Rails Explained

A discussion in the Tricks Forum came up a few months back and yielded this handy diagram. Can I even do half this ish? HELL NO. But, it is a pretty handy diagram, so if it helps you, right-click and Save As to your computer.

cool it does clear it up  my confusino was direction of travel and the place ment of the rail in the diagram

Actually, the diagram doesn't show anything regarding 50/50's.  Lipslides are when the tail of your board crosses over the rail first.  (And conversely, Boardslides are when your board's nose crosses over the rail first.)  I hope that clears up what's in the diagram.

There's an easier way to explain it: if you are facing the rail it's front side if your back is to the rail it's back side. If you put your front foot over the rail to get on it's a board slide, if you put your back foot over it's a lip slide.
