Atomic Snowboards and Arctic Cat have teamed up for the third year in a row promoting the “I Love Pow” tour.

Atomic and Arctic Cat have partnered up once again with a perfect blend of performance driven snowboards and performance driven snowmobiles. The partnership allows each company to reach a new audience outside of the normal realm of their respective target audience.

Arctic Cat has provided the best mountain snowmobile known to man to a few select riders and reps of Atomic Snowboarding. The new Arctic Cat M8 brings 142 ponies of powder shredding power to the backcountry of the West. In a lightweight chassis, the combination of power to weight as well as the proven mountain chassis of the M series sleds, the new M8 will take you anywhere that you need to go to get the first lines in the backcountry after that big dump.

In addition to the sleds themselves, Dave at Cheetah Factory Racing has equipped each of the sleds with the best snowboard-carrying device available. Check them out at www.cheetahfactoryracing.com.

With custom Atomic Snowboarding graphics, these sleds will be easy to spot in the parking lot, but after that you are on your own to catch a glimpse of the awesome machines as they probably won’t be sitting in the lot long and you will have to catch them if you want to see them. However, they will be parked for a short while at a few select dealers in the West and at on snow demo events.

Huge thanks go out to the crew at Arctic Cat Snowmobiles. They are the first company to realize that snowboarders and snowmobilers share the same powder passion. If you get the chance, check out the full line of M series sleds at your local dealer.

Also props go out to Mountain Magic Sports in Preston, Idaho and Outdoor Toy Store in Carson, WA for getting these sleds dialed in.

Whether it is going up the hill or going down the hill, Atomic Snowboards and Arctic Cat snowmobiles have created the perfect combination of fun.

 See you in the snow.

Sounds like Andrew Rusk had a not average weekend...

So Friday night Jon and I went down to London for the Jib Jamboree put on by Eventsing.  The evening went swell.  We rode, we went to the after party, I got best trick, yipee hooray.  Then we decided to make the trek home.  Well we got ourselves a parking ticket, fine no biggie.  Then, about 5 min from the highway, I notice a cop car has been tailing us for a few of blocks.  We come to stop at a traffic light and out of nowhere another cop car skids in front us, the guy behind us pulls in tight on our ass, another car boxes us in from the left and another car blocks out the rest of the intersection.  The lights are blaring and a whole crap load of cops have completely surrounded us yelling at us to get out of the truck with our hands up.  I believe it was "HANDS UP! GET THE F**K OUT OF THE CAR! HANDS UP! HANDS UP!!!".  My brother was dragged off to the car that slid in front us while I got manhandled by 3 other cops.  I was thrown up against the cop car that blocked us in from the driverside handcuffed, searched and put in the back of the car which was behind us.  "Your under arrest for the possession of stolen property, you have the right to call a lawyer..."  These cops think they have got themselves a nice bust on their hands, well unfortunately for them they are terribly wrong.  You see a few years ago while at the Canadian Nationals in St Sauveur we had our brand new 2003 Chevy Avalanche stolen right out of our hotel parking lot the first night we were there.  We even watched it drive away on the security recording.  Well after that was all straightened out we got a new truck, a 2004, and our plates re-issued.  Well it seems that when you run the plates the stolen trucks VIN is still in the computer due to the fact it has never been recovered.  This has caused us a few problems before but never to this extent.  So after explaining everything to the officers and having them do their final checks it was all cleared and we were released.  As a parting gesture one officer even said "well at least you will have something to talk about at your Christmas party".  Ha ha, yeah no kidding (f**kin dick).  After they cleared the scene we pulled into a gas station to clear our heads and call/text everyone.  shi*t those cuffs were tight, like so tight they almost drew blood.

So that was our adventure last night we feel like real thugs now.  Ah well time to spend the winnings and get new plates hahaha.

Checkout our website at http://www.atomicsnowboarding.com/index2.php?pid=0&nid=0&c=2 , this link takes you to the Canadian News pages.  New team riders bios and photos are up.  From what I've heard opening day at Whis was awesome and it looks like there's a wet cold front moving in tonight so that means more snow on the way, even for the Van City local mountains.

It’s always nice to find something in the mail box that’s useful. Everyday we get bills and junk mail, so whenever the new SCB mag arrives, I’m sure it brings that added pleasure to bathrooms across the nation.   Here's a few things you find between the pages:

 - Keith Martin and Andrew Rusk let you know what their favorite TV show is in Random Information pg.59

-  Dennis Bannock show us how to perfectly execute a tree jib, 270 out in Technique pg. 90

- Molly Milligan and Andrew Rusk both have Who Dat? Sections pg.124 & pg. 132

- Aaron Shapiro talks about his Catboarding trip to Baldface Lodge in the Luxury On Track Article pg.178

You can also check out the SBC Resort Guide which covers 70+ resorts, with Andrew Skelhorn popping up multiple times with airs from coast to coast.

There are a few tell tale signs that winter is just around the corner, like
hockey spit rail sessions, video premieres and the new shiznat showing up at
your favourite store.  Plus if that's not enough there are snow shows
happening all over the world as everyone scrambles to get the latest and
greatest gear before its sold out. International Pro Matt Beardmore, JF
Fortin and Molly Milligan will be hanging out the at the Toronto Ski
Snowboard and Travel Show from Oct. 12 thu Oct. 15th in Toronto. Keep an eye
out for them around the show and of course at all the video premiere
parties!

It's funny people in general (yeah generalizing sucks) have a tendency to root for the underdog.  Take the average Hollywood movie, the main character always goes through some hard luck story, you know the kind, his girl leaves him, he gets fired, he's in a coma, he lives in a trailer park. You get the idea, hard times for the main character get sympathy from the viewer and the viewer then roots for the main character to succeed.  Which in almost every movie happens.  Ie the guys gets the girl, he can race his car again, the underdog usually wins. The funny thing is how often does the underdog get his in real life?  I don't have an answer but think about it.  Anyhow, check out the "Looks Aren't Everything Premiere" a small grassroots film (quite underdoggish actually) in Whistler

As some of you know and some of you might not know, the Hatchet has been around for four seasons.  The inspriations behind its creation? Basically, we wanted a board that we could take anywhere, abuse on rails and concrete, ride in the park or on backcountry jumps and not break the bank when it was time for a new one.  But we wanted to have our cake and eat it to (ummm cake).  Why?  We'll we wanted something that was still responsive so we put our high end Twin Prog Sidecut on it along with four layers of glass. And with the 2.5 degree base bevel it's forgiving on rails and jibs, meaning you can still turn the board (since you don't have to file your edges down to nothing). For more techy mctech check out the website www.atomicsnowboarding.com

This year that Hatchet comes in two colors (check it on the website), plus we're stoked to offer a Limited Edition Canadian Hatchet, available only in Canada.  But like the name says its limited and its in stores now, so when its gone its gone.

A tell tale (what a great word) sign that winter is on the way is that our new website is up and running.  Well kind of anyhow.  The lowdown on the new gear is up, (plus there's a pretty cool zoom feature that lets you see all the detail) and were constantly updating the rest of it.  This is fosho our best site ever, with news from around the world, podcasts, useful links all you could ask for.  Check it out at www.atomicsnowboarding.com

Thats what my great Aunt's brothers husbands grandfather used to say.  Well, apparently, it applies to almost everything in life.  From showing up drunk at your girlfriends, to missing school, to being late for work, to updating profiles.  Maybe not to powder days. There was a point to this - new photos up

I think everyone gets a little bit of the so-called spring fever sometimes.  The daylight lasts a little longer, the sun gets a little warmer and most people are welcoming the onset of summer.  But for some its a double edged sword, sure bluebird days are awesome and riding a soft pipe and park is incredibly fun but it means that the dog days of summers - no shredding - are just around the corner. Well sometimes in the spring, old man winter comes back with a freak storm or cold temps to remind you that its not over until its over!

What does this have to do with anything? Nothing at all. This past weekend at the You Look Good Riders Cup Final at Horseshoe Valley Resort in Ontario, Old Man Winter was not the only so-called old man to return.  Firstly, the day was cold and windy with light snowfall, not bad if it were January.  Secondly, self-proclaimed old man Dennis Bannock entered the event.  As the day got windier and colder, Bannock rode with the likes of Andrew Burns, Kevin Konnings, Andrew Rusk, Andrew Skelhorn, Neil Connolley, Adam Chuntz and a bunch of other talented riders, not to mention Chris Dufficy on the mike.  Bannock happened to make it to the night finals, which were of course windier, colder, harder and darker. So now you're expecting some sort of underdog, made for TV finish, happily every after type ending.  Well real life is not like that at all, well most of the time anyhow.  Burns took first, cause he killed it, Konnings took 2nd because he owned it and I can't remember who was third.  So what's the point of this babbling? Bannock took best trick on the staircase set ? Yup but thats not it either. This is where I should tie both stories together with something witty about the return of old man winter or old dogs and new tricks, but your expecting that.  Instead if you ever see Dennis around, ride the chair with him for a park lap or say whats up, and hope one day you can be as stoked on shredding as he still is.

Dennis Bannock recently placed 11th at the Showcase Showdown amongst 180 other people out enjoying a progressive contest format (competitors just sounds so stale).  Not bad for an old dog with new tricks!! Den is travelin and will be at the Coors Light Triple Challenge at Blue Mountain on Mar. 9, 10th and 11th and then at the You Look Good Finals at Horseshoe on the 18th.  Plus Bannock will be shreddin all over Ontario this week shooting for his Trick Tips in SBC.

JF Fortin is taking a wee break from filming for IN Transit (new Alterna film), kind of but not really.  JF will be at the Coors Light Trauma Tour at Avila in Quebec this Saturday.  The contest should be fun although the footage from the rail missions should be even better.

Molly Milligan is trying to snake the US open.

Matt Beardmore is waist deep in pow filming with Absinthe.

Shapiro Welters and Barker are heading to the interior with a camera and the natural high of life on the road with a bunch of sausage.

Ahh now its time for rumors.  Its no surprise that the hatchet will be available in 2 colourways next year, but the big news is there will be a Ltd Edtion Canadian Hatchet available only in Canada only.

So I was set up on Wednesday night doing a demo at Alcatraz's Wednesday night jam at Dagmar (in Ontario Canada). It was a good time, people were trying the new 2007 stuff, snow was soft and we were giving out lots of free stuff.......Then a patroller who was trying the new Axum and new Mojito's came by with some bad news.  Apparently, someone got hurt and he went inside with them and left the board outside.  When he came back it was gone! Yeah it sucks.

Funny thing is that the person who stole it probably doesn't realize that it was one of next years boards and no one else has it. So this is where you the general public come in.  If you see some clown riding a 2007 Axum.....don't punch them out, but rather let them know you know what they did and how lame it is.  This could have been your board, or one of your friends board, so for a lot of people this would end their season.  My only hope is that it wasn't a snowboarder who stole it but rather a wayward crackhead!

Here's a picture of next year's Axum the 156 is the UMA graphic

A quick story, a David and Goliath type tale.  Recently Aaron Shapiro managed to swindle his way into the Vegas High Roller Jam during the SIA show.  After two heats of 20 rider, Shaps made it into finals.  Low and behold he manage to come in second.  The Filthy  Lucre for riding snow in the desert?  $7000!!! US of course.  And to top it off US rider Dean Barbier came in 5th.  Stay tune for more tales of triumph or random blogging
