"Crush"
Ah yes, remember those childhood crushes? I certainly do...I had many, well I still do. I was thinking back to my childhood crushes today and guess who I remembered? Alasdair Gillis...Yes folks that's correct the one and only Alasdair from "You Can't Do That On Television." I swooned over this boy for many years and wished that I could have been his girlfriend at the tender age of 8.
I recall sitting inches away from my tv waiting for his candid and then at the right moment I would kiss the screen. You Can't Do That On Television was perhaps the greatest show ever when I was a youngin. Between the sliming when the words, "I don't know" were said to the word "water" I was always in stitches. This show was what taught me what the word encourage meant. "Lisa, don't encourage your father!"
Did ya ever notice that Mr. and Mrs. Prevort had new children in every skit? And why the heck did Mrs. Prevort ALWAYS wear those rubber gloves? Barth was my fav....of course for the first few years I fought with my brother because I was certain his name was BARF. His hanging booger thing was the BEST!
I thought for sure one day I would be on that show...I was definitely You Can't Do That On Television material...except for one crucial element...I WASN'T CANADIAN! Even so this did not deter me...I wrote letters to the show hoping that I would be the next Moose or Lisa, but unfortunately my letters went unnoticed and unanswered. I guess my hopes of being close to Alasdair died with those unanswered letters...What's a girl to do?

"Knockdown"
It's funny the way things happen sometimes. Just when everything seems to be rolling along at a good clip in your life, something comes and tries to knock you down.
I refuse to let ANYTHING get me down.
I will NOT go back to where I know I can go.
Staying positive is the only way I can overcome things as well as the higher power. I must live by my motto and that is "from something bad comes something good"...and "everything happens for a reason."
Although I am not quite sure how being robbed $470 CAD in a movie theater can be good...I do know that I will survive and money can be replaced.
As many times as i have had things stolen, one would think that I would have not had that kind of money in my wallet. Normally I wouldn't...I rarely EVER carry cash on me. But this time around I thought that I would forget it had I put it in my room somewhere. I figured that if i had my pocketbook with me at all times, I would be fine.
I was DEAD wrong.
I cannot sit here and say I am not angry and frustrated, nor can i sit here and dwell over the fact that this is going to set me back. But what I can do is take this experience with me in the future, and just hope that whomever took the money from me needed it a lot more than I did.

"An Ejaculation a Day May Keep Prostate Cancer at Bay"
SYDNEY (Reuters) - Frequent masturbation may be really good for you.
Research by Australia's Cancer Council Victoria found that the more often men ejaculate between the ages of 20 and 50, the less likely they are to suffer the disease that kills more than half a million men each year.
The survey of 1,079 prostate cancer (news - web sites) patients and 1,259 healthy men found that those who masturbated or had sex at least once a day in their 20s were a third less likely to develop the malady.
"For men in their 50s of course that's often not achievable," Graham Giles, who led the research team, told Reuters Thursday.
"(But) masturbation isn't bad for you. I don't believe in the blindness and hairy palms theory. Prohibitions against ejaculations are not based on science," he said.
The study, conducted between 1994 and 1998 but still being analyzed, did not focus specifically on masturbation.
Nevertheless, it was the largest so far to ask participants not just about their sexual relations but also about masturbation, and to analyze the answers.
Giles said the findings correlate with previous research that showed Roman Catholic priests were 30 percent more likely to get prostate cancer, but they contradict other studies that suggested having a variety of partners or frequent sex could lift the risk.
One theory that could explain the new results is that semen may have a carcinogenic effect on the cells lining the prostatic ducts if not flushed regularly out of the pipes by ejaculations.
The research is due to be published in this weekend's British Journal of Urology International.
SO FOR ALL YOU 20-SOMETHING'S OUT THERE, BETTER GET YOUR FLOGGING ON!

"Toll Booth vs. Supermarket"
I want to know why toll booth workers get paid so much?
My friend works as a "booth attendant" and he makes $19 per hour. If you think about it, what's the difference between a person who stands in a box in the middle of a highway collecting your hard earned money, programmed to only say hi or bye and a drone who is forced to stand 8-10 hours a day in a supermarket making small talk with old ladies in moo moos and curlers? The difference is about $13.25.
What is this injustice???
Pardon the pun but this seems to be highway robbery! But then again I suppose your life is way more likely to be taken in a toll booth by either an out of control vehicle or a driveby. The worst that could happen to you in a supermarket is that you get a papercut from the millions of coupons the old ladies in their curlers and moo moos throw at you.
so maybe this is justified in some way.

"random thoughts"
As many of you know i very rarely use my journal as my way of telling people what i am doing. i use it as a place to showcase my writing. today however i am going to let you in on my life current day with some lovely random thoughts...
LIVI IS HERE TODAY!!! we are going to NH with about 15 of my friends, so that should be a blast.
i am late for work for the first time since i started there. but i really don't care b/c i am there 10-11 hrs a day. i am ok with this...and never have been before...being late that is.
I went to see THE NEW PORNOGRAPHERS last night and was absolutely BLOWN AWAY!!!!! I would add that to my list of one of the best shows ever! i went alone which has not been done since high school. but in hs i KNEW that i would see other people at the "space" an old hangout for shows. Now-a-days i am not as brave. but i went, thinking i missed the whole show due to my dad's birthday dinner, and when i got there an hr and a half after the show was to have commenced i find out that they haven't even started yet!!! holding my extra ticket in my hand i see SOLD OUT written across the flyer outside. immediately i turned around to the small gathering of people and exclaimed, "does anyone need a ticket?" and to my surprise about 10 people yelped YES! i sold it for almost what i paid for it, and met a new friend, Dave. turns out he was there alone too. we had some beers and had a lot of laughs. THE NEW PORNOGRAPHERS were absolutely incredible! they played 3 yes i said 3 encores!!! and so many people left after the first encore...they had people come up on stage and dance with them, and Neko's voice was flawless. being a singer i have a really difficult time with many female singers, but she rocks my socks! and they did a cover of Barracuda by HEART! all in all a superb night that i will never forget.
i guess i should start going to shows alone more often.
HAPPY WEEKEND EVERYONE!

"I see you but I don't see you"
Crusin' along 75...80mph, heads turn left to see the little tornado red VW Golf zoom past. You pretend to not notice anyone else, as if in a trance from your tunes amplified through the stock speakers. "I see you behind me you are looking at my stickers"...they know. They subtley let themselves be known by attmpting to pass on the right. The back of their SUV has telltale stickers...you know. You act oblivious still as they hover along side hoping to catch your eye. Trying not to crack a smile from the laughter held in...you speed up. The unsaid game has begun.
I have always thought it funny how we play games on the highway. We know based upon the vehicles we drive, the stickers we place, the racks propped on top...we know. Yet we very rarely awknowledge the other car. Only of course you have others in the car with you to be your culperts. Such a strange phenom to me.

JULY 7th, 1973
a young couple awaits the rest of their lives.
together they will forge a new path.
the journey is unknown, but the promises of a life of love eases their uncertainty.
mountains are climbed, and boulders are scaled as the years pass on.
they sacrifice their everything to the two most dear to them.
love was always there, one need not look too far.
day by day the couple grew learning lessons, overcoming hardships and discovering that the things they thought were important in life are a farce.
time was the key.
with the key held tight in their grips, the reality of getting this far, making it work for this long is worth more than any material possession bare.
on this day i salute my mother and father. Their honesty, brilliance, and love has brought my brother and i to where we are today. in times of struggle they sacrificed their happiness for ours, their money was ours, their support ours. Even in this time of uncertainty the love and hopes are still clear. My parents exemplify what it takes to make a marriage work. Even after 30 years of battles won and lost, i know that their love is everlasting. God bless you both on this day. may you continue to live and love in harmony.
Dedicated to Albert and Mary Patricia Oliver

*letters from kayleigh*
Hi Meghan-
MISS YOU SO MUCH! How's life? How's Zoe? :) One of my course teachers is named Meghan. Well she doesn't spell it like that. She's from California. She's teaching "Tiling the Bathroom Wall"...the course with math and art put together. The other course I have is woodshop. It seems like it is going to be really fun. 3 girls from my dorm hall last year are in my hall this year. YAY! With me included, that makes up half of the dorm hall population. One of our RA's is from Jamaica (!!!WOW!!!) and loves to dance. She might be teaching us a Hip-Hop dance for the talent show. CAN'T WAIT! Well, I should go now...We're supposed to be getting dressed. MISS YA!

Say you're goin' steady, without me
Give me back my records and my blue sweatshirt, with the zipper broke.
So i said already, you put colors where I'm gray, now I'm gray again
Gray fifteen year club
Walking home from your house, 4am.
Useless plastic bags they followed me.
To my door step.
Seven hours I've waited,
But I'd wait a lifetime...forever.
