Well I sent my application and cv to Heavenly (Vail) and got a good response, however, I will only know in August if I I am to get a visa to work there. So all I can do now is wait. I'm optimistic though, I can't see any reason why I shouldn't get a visa. So until then, I'm sweating it out in Liberia.
Long story why I'm in Liberia, I'm just here doing some volunteer work with an NGO, and it is hot, and humid......way too hot and humid, I long for snow again. I'm hoping to get work on a Colorado resort, in the Rockies, maybe Telluride, next season. Watch this space for updates on my next snowboarding expedition.

Thought I was all nicely settled in Cape Town. I have been invited to return to work with an NGO in Liberia for a few months. So I have left Cape Town and come up to Johannesburg to couch surf between family and friends until my flight leaves beginning of March. After Liberia, who knows?.....

Finally found a place to stay just 15 clicks outside the city, far enough away for some peace and quiet but only 15 mins to town for a party! So nice to have my own room to come home to. Also found the job I've been looking for, tour bus driver in Cape Town. Beter money, beter hours, I'm home almost every night & I get to show people around the city I love. I plan to study & persue a career in tourism, Cape Town being in the worlds top 10 toursit destinations. So it looks like I'm finally getting my sh*t together!

I wrote somewhere that I was tired of the city and went to go live somewhere more quiet, well I'm back in the city, and loving it, for various reasons, one of those being that it is much easier to hide here. With small town living you are constantly running into people you know, and a lot of the time it's people you'd rather not see again, like your most recent one night stand........

Now living in the town of Hermanus, just under 2 hours from Cape Town. I still love Cape Town and all, but the pace was a bit much for me, so I'm trying the smaller town thing, and I think I like it better. Population here is about 15 000. What work am I doing here? good question.....I'm looking for tour bus/shuttle driver work, theres lots of it in this area, tourism is strong here in the Western Cape and I like driving people around. I've also started making plans to go to Whistler later this year, the sooner the better. Will work for food and season pass, will crash on any couch. So I hope to finally meet up with as many of the cool people I've met on this site as possible. Watch this space for further updates on my travel plans.

Somehow managed to buy a 1992 3 series beemer for a very good price, just need more denero to run it. It's a great car, can't wait to take it on the open road. Ummm....yea, thats it for now.

Just got back from 3 days snowboarding in the Southern Drakensberg mountains right here in South Africa. We've been having an unusually warm winter, so the conditions where quite slushy, but I got some good riding done, as small as the slopes where, all man made snow, only 5cm natural snow this season......global warming perhaps??
Finally, I'm home!! it feels so good. Whats even better is I'll be snowboarding in a few weeks, right here in South Africa, on a real mountain. I plan to go alone, sleep in my car, like a true snowboard bum, I could really use the time on the road alone, been living on a ship with 300 crew for the last 7 months.....
1 more day at sea, it's been 14 days.....when we arrive at our next destination, East London - South Africa,(my home country) I plan to go out and gorge myself, the food on this ship has been pathetic to say the least....I'm starving.
At sea now, day 4. Another 9 to go. Talk about slow boat to South Africa. Thank God for satelite internet, otherwise I think I'd go insane from extreme boredom. Either way, I'm just happy to be going home. I think it's safe to say being away from home for extended periods makes you appreciate the things you might usually take for granted, such as good restaurants and bars, movie houses etc etc.
How time flies.....I'm now in the port city of Monrovia, Liberia, west africa. The flag is almost like the stars and stripes of the USA, minus 49 stars, they have just 1 big one, and they love America here, ex colony, they even speak with an American accent and use the US dollar together with their own currency. In 2 months I'll be home in South Africa, for a time. I go home by sea, on this ship I've been working with for the last 5 years. I need a drastic change of career, I'd love to return to America, and stay there, so many opportunities I'd like to try. Well, we'll see.......
Well I'm sitting here in Benin, west africa on this ship and have made some good friends out of a crew of 350 from 30 different countries. We cruise the ship down to South Africa in July this year where we plan to do some serious road tripping, one of those trips will be to Tiffindell for some snowboarding!!Considering South Africa is my home country I know all the good places to go. Things are looking good, it's not bad to be single, affording me the freedom to make all the plans I'm making.

Now I'm back in my home city of Durban after beng away from it for nearly 3 years, some things have changed, but not a whole lot. What to do next? hmmmm, lets see, how about get a job, cause I'm almost flat broke, again, me and money.....go figure.
Well I'm here living, working and snowboarding at Tiffindell South Africa. Small, but at least I can work on my turns and other basic tricks. It takes me all of about 20 seconds to get down the slope, but it's still snowboarding on one of only 2 snow resorts on the continent of Africa. We make most of the snow, but had a good natural dump a few days ago, I hiked up to the top above the marked trail and went off-piste, nice pow pow.
At sea now 2 days and bored out of my skull, no alcohol and we are not allowed to smoke, but I do anyway, just have to hide. At least I have the internet. Will be in Tenerife in 3 days YAY!!!
ummm.....just counting the days, another 40 till I board again!! Tiffindell, here I come!
Barcelona was great!! I just chilled at the hostel drinking beer from a vending machine slowly all day, then went to the beach until late, sun sets at 9:30pm, drank beer there too. Everyone was out for a good time, great city, go there if you ever get the chance!
Just arrived in Cadiz, south of Spain. I will be taking a train up to Barcelona next week and will be staying there for about 7 days. This is what I like to do, just pack my bags and go!! Sure, I do work along the way too, nothings for free in this world.
Just had an awesome time in Tenerife, Canary islands. Hired a small car for 7 days and drove a total of 1800km around the island, taking different roads and sometimes the same ones, driving on the island is an absolute pleasure! The island is only 100km long. I'm on my way to Cadiz, Spain, by ship right now. Yet another chapter in my life. I wonder what is in store for me now?!!.....I'm excited!!
I'm so excited, I just can't hide it! I'm at sea and I can sea the volcano of Tenerife sticking up through the clouds to a height of 3000m above sea level. We will be there in a few hours. I will be on vacation for the next week, so I won't be on here that much, but I will be back!!
Finally, I'm on my way north, by ship to Tenerife, then onto Spain then further north to the Alps where my baby and I will be re-united on the snowy slopes again!! I miss snowboarding soo much, been in west africa for 8 months has been tough, but it's over now, I'm on my way. It might still be while till I get to board again, but at least I'm not stuck in that sweltering heat anymore.
I was navigating through some pages and thinking about what to enter in my journal and now I get here and I forget what I came here to do.....oh well, I take the hint...go get some sleep, this concludes my 6 hour Friday nite session, yes, I have no life, here in Africa on this ship....but not for long....the Alps are patiently waiting.....ok, I just said some of what I orginally came here to say......I'm out.zzzzzzzz
Nothing interesting to write for today......
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.
I pray this prayer almost everyday now. I wish I could get off this ship and go snowboading, but I can't for a few reasons, so I must just accept it, for now.....
