| Hello all,
I would like some advice on what size / type of board to get.
In my trips to Taos, I have been put with a 159 CM typically, which reaches just to my chin. This seems to work, but I have not tried anything else so don't have anything else to compare it to.
BTW - I live in Texas, so trying out several different rentals is not an option. I plan to go 2x times more this year, and with renting boots+board at $40 a day, seems to make sense to just buy something.
In keeping with the 'sticky' note, here are my stats:
Weight - 140ish
-Boot size - I have smallish feet and wear a 7-8 in men's shoes. I have found I typically fit snug in a size 7.5 DC or a size 7 Burton boot
-Style of riding - Still learning and like to cruise, no tricks or anything at this point.
-Ability - Have ridden about 8 times total over 3 trips to Taos. I am one level above suck. I can get down the mountain with maybe 2 stumbles. Have finally gotten to the point where I can just cruise on an edge and not fight the board the whole way down the mountain. Ride groomers typically greens and a few blues.
Height - 5'11"
I guess the questions would be:
1. What length board should I get? 2. Is width a consideration because of my wee feet? 3. Any suggestions for specific boards that are a good value and would be a good fit for someone of my ability / needs. 4. Is it OK to get a freestyle board as a beginner board, or is Freeride a better choice?
Thanks in advance for your help with this.
Sam
