The G Gap, by Charles Gagnon |
|
Last may, we went back to my first backcountry jump, the G-gap named after JF Giasson who found it. On the first day, the crew was composed of Alex, Louif, Me and G himself to built the jump. We got on the site at 9 o'clock in the morning and dug all day till 7 at night. I think I got the worst sunstroke of my life, stupid sun! On the next day, Melancon, Tremblay and Benbi joined us to hit the gap, Pedro(Fred Coté) and Will Demers covered some other angle and Oli Gagnon was our photographer. They still owe us a 6 pack each for the previous day of digging, but I think they all forgot... On the second day, like last year, my slede broke down on top of the "S" chute, by the way, it's all fix now and it's for sale! The jump and the runway needed a little more work so by noon, everybody was ready for the session. Tremblay went first and cleared the gap good, after he did a bs 5 and really nice backside 7 that you can see in the teaser. Me and Louif did frontside 360 and later, I tried fs 900 but ended up short. Melancon did some bs 720 like it was a walk in the park and Benbi had some really nice bs 180 but unfortunately, didn't stomp any. The session ended at around 7 o'clock and thanks to my brother who towed my sled back down the hill, we were in our truck by 8... Who said backcountry was easy!!? Oh yeah, Will Demers....
