You can't climb till your ready to fall... this is a saying that i belive to be one of the most important things in snowboarding today.

Progression of your own snowboarding is not an improvement of your skills as much as it is a state of mind. Every time i try a new line, or trick ,or rail, or jump, I contemplate all sorts of things..... speed on the in run, how to do the trick, the take off using my edge, rotation, spotting my landing and riding away clean. This is all good and well but i am also awear of what happens if i under or over rotate, knuckle or overshoot the jump.

Before i can think about that new trick or line or jump, i must first accept the consequences of what can go wrong. i have to accept that injuries will happen and pain is essentially enevitable.

So the key to progression is accepting all the consequences of what can happen as a result from what you are doing (like a risk assessment). The next step is a personal one....

You have to weigh up all other things in life.... the joys of walking, family, work, money, etc.etc. and see within yourself if it is worthwhile trying what you are thinking of. You have to commit yourself to the trick or line or whatever and believe that you will land and rideaway clean and safe, and be willing to take what is delt to you if something go's wrong.

snowboarding is not about how fly your gear is, weather you do rag is hanging at the right angle of even bing percieved as cool, but rather that stoke that you get from understanding everything that can happen during what you are attempting and laying it all on the line for the glory of personal satisfaction.

be original.

You can't climb till your ready to fall..
