LudicrousSpeed has created a new forum topic High Ankle Strap Mounting?. Posted on Jul 12, 2009
I was wondering what bindings have the highest Heel Cup mounting position for the Ankle Strap?  I know some bindings like the Rome Targas or K2 Formulas have 2 positions: A low one for more mobility, and a high one for leverage and response.  I've got a bone in my right ankle that sticks out and starts to give me hell after a long day of riding.  A higher strap will take some pressure off this.

LudicrousSpeed has created a new forum topic Freeride vs AT binding for an Intermediate?. Posted on Jul 07, 2009
I would classify myself as an Intermediate rider.  I can get down blacks by linking 3 or 4 decent carves followed by 1 or 2 skidded turns, depending on the hill.  I always felt like the limiting factor on my speed, especially in the chop, was that my binding's highbacks were not stiff enough torsionally (my feet would do one thing, but the board had a mind of its own)
I started learning to hit jumps towards the end of the season, and had some fun with it.  I would like to progress a little in this area, but I doubt I will ever do anything to large, and riding will always take precedence over jumping.  I have no interest in rails or butters.

I have considering getting some freeride oriented bindings, but I am wondering if such a large increase in stiffness would be most beneficial.  I am 6'3" 250 (x-offensive lineman) so I could probably get a little more flex out of them then most people.  My current bingings are Drake Super Sports (drake's top end freestyle binding).  I have heard that stiff bindings can screw up landings, or that you can snap a stiff highback more easily if you spazz out a landing.  Would this be the case if I'm not hitting anything big?

For freeride bindings I was considering:
Ride CAD
Bent Metal Step In
Solomon Caliber
Rome Arsenal
Nidecker Act Carbon or Carbon 900
Flux Feedback

If you suggest to step back on the stiffness, then mabey:
Union Force
Rome Targas
K2 ?Auto?

Thoughts?  Opinions?

LudicrousSpeed has created a new forum topic Deeluxe Empire for Freeriding?. Posted on Jun 25, 2009
I've been looking for a good stiff freeriding boot.  The Salomon's (Malamute, Synapse, F-series) don't fit very well.  All the Van's I've tried on also don't fit me.  There is the Driver-X, but I have read some reviews saying they have durability issues (not really bad, but just not what you would expect for $300).

So I was looking into some footwear specific companies and came across Deeluxe.  I was really interested in the tech they were using.  I was looking at the "Empire" or the "ID SCL TF".  They've got triple zone lacing, a nice power strap at the top that seems useful, TPS shield, and Backtrack technology.  The TPS shield and Backtrack technology seem to increase the boots stiffness/response rating.  The Empire's have a base stiffness of 6 out of 10 but add 2 for TPS and 2 for Backtrack for a total of 10 out of 10.  This seems like an awesome deal because I could have a freeride boot for most of the time, but could adjust them to be more flexible if I wanted to learn how to ride park (read: get hurt really fast).

Does anyone have experiance with Deeluxe boots, especially the TPS shield and Backtrack technology?
