About Me

I am obsessed with snowboarding.  I started snowboarding in 2003 at my wonderful home mountain, Blue Knob.

Blue Knob people are a rare breed.  We don't have a whole lot, so we make do with what we have.  We push each other to progress really fast.  While it is rare for a significant number of girls from a mountain on the east coast to do 360s, all of the girls on Blue Knob do at least that.  And you better believe that we will rip up any rail that we come across.

I'm a Public Relations major at Penn State.  I have been on the PSU Snowboard Team for the past 2 years, and will be the Penn State Snowboard Club Secretary for next year.

I tend to break myself a lot.  This past season I fractured my pelvis in New Jersey and fractured my vertebrae (broke my back) and got my first concussion on Vermont.  Last summer I bruised my intestine at Mt. Hood and got to spend 6 days in the hospital.

Total number of days spent in the hospital over the past year: 13

Words of Wisdom

My Blog: Wednesday, July 19, 2006
Well I just joined the Snowboard.com community, and so far it seems like no one really cares about snowboarding.

I tried out the chat, hoping to escape my summer bordom and talk to someone about the one thing this forum was made for: snowboarding.  But to my dismay, the only thing I found was a bunch of immature 14-year-olds arguing about nothing and throwing insults at each other about "dating 5oo pound whores."  Lame.

So then random boxes from 15-year-old groms pop up, telling me that I am "hot, sexy, <insert overused catcall here>."  It's bad enough that I am mistaken for a 15-year-old on the slopes, but on here they know my age!  Sorry boys, I'm too old for you, and I do have a boyfriend.

I hope this gets better.  All my skier friends have luck with NewSchoolers, but this reminds me of freakin' MySpace.

If there are any serious snowboarders out there who want to talk about snowboarding, give me a shout.

Hey whats up? I saw you in the PSSC. I just sent an email to you guys about trying to get set up in that. I just wasnt sure if you actually have to go to University Park or if people at satelite campuses can do it too. You guys ever ride at Blue Knob or Seven Springs or is it mainly just Tussy Mt? Well hit me up if you get a chance. Later.

Hi Katie....So has blue knob finally put a park together? I grew up in hollidaysburg and spent a lot of time up there at blue knob shredding but I moved out to colorado after high school for reasons I am sure you very well understand. I kind of miss riding there but I'm sure after a day I would remember why i moved. If it makes you feel better I just went snowboarding a couple days ago......Dont worry snow is coming soon...

Who Snowboards these days anyway?  Kids spend too much time on the computer and not enough time outside.

Words of advice......try shredding pow instead of that east coast ice.  Pow doesnt hurt when you bail. Check it out.

But there are some pretty rad people on here too. The forum regulars are pretty much the coolest people ever. Hop in there and browse around a bit, and I'm sure you'll quickly spot the good folks of sb.com.

Hi Katie, welcome to sb.com.  Your observation of all the little pests on this site is not wrong, but don't give up on it.  There are alot of cool people on this site.

In the forums there are some really good people that have been posting for a while, but the forums have been kinda lame lately though.  Feel free to start a topic in them though and just remember to take what a lot of people say with a grain of salt.

oh and I hope you have a good sense of humour, hell even I can't help giggling at your sn a little hehe "knob" yeah I know I have the mentality of a 3rd grader sometimes.

Hope:
everything will be okay in the end.
if it is not okay, then it is not the end.
