The ribs however... it doesn't look good.
Overall, I'd say it was a good day.
