Ok, I know... I know, I've said on the forums that I wouldn't be able to make it.. Let's face it, how am I expected to improve my riding capabilities with rental equipment? As well, where am I going to find the motivation to progress in this sport without my own personal set? With having that in mind (as well as other prospects, like budgeting and what not), I set myself to go to Toronto's Ski and Snowboard Travel Show. Trekking around the automotive building for about 3 and a half hours, I managed to find myself a pretty decent set (or atleast, I feel its a pretty decent set). For a relatively decent price package (averaging to 600 bones before taxes), I managed to get myself a pair of forum recon boots (very soft flex, has a lot of give), forum recon bindings, and, yes the forum recon board. I've never ridden Forums products before, so I'm very enthused and excited to try out my new gear. As I assume, and from what one of the guys who helped me out pick out my package, the forum recon set should be a great set of equipment to help me advance to the next level of boarding, improve upon my capabilities in free-riding, as well as helping me get introduced to the parks. Of course, this will be a slow, but not so tedious (well maybe a bit), progression, but I know it takes practice to make perfection.
Back to the discussion of the show, it was pretty decent, I have to say. I missed out on grabbing some free swag like the X-schich (sp?) giveaways, and have missed out on some of the events like the Jeep Jib-jam, and all the other fun stuff, but I still came out of the place like a winner with a smile on my face. Overall, I'm what you would be called, "a happy camper".
That's gonna be the end of my blog entry here. I hope those of you who went today had an awesomely good time. I know I did. If ever you see me screaming down the runs in some of Ontario's resorts or mountains, don't be hesitant to drop by and say hello. I won't bite, unless provoked (just kidding).
Cheers,
B.O.D.P.
